Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 550: Chapter 550: Misunderstanding

Li Nian’er was keeping track of the time, growing more and more anxious by the moment. She still didn’t want to go rescue Ye Qingchen, as that would make it seem like she was backing down.

You’re a Martial King. You can’t possibly die in a waterfall, can you? Li Nian’er muttered, trying to reassure herself, but her tightly clenched fists betrayed her anxiety.

No, that’s not right. I told him not to use his Spiritual Power. I said if he couldn’t hold on, I would save him. Could he really be that foolish? Is he really that obedient?

Li Nian’er kept muttering to herself, a fierce struggle raging in her mind.

As time ticked away, another quarter of an hour passed. Li Nian’er finally couldn’t stand it any longer and leaped into the deep pool.

At this moment, Ye Qingchen was continuously communing with the surrounding nature’s spiritual energy. Having already mastered its use, he could feel a peculiar sensation in the lake water. However, this sensation remained elusive, and Ye Qingchen couldn’t quite grasp its essence.

Just then, Li Nian’er plunged into the water. Upon seeing Ye Qingchen meditating there, she let out a sigh of relief, which was quickly followed by a surge of anger.

This guy was actually meditating so leisurely while I was worried sick! What a bastard!

Li Nian’er swam directly to his side, grabbed his arm, and hauled him out of the water.

Poor Ye Qingchen was at the critical moment of his enlightenment, but Li Nian’er’s sudden interruption had just cost him a precious opportunity. He stood on the shore, annoyed. He had been so close—so close to understanding the peculiarity he had sensed.

This feeling of enlightenment wasn’t something that came on command; it was a Martial Artist’s fortuitous chance. Ye Qingchen understood that even if he jumped back in now, he would never be able to find that feeling again. He couldn’t understand why his senior sister, who had sent him here to train in the first place, would interrupt him at such a crucial moment.

Just as Ye Qingchen was thinking about how to question her, Li Nian’er leaped out of the water and landed in front of him. Ye Qingchen, who had been about to confront her, was struck dumb and simply stood there, his mouth agape in surprise.

Li Nian’er, however, was irate. Pointing at his nose, she began to scold him.

”Did the waterfall knock your brains loose? Once you fell into the pool, couldn’t you have surfaced? Meditating at the bottom of the lake... I thought you had died in there!”

Ye Qingchen didn’t hear a single word of her scolding. He was still staring at her, dumbfounded. The reason was simple. In her frantic worry, Li Nian’er hadn’t bothered to use her Spiritual Power to part the water and had dived straight in. As a result, her clothes were completely soaked.

Li Nian’er was already dressed in a bold, summery style. Now drenched, her outfit became even more revealing, leaving almost nothing to the imagination. Her ample bosom, now only vaguely concealed by the wet cloth, possessed a mysterious allure. This, combined with her furious scolding, showcased her perfect figure to the fullest. Even with his considerable willpower, Ye Qingchen found it hard to remain calm in the face of such a sight, feeling a surge of heat rush through him.

Li Nian’er had expected Ye Qingchen to offer some excuses when she scolded him. To her surprise, he seemed too frightened to speak. Just as she was feeling a bit smug, she noticed his eyes were glued to her. Following his gaze, Li Nian’er looked down and finally realized her own embarrassing state.

”Pervert!”

Li Nian’er’s face instantly turned crimson. Mortified, she slapped Ye Qingchen across the face.

Ye Qingchen, completely mesmerized by the beautiful sight before him, was caught off guard. The terrifying force of the blow sent him flying uncontrollably, and he crashed heavily back into the pool.

Li Nian’er was now both ashamed and furious. While Ye Qingchen was in the water, she quickly took some clean clothes from her storage ring to change into. She was ashamed that Ye Qingchen had seen nearly all of her. She was furious that he, her junior brother, had not only seen her in such a compromising position but had stared for so long without a word of warning.

In truth, it wasn’t Ye Qingchen’s fault. Li Nian’er simply didn’t realize the immense power her body held over men.

Having been slapped, Ye Qingchen knew he was in the wrong and didn’t dare linger in the water. He channeled his Spiritual Power and leaped back onto the shore.

But, as luck would have it, he landed just as Li Nian’er had shed her wet clothes.

He saw everything.

Great. Now, anything he might have missed before was on full, crystal-clear display.

By this point, Li Nian’er’s face was flushed to the roots of her ears. She hastily fumbled with her clean clothes, trying to put them on. Ye Qingchen had learned his lesson. He shot her only a brief glance before hurriedly turning around and jumping back into the water.

A few moments later, guessing that Li Nian’er must have finished dressing, Ye Qingchen cautiously poked his head out. After confirming she was fully clothed, he returned to the shore and carefully asked, ”Senior Sister, should I continue my training now?”

Li Nian’er kicked him in the rear and snapped, ”Train my foot! If you dare breathe a word of what happened today to anyone, you’ll answer to me!”

Ye Qingchen nodded immediately and turned to apologize.

By now, Li Nian’er had calmed down. She knew she couldn’t really blame Ye Qingchen for what had happened. Besides, as his senior sister, being seen by him once wasn’t such a catastrophe. However, Ye Qingchen’s constant apologies were starting to annoy her, as every time he apologized, it forced her to recall the embarrassing scene from moments ago.

So, Li Nian’er waved her hand dismissively. ”Enough nonsense. Did you make any progress while you were ’training’ in the lake just now?”

Ye Qingchen scratched his head and sighed. ”To be honest, Senior Sister, from the very beginning, I felt that the nature’s spiritual energy in the lake was unusual, but I couldn’t pinpoint why. I had just started to get a grasp on it, I was about to figure it out, but then you interrupted...”

Hearing him about to bring up the incident again, Li Nian’er quickly cut him off. ”You said you felt something unusual in the water?”

Ye Qingchen nodded. ”That’s right. The nature’s spiritual energy here seems different from other places, but I can’t quite put my finger on how.”

Li Nian’er’s heart stirred, and she looked at Ye Qingchen in astonishment.

Could it be? Is my junior brother’s perception really this strong?
