Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 2103: Chapter 2103: Light-Year Distance (32)

Wei Shi came out after washing his face, water droplets dripping from his hair tips, and Chuzheng handed him a towel.

”Thank you...”

The boy’s voice was hoarse.

He used the towel to dry his hair, caught a glimpse of Chuzheng, and suddenly stopped: ”I want to...” the last two words were barely audible.

”What did you say?”

”You heard me.” Wei Shi put down the towel: ”Is that okay?”

Chuzheng was a bit scared: ”Are you sure you’re not scared silly?”

”...”

Wei Shi pulled out the shirt trapped under his belt, undoing the buttons in a few swift moves.

Seeing such an exciting scene all of a sudden, Chuzheng felt that if she didn’t do something that goes against the core values of socialism, she would be letting down a Good Person Card who was being so forward.

-

Chuzheng didn’t know if Wei Shi wanted to gain a sense of security from her, or if he wanted to confirm he was still alive.

In the end, Wei Shi buried his face in her neck and said in a hoarse voice: ”Thank you for coming to save me.”

Chuzheng: ”...”

”Is it because of that you and I...”

”What, isn’t it you who wanted me to repay kindness with my body?”

”...”

Alright then.

It’s all the same.

Chuzheng didn’t get hung up on it; as long as she had him, it was fine.

Wei Shi rolled off and picked up his clothes, putting them on randomly.

”Why are they after me?” Wei Shi sat beside her and asked Chuzheng, who was still curled up in the blanket.

Chuzheng sat up, propped by her hands.

Wei Shi hesitated, finally reaching out to support her, causing Chuzheng to collapse into his arms.

”Because you’re really valuable now.” Chuzheng leaned against him.

”???”

Valuable?

Chuzheng briefly explained the whole situation to him, highlighting the main points, which Wei Shi understood.

But understanding didn’t help; he still didn’t know why.

”Why do you think they want you?”

”I don’t know.”

Wei Shi didn’t have much impression of his parents; before Wei Canghai came to get him, he already had to find ways to survive on his own.

”Do you have anything on you?”

Wei Shi shook his head.

Chuzheng held Wei Shi’s hand, interlocking fingers, and kissed them on the lips: ”Don’t worry, I’ll protect you.”

Wei Shi: ”...”

The girl’s warm lips against the back of his hand, like an oath burned in.

Wei Shi lowered his eyes to look at her.

Chuzheng happened to look up, their gazes collided, and something seemed to warm up the air.

Wei Shi’s Adam’s apple slightly bobbed, and he slowly lowered his head...

”Miss...” Du Bang knocked on the door from outside.

Wei Shi immediately turned his head away, looking elsewhere.

Chuzheng was slightly impatient: ”What is it?”

”The First Legion is here and says they want to search this place.” Du Bang quickly said.

Chuzheng: ”...”

That bit of romantic musing in Wei Shi’s heart was dispelled: ”They’re coming to catch me. If they find you...”

”Wei Shi, I can protect you.”

The girl’s voice was calm and firm, each word carrying weight, quelling the unease in his heart.

”Wait for me here, be good, don’t run.”

”...”

-

There was quite a commotion outside the corridor, but no one came to check this room. An hour later, the search party left.

It was clear that the First Legion knew Chuzheng and Wei Shi’s relationship wasn’t ordinary, which is why they brought so many people to search.

Unfortunately, they found no clues.

Chuzheng soon received a communication from Marshal Kelly, inquiring, of course, about Wei Shi.

Chuzheng stubbornly insisted she knew nothing.

”We must leave here.” That was the first thing Chuzheng said when she came in.

”We?” Wei Shi caught the key point: ”You want to leave too?”

”Yes.”

”They’re only after me. If you say this has nothing to do with you, you don’t have to...”

”Wei Shi, I have my mission. It’s not just about you.”

Wei Shi: ”...”

Chuzheng hurriedly added: ”But you are more important to me; other things can wait.”

Inwardly, the little figure slapped its own mouth. That’s what you get for speaking too quickly!

Chuzheng peeked at Wei Shi’s expression, seeing that there was nothing unusual, she felt slightly relieved.

Phew.

”Are you planning to give up everything here?” Wei Shi’s tone was exceptionally calm: ”Your glory, your status, everything...”

Chuzheng suddenly closed in on Wei Shi.

The boy retreated two steps, pressing against the frosted glass behind him.

Chuzheng climbed along his shoulder line, leaning forward: ”So do you want me to give you up?”

In a daze, Wei Shi heard his heartbeat, resonating with his blood, every cell in his body trembling.

No!

That was the only voice in his mind.

But he didn’t say a word.

”Answer me, do you want me to give you up?”

Wei Shi heard his own voice say: ”...That’s the best choice.”

”Is that the choice you want?”

”...”

Wei Shi’s eyelashes lowered, hiding the obscured light in his eyes. The coldness from the frosted glass seeped from his back to his head.

Just as he was about to speak, Chuzheng suddenly leaned forward and blocked his lips.

The frosted glass overlapped their silhouettes, indistinct and shadowy.

Chuzheng released him, pecking twice: ”Answer time is over, now do as I say.”

Wei Shi’s cheeks were flushed, his rosy lips parted slightly, mumbling several times: ”Why do you do so much for me?”

In his life, no one had ever done so much for him.

At least, in his memory, no one had.

Wei Canghai hadn’t either; he only thought he was giving him the best, which always came with suffering... in places he couldn’t see.

”You’re worth it.”

”Worth it...” The boy chuckled lowly, his tone inexplicably mocking: ”If one day you find out I have done many things...”

”Wei Shi, if you don’t like the past, just forget it. I won’t pry into your past, but I want to be part of your future.”

Chuzheng stretched her hand towards him.

”Do you want to?”

—— but I want to be part of your future.

—— do you want to?

Wei Shi looked down at the girl’s outstretched hand, the palm white and tender, the lines clear.

He seemed to see the pitch-black universe crack open a seam, through which she stepped into light, slowly reaching towards him.

Wei Shi swallowed several times, his breaths slightly rapid, finally extending his hand to place it into Chuzheng’s.

”Good.” Chuzheng reached out and patted his head, her bright eyes stroking it several times.

This head, I could pat for a year!!

Wei Shi: ”...”

Seeing Wei Shi’s expression wasn’t right, Chuzheng reluctantly withdrew her hand: ”Do you have anything you need to pack?” There’s plenty of time later, no rush now.

”I...” Wei Shi paused, shaking his head with his hair tousled: ”No.”

Someone was likely guarding his place now; returning would be walking into a trap.

”Okay then.”

Chuzheng told Wei Shi to rest in the room first and would call him when it was time to leave.

Her decision to withdraw was entirely on the spur of the moment, and everyone below was in a frenzy.
