Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Two Months of Help Work

Li Qingfeng now placed all his hopes on the Pavilion Master of the Alchemy Pavilion, trusting he could uncover Ye Qingchen’s anomaly so that the Qingyun Sect could prepare for any eventuality.

By now, Ye Qingchen had made his way to the Alchemy Pavilion with practiced ease. The disciples there were quite familiar with him, as he had made a sensational debut on his last visit. Therefore, his journey to Vice Pavilion Master Liu’s residence was unimpeded. He knocked lightly on the door and, after hearing a response, opened it and went inside.

Vice Pavilion Master Liu was so engrossed in studying a pill prescription that he didn’t even notice Ye Qingchen’s entrance. Ye Qingchen wasn’t in a hurry and just waited quietly by his side. About an hour later, Vice Pavilion Master Liu finally looked up, appearing somewhat surprised to see Ye Qingchen before him.

”You, boy? When did you get here?” Vice Pavilion Master Liu didn’t stand on ceremony and chided him directly.

Ye Qingchen smiled and shook his head. ”I just arrived a moment ago. I hope I didn’t disturb you, Vice Pavilion Master Liu?”

Seeing Ye Qingchen put him in a great mood, and Vice Pavilion Master Liu laughed. ”You’re quite reliable, aren’t you? Have you come to fulfill the two-month agreement?”

Ye Qingchen felt a little embarrassed. He had indeed promised Vice Pavilion Master Liu he would help with alchemy in the Alchemy Pavilion for two months, but he had completely forgotten about it before coming here. Now that Vice Pavilion Master Liu had mentioned it, he could only scratch his head awkwardly in silence.

Vice Pavilion Master Liu naturally understood his reaction and said with a laugh, ”When did you become so modest, boy? If you have something to say, just say it. What’s the point of hesitating?”

Heartened by the vice pavilion master’s hearty words, Ye Qingchen relaxed and replied with a smile, ”Vice Pavilion Master Liu, I’m actually here on the Sect Master’s orders to seek an audience with the Pavilion Master of the Alchemy Pavilion.”

Vice Pavilion Master Liu snorted. ”When you participated in the Heart Demon Tower competition, I took a strong liking to you and wanted to take you as my disciple. But your performance was so outstanding that I never brought it up again. Now, tell me, why are you really here?”

Since the discussion about taking him as a disciple had happened among the elders, Ye Qingchen was unaware of it. Hearing Vice Pavilion Master Liu mention it now left him feeling rather embarrassed. Not knowing how to explain, he could only scratch his head and say, ”Please forgive me, Vice Pavilion Master Liu. After leaving the Heart Demon Tower, I felt something was wrong with my body. The Sect Master personally investigated but found nothing. That’s why he sent me to find the Pavilion Master of the Alchemy Pavilion, hoping he could help identify the changes in my body.”

As he spoke, Ye Qingchen watched the vice pavilion master’s expression. Seeing that he seemed unimpressed, he added, ”The Sect Master said that within our Qingyun Sect, the one with the strongest Soul Power is our very own Pavilion Master of the Alchemy Pavilion. That’s why I’m so confident about this visit, and I hope you can help with an introduction.”

Ye Qingchen’s flattery hit the mark. Although he hadn’t praised Vice Pavilion Master Liu directly, the man had always idolized the Pavilion Master. Hearing that the Sect Master held his idol in such high regard made him beam with joy.

He patted Ye Qingchen’s shoulder, a broad smile on his face. ”You’ve come to the right person, young man. As long as the Pavilion Master is willing to help, your problem will be solved in a flash. You’re also quite lucky. The Pavilion Master travels often and isn’t easy to meet. We just received news this morning that he is expected to return to the Qingyun Sect in the coming days. When he does, I’ll be sure to tell him about your situation.”

Hearing this, Ye Qingchen felt a mix of disappointment and anticipation. He was disappointed that he couldn’t meet the enigmatic Pavilion Master right away to have his condition examined. At the same time, he was excited by the thought that the truth about his body would soon be revealed.

With this in mind, Ye Qingchen nodded, bowed to Vice Pavilion Master Liu, and said, ”Then I thank you for the introduction, Vice Pavilion Master Liu.”

After speaking, Ye Qingchen prepared to leave. His injuries hadn’t fully healed yet, and he was keen to take the Healing Elixir Li Qingfeng had given him. He wanted to return quickly, consume the Spirit Pill, and recover. However, Vice Pavilion Master Liu reached out and stopped him.

The vice pavilion master spoke in a mysterious tone, ”Young fellow, have you forgotten something?”

Ye Qingchen shook his head, looking bewildered.

Vice Pavilion Master Liu huffed in annoyance. ”When you traded for those herbs, you promised to work in the Alchemy Pavilion for two months. You wouldn’t go back on your word, would you?”

Realization dawned on Ye Qingchen’s face. He nodded with a wry smile and explained, ”Of course not, Vice Pavilion Master Liu. It’s just that I’m injured. I wanted to recover first so I could be of better service to the Alchemy Pavilion when I returned.”

Vice Pavilion Master Liu was unswayed by his explanation. With this kid’s monstrous talent, who knows when the Sect Master might teach him some profound Cultivation Technique? If he goes into closed-door cultivation for half a year or more, wouldn’t the herbs I traded him be all for nothing?

Therefore, he certainly wasn’t going to let Ye Qingchen leave so easily. ”Your injuries will be nothing once the Pavilion Master handles them,” he said. ”Besides, he’ll be back soon, so just stay in the Alchemy Pavilion today. I’ll show you around so you can get familiar with the place. That way, you can get to work quickly when you officially start.”

Without waiting for a reply, Vice Pavilion Master Liu decisively pulled Ye Qingchen outside.

”This is where the Qingyun Sect stores its medicinal herbs,” Vice Pavilion Master Liu said proudly, leading Ye Qingchen to a place called the Medicine Pavilion. As he spoke, he pushed open the door. A refreshing fragrance of herbs wafted out, invigorating their spirits.

A glance inside revealed a dazzling array of herbs. Many varieties that were rare in the outside world were commonplace here. Ye Qingchen marveled internally. The Qingyun Sect truly lives up to its reputation as the number one sect in the Northern Desolate Country. The sheer value of the herbal stockpile in this Medicine Pavilion alone is enough to make the great clans of the outside world green with envy. If a mere one-star sect like the Qingyun Sect is this impressive, then what must the Wuji Immortal Palace, the nine-star sect Xiao Xiao joined, be like?
