Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 1412: Chapter 1412: The Power Behind the General’s Family (22)

Chuzheng actually didn’t know that the Young Emperor could still remember what his father told him.

What could she say?

In this situation, of course—

”Good luck.”

This old woman can only help you this far.

Matters of state, as a mature Emperor, you can handle yourself.

Young Emperor: ”...”

-

Just as Chuzheng returned to the Summer Resort, she was told that something had happened.

Princess Yudie had been stung by wasps.

The Imperial Physician had treated her, and there was no danger to her life, but her face was swollen like a pig’s head.

Princess Yudie’s personal Palace Maid, Zhizhi, because she protected Princess Yudie, was in a much worse condition than the Princess.

Chuzheng had a headache: ”How on earth did she get stung by wasps?”

She had only gone out for a day!

How could something have happened!!

She had told that little girl several times that no matter who called, she mustn’t leave her chamber!

She took her words as wind past her ears!

”This...”

The Palace Maids seemed afraid to speak.

Chuzheng slapped the table, speaking coldly: ”Speak.”

The Palace Maids knelt down with a thud, one of them stammering, ”It was... it was the Third Princess who invited her out, we didn’t know what happened. When brought back, the Princess... the Princess was already like this.”

The Third Princess...

It’s her again.

Such a troublemaker needs more homework.

Always causing trouble.

It’s going to lead to death.

”I told you to watch her, not to let her out; how did you watch her?”

”Replying to The Empress Dowager, it was... it was the Third Princess...”

The Third Princess has always had a big temper.

Scolding Palace Maids and eunuchs was a common thing.

”Do you listen to her or to me?”

”...”

The Palace Maids dared not speak, trembling on their knees.

Whatever was said now was useless, so Chuzheng had them go to receive their punishment.

She got up and walked into the inner room, where the female doctor was applying ointment to the areas stung by wasps on Princess Yudie as instructed by the Imperial Physician.

”The Empress Dowager...”

Chuzheng gestured with her hand, indicating they needn’t mind her.

How am I supposed to explain this to the Good Person Card?

-

Rong Shi rushed over after receiving the news, and it was already dusk.

Everyone else in the hall had retreated, leaving just Chuzheng and Su Xue.

Rong Shi entered, carrying an air of murderous intent. He glanced at Chuzheng, bowed, and addressed her with a moderate tone: ”The Empress Dowager.”

Chuzheng’s brow twitched.

Is it over or not?

If the Good Person Card and I fall out, should I break his legs and lock him up, or break his legs and lock him up!!

Chuzheng steadied herself: ”Su Xue, you go out first.”

”Yes.”

Su Xue exited the inner chamber.

Rong Shi walked to the bedside, looking through the thin curtain at the person inside.

Princess Yudie’s face was almost unrecognizable.

Swollen beyond recognition.

”How is she?” Rong Shi asked in a low voice.

”The Imperial Physician says her life is not in danger,” Chuzheng replied.

”Is her face okay? Will there be any long-term effects?”

”The swelling will subside.”

Rong Shi looked for a while, then turned around.

”Does the Empress Dowager know who did it?”

”Rong Shi, I will handle this matter.”

”The Empress Dowager, I just want to know.” His eyes were calm, showing no emotion.

Chuzheng was silent for a few seconds: ”The Third Princess.”

Rong Shi saluted and took his leave: ”I, the humble servant, should not stay long and will take my leave now.”

As Rong Shi stepped out of the inner chamber, his wrist was grabbed, and then his whole body was pinned against the wall by a petite girl pressing against him.

Feeling a warmth not his own, his body inexplicably tensed up.

The one holding him was so strong that he couldn’t seem to break free.

A trace of panic flashed across Rong Shi’s handsome face.

”Empress Dowager, this is the palace, what are you trying to do?”

”Don’t worry, no one will come in,” Chuzheng pressed him: ”I warn you, don’t act rashly. You know, this is the palace.”

Rong Shi gave up struggling, lowering his voice: ”The Empress Dowager, for things done, a price must be paid.”

”Do you care so much for her?”

Chuzheng’s tone was a bit off, and Rong Shi frowned slightly.

”She is my only relative.”

”The Rong Family...” So many people, are they all dead?

Rong Shi’s face turned ugly: ”I have nothing to do with them.”

Rong Shi broke away from Chuzheng, retreating to a safe distance.

”I, the humble servant, take my leave.”

Rong Shi quickly left, and Su Xue’s voice came in from outside.

Chuzheng’s fingers rubbed back and forth, calling Su Xue in.

”Is General Rong not on good terms with the Rong Family?”

Su Xue did not understand why her Empress Dowager was so concerned about General Rong.

She cautiously replied: ”I... I don’t know... Should I inquire about it?”

Hadn’t heard that General Rong didn’t get along with the Rong Family?

On the contrary, because of General Rong, the Rong Family’s status had risen with the tide.

With Princess Yudie alone in the palace, if the Rong Family had spoken up and shown more concern, Princess Yudie wouldn’t have had to live like that.

Chuzheng had Su Xue investigate this matter.

-

Princess Yudie woke up the next day.

The Third Princess came to invite her out to play, and Princess Yudie, always oppressed by them, habitually lowered her head and complied in front of these people.

But she never expected the Third Princess to be so vicious.

Deliberately poured honey water on her.

”I told you not to go out, why didn’t you listen to me?”

”Mother... I’m sorry.”

Princess Yudie’s voice was faint.

She lowered her head, not daring to meet Chuzheng’s eyes.

She didn’t want to go out either.

But the Third Princess had many ways to torment her.

She could avoid it once, but not forever.

”The Empress Dowager, The Empress Dowager...” A Palace Maid rushed in hectically: ”Zhizhi... Zhizhi is not going to make it.”

”What, what did you say?”

Princess Yudie struggled to get out of bed.

”What happened to Zhizhi?”

”Zhizhi...”

Princess Yudie ran out barefoot, stumbling.

In Zhizhi’s room, the Imperial Physicians were all shaking their heads.

Princess Yudie suddenly burst in, startling everyone in the room.

”Princess Yudie...”

”Princess...”

Princess Yudie pushed away those blocking her: ”Zhizhi.”

Princess Yudie pounced to the bedside.

The person there had already ceased breathing.

”Zhizhi!!”

-

Zhizhi was dead.

Princess Yudie had been stung, but it was just minor injuries.

But Zhizhi, in protecting her, suffered far more severe injuries than she did.

In such an environment, the Imperial Physicians had no way to save her.

Chuzheng didn’t go in; she stood outside.

Listening to Princess Yudie’s heart-wrenching cries.

After some unknown amount of time, Princess Yudie suddenly rushed out, kneeling barefoot in front of Chuzheng.

”I beg Mother to make a decision for your child.”

”First, send the Princess back to her room.”

”Mother.” Princess Yudie clutched Chuzheng’s skirt, her voice filled with hatred: ”I beg you to seek justice for me.”

Chuzheng helped her up and entrusted her to someone beside her, her tone as cold as ever: ”Take the Princess back to her room.”

”Mother...”

”Mother!!”

After everyone had dispersed, Chuzheng rubbed her temples.

”The Empress Dowager, what do you plan to do about this?” Su Xue supported Chuzheng as they walked back: ”The Third Princess’s maternal family is Marquis Boan’s Mansion...”

Marquis Boan’s Mansion holds real power.

Even if the Third Princess’s mother consort is not present, as long as Marquis Boan’s Mansion stands strong, the Third Princess will be fine.

Chuzheng: ”...”

What a headache.
