Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 579: Chapter 579: Promotion

Watching the Saint Heir’s flustered and exasperated demeanor, Qin Yue couldn’t help but snort coldly. ”Sometimes, man’s schemes are no match for heaven’s will. Since you’ve tried everything and yet Qingchen still persists, this is simply fate!”

The Saint Heir retorted with a cold laugh, ”For a reincarnator like you to lecture me about fate... don’t you find that laughable? I don’t care if this kid dies or not, but I will make him understand that his entire destiny is held in the palm of my hand!”

After speaking, the Saint Heir glanced at Li Rui.

Li Rui hastily paid his respects and said to the Saint Heir, ”Your Holiness, there is still a team from the Central Celestial Academy inside the Secret Realm, so the advancement Formation cannot be activated yet.”

The Saint Heir turned his gaze to the light screen and saw that, far from Ye Qingchen’s position, a team was indeed slowly approaching him.

With a cold snort, the Saint Heir said, ”You should have understood my orders. From now on, do not break the rules, only relay information. Whether or not that kid can advance is his own problem!”

Li Rui nodded blankly, not understanding why the Saint Heir had returned from his trip with such a bizarre temper. However, Li Rui also knew he had no right to question the Saint Heir and could only follow his orders.

Inside the Secret Realm, Ye Qingchen was already covered in wounds. If not for the abundant life force provided by his Willow Wood Martial Soul, anyone else would have already died in this siege.

Surrounding Ye Qingchen were at least sixty students from the three major academies. These students, as if by prior arrangement, had trapped him within three concentric layers. Even if Ye Qingchen managed to break through the first layer at the cost of severe injuries, the second layer would instantly close the gap. Not to mention the third layer, whose members were watching covetously.

Ye Qingchen was unaware that Zi Xing had already sought help from Elder Yang, or that Elder Yang had forcefully confronted the ten great Ancient Clans to demand the fairness he was owed. Right now, Ye Qingchen’s eyes held nothing but despair.

After all, I’m just at the Seventh Layer of the Martial King Realm, while the weakest of my opponents has reached the Second Layer of the Martial Emperor Realm. There are more than ten at the Third Layer, and three or four at the Fourth Layer!

No matter how astonishingly talented Ye Qingchen was, all clever tricks were futile in the face of such opponents.

Even with the Dual Pupil Martial Soul, the Willow Wood Martial Soul, the regenerative properties of the Wood Attribute, and the Spirit Gathering Array inscribed within his body, Ye Qingchen’s Energy was still being consumed at a terrifying rate. He understood perfectly that his predicament would not change even if he held on for a little longer. His opponents remained overwhelmingly powerful, and he could only defend passively. Any additional recovery methods would only delay his inevitable death.

As for the students from the three major academies besieging him, they were now completely at ease. In the current situation, there was no way Ye Qingchen could escape death. Although they also consumed Spiritual Energy while attacking him, there were simply too many of them. Nearly half couldn’t even get into the inner circle of the siege at any given time. Therefore, whenever someone’s Spiritual Energy was depleted, another would quickly take their place. Because of this, the pressure on Ye Qingchen never lessened. In fact, as his stamina failed, the pressure he faced only grew greater.

The other team from Central Celestial Academy that Li Rui mentioned was, in fact, Wang Teng’s team.

After learning that Central Celestial Academy was being targeted by the three major academies, Wang Teng had suggested they hide and try to survive until the finals. Although Central Celestial Academy might still place last, Wang Teng’s team consisted entirely of disciples from Duanjin Academy. When the time came for the ten spots in the Demon Clan battlefield to be allocated, Duanjin Academy could claim a large portion of them.

Given Wang Teng’s status, no one in the team dared to refute him, even though he had only just reached the First Layer of the Martial Emperor Realm. Thus, they followed his plan and began hiding within the Secret Realm.

”Li Rui, clear out those flies. I can’t wait to see Ye Qingchen die in the Secret Realm!” the Saint Heir said coldly.

Because of his promise to Elder Yang, the Saint Heir didn’t dare to kill Ye Qingchen during the first phase, even if he was defeated. He had to ensure Ye Qingchen was teleported out to placate Elder Yang’s anger. Therefore, the Saint Heir would only have a chance to kill him after he reached the finals. As a result, Wang Teng’s team was obstructing his plans.

Although Li Rui didn’t understand the full picture, he still dispatched a group of students to hunt down Wang Teng’s team.

Meanwhile, Ye Qingchen was besieged by dozens of people. His mind was in turmoil as he desperately tried to find a way to break through while simultaneously defending against the onslaught of attacks. Even with his swift movement technique, he was simply facing too many assailants. He failed to dodge on several occasions and was struck multiple times, leaving his body severely wounded and bleeding profusely. His aura grew turbulent and his breathing became ragged. As his injuries worsened and his Spiritual Power was rapidly depleted, Ye Qingchen’s condition grew more and more dire.

”Wait, don’t let him be defeated here. A simple defeat would be letting him off too easily. I want him dead!” the Saint Heir transmitted his voice coldly to Li Rui.

Li Rui was even more stunned. The Saint Heir was right beside him, yet he chose to use a sound transmission instead of speaking aloud. This showed just how seriously he was taking this matter.

There’s no one else here besides Qin Yue. Is the Saint Heir guarding against her? But how could that be possible? If Qin Yue truly had such power, she wouldn’t have been imprisoned here by the Saint Heir for so long.

Whether Li Rui understood or not, he still relayed the Saint Heir’s orders. He instructed the attackers to reduce the frequency of their assault, trying to avoid killing Ye Qingchen while still ensuring he could advance.

By now, Li Rui had a rough grasp of the Saint Heir’s intentions. The gist was simple: for various reasons, there could be no more deaths in the first phase, meaning Ye Qingchen could not be allowed to die yet. In the second phase, however, life and death would be determined by fate, making it perfectly justifiable to kill him then.

Moreover, the area of the Secret Realm would be greatly reduced in the second phase. The predicament Ye Qingchen would face then would be nearly identical to this one. So, even if Ye Qingchen advanced, his ultimate fate was still inescapable death.

Under Li Rui’s direction, a team quickly found Wang Teng’s group. They crushed them in short order, sending them fleeing in terror and eliminating them from the trial.

Thus, Ye Qingchen became the sole remaining disciple of Central Celestial Academy within the Secret Realm and, as such, he automatically advanced to the next stage.
