Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1420: Chapter 1420: Daughter of the Military Family, Empress of Power (30)

A Bare-Pole Commander was still contemplating whether to raise a rebellion when the Imperial Guard Army came to arrest him.

Both eyewitness testimonials and material evidence were hastily thrown in front of the Regent Prince.

The evidence was so convincing that the Regent Prince nearly believed it himself.

But he hadn’t done it!!

The Regent Prince was utterly unable to defend himself and was thrown into prison.

The news wasn’t kept under wraps, and soon the people of the Imperial City all knew about the Regent Prince’s intention to rebel.

Rebellion has always been a grave offense implicating the Nine Clans since ancient times.

The Regent Prince is a member of the royal family, so the involvement of the Nine Clans would also implicate the Young Emperor. Thus, it’s impossible to involve the Nine Clans, but the entire household’s execution is unavoidable.

Regent Prince: ”...”

I did nothing!!!

The Regent Prince spent all day in his cell protesting his innocence.

But no one paid him any attention.

His confidants did devise a rescue, but unfortunately, they were discovered before they even got near the prison.

Many of the confidants were lost without even catching a glimpse of the Regent Prince.

[...] What should one do with a sister who’s not serious and spends all day thinking about how to kill others?

-

”The Empress Dowager, this is a letter sent by the Regent Prince.”

”...”

Why won’t this Regent Prince stop causing trouble!

He’s about to be written off!

”Don’t read it.”

Chuzheng instructed Su Xue to burn it straightaway.

Su Xue: ”...”

Su Xue took the letter outside and bumped into Rong Shi.

”General Rong.”

Rong Shi’s gaze paused briefly on the letter in Su Xue’s hand, and he nodded slightly, allowing Su Xue to report before entering.

Su Xue closed the hall door and stood guard outside with a complex mood.

”Why have you come?”

Rong Shi had been very busy lately, with almost no time to visit her.

”Things regarding the Regent Prince are about settled... Your Majesty has already set the time, and I have nothing specific to do, so I came to check on the Empress Dowager.”

Rong Shi spoke formally and seriously.

Chuzheng asked earnestly, ”Missed me?”

”...”

Rong Shi’s lips hesitated briefly.

After a moment, he let out a soft ”mm.”

Chuzheng gestured for him to sit: ”Were the Regent Prince’s men all instigated by you? What are you trying to do?”

Rong Shi nearly lost his balance.

He dared not sit any further, pressing a palm against the table: ”What did you say?”

Chuzheng repeated, ”What are you trying to do?”

Rong Shi’s heart tightened, ”How did you know...”

”I visited them.” Chuzheng said, ”They told me.”

The corrupted Good Person Card is indeed far more formidable.

But compared to her, still a weakling!

Rong Shi: ”...”

Chuzheng hadn’t left the palace gates, and Rong Shi had no idea she’d ever been out or that she’d visited those people.

Rong Shi took a deep breath and slowly sat down.

”What does the Empress Dowager think I’m trying to do?”

”Rebel?”

”...”

Rong Shi fixedly stared at her.

Chuzheng’s words were offhanded, but seeing Rong Shi’s expression now, she stiffened slightly.

”You really want to rebel?”

”You ought to read the letter from the Regent Prince.” Rong Shi poured a cup of tea and pushed it towards Chuzheng, ”Empress Dowager, my desires extend beyond just you.”

”What else do you want?” Chuzheng’s tone was icy, ”Isn’t having me enough?!”

The little thing even knows the Regent Prince wrote him a letter!

Also knows she didn’t read it?

Is he here now because he knows the Regent Prince sent her a letter?

Rong Shi was momentarily stunned.

He probably hadn’t expected Chuzheng to say something like that.

After a long while, he lowered his eyes with a soft chuckle.

The previous chill around him suddenly turned into a mischievous aura.

His elegantly arched brows lifted slightly, and his usually aloof and indifferent eyes now appeared both enchanting and wicked.

His distinctly jointed fingers picked up the cup of tea before Chuzheng and took a sip at his lips.

Under Chuzheng’s gaze, he leaned over.

The scent of tea lingered under their noses, and the warm water slowly passed into Chuzheng’s mouth.

After a long while, the man tenderly embraced her, whispering softly, ”Who would refuse power?”

”You want to be Emperor?”

”Why would the Empress Dowager think that?” Rong Shi’s tone was slow and gentle, his breath brushing against Chuzheng’s skin, causing a delicate shiver. ”I never said I wanted that position.”

”Oh, you want to be the Regent Prince 2.0?” Didn’t see the Good Person Card having such grand ambitions.

You could have said so earlier!

At this point, how am I supposed to handle this!

Rong Shi probably didn’t understand what 2.0 version meant.

But from the overall sentence, he likely grasped the meaning.

He didn’t deny it, smiling a bit, ”Then Empress Dowager, would you handle me the same way you did the Regent Prince?”

Where did all that evidence against the Regent Prince come from?

Rong Shi doesn’t believe the Regent Prince is so foolish.

To have everything ready for someone to convict him.

”If you want it, I’ll give it to you.” Chuzheng lowered her head, every word like a promise, ”Even the throne.”

-

Su Xue stood outside, watching as the sky grew darker, but Rong Shi hadn’t come out yet.

Su Xue paced back and forth.

”Sister Su Xue, won’t the Empress Dowager have her meal?”

A palace maid came jogging over to ask.

Su Xue, startled, blocked the doorway, ”The Empress Dowager is a bit unwell and still resting.”

”Oh...”

The palace maid curtsied and prepared to leave.

Su Xue called out to her.

”Did you see anyone come to the palace just now?”

The palace maid looked puzzled, ”No, Sister Su Xue, who do you want to ask about?”

Su Xue pursued, ”You didn’t see anyone?”

The palace maid shook her head in bewilderment.

”It’s nothing, just the palace has been quite chaotic lately.” Su Xue said, ”Go ask the others if they’ve seen anyone.”

The palace maid agreed and hurried to ask around.

But no one saw anyone enter Calm Palace.

General Rong clearly entered through the main hall gate...

Su Xue didn’t know which way Rong Shi exited, so she could only dismiss everyone and guard the door herself.

Night fell, and Su Xue heard Chuzheng’s voice from inside.

Su Xue quickly pushed the door open and went in.

The room had a faint fragrance, a scent... that wasn’t here before.

Chuzheng was sitting barefoot on the edge of the bed, casually draped in a garment, her long black hair cascading down her back, looking every inch like a beauty stepping out from a painting.

Only Chuzheng was in the room; General Rong was nowhere to be seen.

Su Xue glanced at the open window, her brows tightly furrowed.

”A bath.”

Su Xue: ”...”

Su Xue called for hot water, but Chuzheng still wouldn’t let her serve.
