Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 2104: Chapter 2104: Light-Year Distance (33)

Two hours later, Chuzheng came to pick up Wei Shi. They took the underground route, not many people were around, just a few.

Instead of going to the usual large port, they headed towards a less populated area.

Upon arrival, Wei Shi was surprised to discover there was a port nearby.

Thinking about it, he realized he wasn’t very familiar with Imperial Capital Star, so it was normal not to know.

Chuzheng, holding his hand, led him through a glass corridor and casually explained, ”This is where cargo ships dock, other ships usually can’t land here.”

”Then why can you?”

”Because I have a cargo ship.”

”...”

”And I own shares here too.”

”...”

Sorry, I shouldn’t have asked.

They left Imperial Capital Star without any obstruction.

Naturally, no one expected that Chuzheng would just up and leave without any forewarning. By the time they realized it, she was already gone.

Inspector Yao found it incredible.

In his observation, Vice Councillor Liang didn’t seem like someone who would run away. Even if something went wrong, she should have confronted it head-on, right?

Why did she flee?

This was completely contrary to the impression she had given them!

Once Chuzheng fled, the people of the First Legion certainly guessed Wei Shi was with her, and indeed, soon sent people to intercept.

The Legion could mobilize a lot of power, which was a bit troublesome for them.

Chen Chuan’s injuries were still not healed, and he came over with his injuries to ask, ”Miss, where are we going now? The Allied Army has issued orders to intercept you, which is very disadvantageous for us.”

”Vor Star System.”

Chen Chuan frowned, ”Miss, over there...”

”Switch ships first.”

”Yes.”

Chen Chuan went to arrange the ship switch.

The chair next to Chuzheng turned half a circle, revealing the boy sitting in it: ”Vor Star System is notorious for its chaos, what are you going there for?”

Chuzheng suspiciously asked, ”How do you know?” Didn’t Good Person Card live on that Barren Star for a long time? How does he even know about the Vor Star System?

”I used to meet someone from Vor Star System, heard a bit about it.”

”Oh, and that person?”

”Dead.” Wei Shi turned the chair around: ”Not long after he fell, he died.”

Mentioning that Barren Star, Wei Shi recalled some things that suddenly made him feel low.

Chuzheng patted his head, ”It’s okay now.”

The fluffy hair was pressed down by her, the warmth from her palm transmitted from his scalp, offering some warmth.

For the first time, Wei Shi felt someone could say ’it’s okay’ in a way that made him believe it.

The boy looked up at her, ”Why are you going there?”

”...To leave this area, they won’t be able to catch us.” Chuzheng casually made up an excuse.

Wei Shi looked suspicious.

But the Vor Star System indeed makes it easier to hide, unlike their area, which has a structured interstellar law.

In the Vor Star System, you might encounter any kind of race, and any kind of danger is possible.

On the way to the Vor Star System, they changed ships several times.

Each time, the ships were not small, and some even had different family emblems.

Even with an arrest warrant issued by the Allied Army, the other side treated Chuzheng as an honored guest.

Wei Shi felt he didn’t understand her at all.

This time when she left, she clearly wasn’t prepared, but she left so smoothly, it was as if she had planned it all along... very contradictory.

The group safely left the human territory and headed towards the Vor Star System.

-

Chuzheng’s departure from Imperial Capital Star was a breeze for her but a hassle for the people of Imperial Capital Star.

Especially for Marshal Kelly. He actually had high hopes for Chuzheng and wanted to train her intensively, but... but she ran away!!

And she left without saying a word!

”Marshal, we can’t find any trace of Vice Councillor... Liang Chuzheng. What do we do now? How do we respond to them?”

There’s a time limit for handing over the person on that end.

If the deadline is missed, will they launch an attack?

These questions lingered over Marshal Kelly’s head.

Not only that, but he also had to endure the ’kind’ inquiries from other legions.

Marshal Kelly thought it was illogical; the missing person was from the First Legion, so why suddenly point the blame at him?

Once he figured this out, Marshal Kelly rushed to find other marshals to... discuss.

-

Outside the ship, shadows flickered by, leaving nothing much to see. Chen Chuan, holding a report, quickly walked through the aisle and knocked on Chuzheng’s door.

The door was opened by Wei Shi. The boy glanced at him, then silently walked out.

Chen Chuan: ”...”

Lately, Wei Shi had been staying with Chuzheng a lot. Chen Chuan didn’t think much of it and went inside.

”Miss, there are leads on the address you asked us to check last time.” Chen Chuan projected an image: ”It’s this planet, but there’s nothing above it.”

Chuzheng scrolled through the images to check: ”Are you sure?”

”Yes.” Chen Chuan nodded: ”But if the other party has more advanced technology, maybe we won’t be able to detect it.”

Chuzheng reviewed each image and video.

The place looked empty, nothing appeared unusual.

”What’s happening on the Alliance’s side?”

”It seems the deadline given by the other side is approaching, and the Alliance is very anxious.” Chen Chuan reported some gossip he had obtained from somewhere.

Chuzheng took the opportunity to escape with a ’unknown species requested’ person, and as the deadline loomed, it’s natural for the Alliance to feel tense.

They’re afraid the other side might really be powerful enough to provoke a war.

But when Chuzheng and her group entered the Vor Star System, the opposing side didn’t attack. Instead, they extended the deadline.

Chuzheng: ”...”

This situation became rather intriguing.

The Alliance wasn’t foolish; noting the anomaly, they began to test the waters.

But the other side did not respond, only kept issuing countdowns to the deadline, bringing back the sense of pressure.

”Miss, our people haven’t withdrawn. This is a newly captured footage.” Chen Chuan handed the latest information to Chuzheng.

The video showed a gigantic object for a few seconds before it disappeared.

”Was this filmed on-site?”

”Yes.”

”Did you see it clearly?”

Chen Chuan hesitated, then spoke his bold speculation: ”... Miss, I think this seems more like an illusion.”

He questioned the cameramen in detail; they all felt something was off about the scene, it didn’t quite seem real.

Chuzheng propped her chin up, pondering the floating image.

What equipment could be used to project such a large-scale illusion?

With current technology, it’s not impossible, but the scale is too vast, not easy to accomplish.

Plus, according to their observations, there was nothing else around.

A mirage?

Chuzheng thought for a while but couldn’t figure it out, so she decided to find her Good Person Card for some calm.

Wei Shi: ”...”

Am I just a tool for dispelling her boredom?

Toolman Wei Shi refused to comply with Chuzheng’s request, which seemed a bit against the core values of socialism.

Chuzheng, adaptable and accommodating, expressed that she wouldn’t bother her card, choosing to focus on work instead!

Work makes me happy... or not!
