Invincible Soul Emperor

Chapter 22: Chapter 22 Vermilion Bird Holy Soul Missing a Part

”Why are you so furious?”

The commotion had disturbed Madam Li, who was taking a walk with her daughter, Li Susu. The mother-daughter duo entered the pavilion.

”Father!” Li Susu greeted Li Zhe with a smile.

After learning that Liu Haizhou had gone to the Ye Family to avenge her, Li Susu’s mood had improved considerably, and a rare smile graced her face.

Li Zhe glanced at Madam Li. He seemed to want to say something, but after a look at Li Susu, he held his tongue.

”What exactly is going on? If you have something to say, spit it out!” Madam Li demanded, growing anxious.

Li Zhe sighed and forced himself to speak. ”Something seems to have happened to Liu Haizhou and his master, Wang Hu, at the Ye Family!”

At these words, Li Susu’s smile froze. Madam Li’s expression also changed, and she cast a questioning gaze at the clansman who brought the news. ”What exactly happened?”

The informant began cautiously, ”I speculate that Young Master Liu Haizhou and Wang Hu have met with misfortune at the Ye Family!”

”That’s impossible!” Li Susu exclaimed instinctively.

What a joke! I’m still waiting for Liu Haizhou to kill Ye Qingchen and return in triumph! Even if Liu Haizhou couldn’t kill Ye Qingchen, Wang Hu is a martial master, more than capable of obliterating the Ye Family by himself. How could he possibly die there?

Madam Li’s expression was a mixture of uncertainty and alarm, a foreboding feeling growing in her heart.

”Your information must be wrong! Take more men, surround the Ye Family, and investigate again!” Li Zhe’s face sank, and he commanded with unstoppable rage.

”Yes, Clan Leader!” The informant, trembling with fear, nodded repeatedly and hurried away.

”This has ruined my mood!” Li Zhe no longer felt like enjoying his tea. With an abrupt flick of his sleeve, he turned and stalked out of the pavilion.

「The Ye Family.」

Ye Changyun ordered that the clansmen who had died in battle be buried properly and their relatives comforted. These men had died for the Ye Family; they had to be given the honor they deserved and their families the pensions they were owed.

At the same time, Ye Changyun personally destroyed Liu Haizhou’s corpse, leaving no trace behind. As for Wang Hu’s body, it had already been incinerated to ash, saving them the trouble.

Both men were from the Heavenly Profound Sect, the second-largest sect in the Northern Desolate Country. If anyone found a clue that they had died here and the experts from the Heavenly Profound Sect came to investigate, even a hundred Ye Families would be wiped out. As for the people who saw Wang Hu and his disciple enter the Ye Family grounds and disappear, they could just deny everything without a shred of evidence.

「In Ye Qingchen’s Room.」

Ye Qingchen sat cross-legged on his bed, meditating.

After circulating the perfected family Cultivation Technique for one Grand Circulation, Ye Qingchen exhaled a long, turbid breath and slowly opened his eyes.

The effects of the second-grade Reviving Spirit Pill were truly amazing. In just a few days, his injuries were eighty percent healed, and his cultivation had also benefited. He faintly sensed he was on the verge of breaking through to the Ninth Layer of the Martial Apprentice realm.

”I should go see how Xiao Xiao is recovering,” Ye Qingchen muttered to himself as he rose and walked toward the door.

Over the past few days, he had visited Xiao Xiao daily at the Grand Elder’s residence. He had been quite worried at first, but under the Grand Elder’s meticulous care, Xiao Xiao’s condition improved day by day, and he could finally rest easy.

Next to the Grand Elder’s Alchemy Room was a dedicated resting room, originally for the elder’s own use. This time, he had specially ordered it to be cleaned out for Xiao Xiao to stay in, making it more convenient for him to treat her injuries.

”Come now, young lady, time for your medicine!” The Grand Elder emerged from the Alchemy Room and entered the resting area, handing a snow-white elixir to Xiao Xiao.

”Thank you, Grand Elder!” Xiao Xiao smiled sweetly. Her red lips parted lightly as she swallowed the elixir. Instantly, a cool, refreshing sensation flowed down her throat and into her abdomen, calming the feverish restlessness in her body.

”Why be so polite! Without you, little one, our Ye Family might have already been annihilated! It is I who should be thanking you on behalf of the entire family!” The Grand Elder looked at Xiao Xiao and teased with a smile. ”It’s true what they say, you reap what you sow! It’s a good thing I didn’t stubbornly refuse when Ye Qingchen first brought you here. Otherwise, I would have regretted it into the afterlife!”

Xiao Xiao pursed her lips in a smile. ”Grand Elder, stop trying to take all the credit! You clearly only saved me because of the improved Ye Family Technique that the Young Master had!”

After interacting with him for a few days, Xiao Xiao found that the Grand Elder wasn’t as severe and rigid as family rumors suggested. In fact, he was quite gentle and attentive toward her.

Exposed, the Grand Elder’s white beard couldn’t help but twitch. ”Young lady, I’m an old man. Can’t you show a little respect for your elders and not poke at my old wounds?”

After speaking, he chuckled at himself and became lost in thought. Ye Qingchen’s luck is truly heaven-defying. He randomly picked up a young girl from the street, and who would have thought she’d possess a ten-star Vermilion Bird Holy Soul! A ten-star Martial Soul is called a Holy Soul! It’s said that only one in hundreds of millions is a Martial Artist born with a Holy Soul. And those with a Holy Soul almost all become supreme beings on the Heaven Desolate Continent, revered by countless people. As long as Xiao Xiao doesn’t perish prematurely, she is destined to become a powerhouse on the Heaven Desolate Continent!

Xiao Xiao was unaware of the Grand Elder’s thoughts. She stuck out her tongue at him before turning to look outside the room, her clear, beautiful eyes filled with anticipation. ”These past few days, the Young Master always visits me around this time. He should be here soon.”

Her words had barely faded when she saw Ye Qingchen walk in. Excitement lit up her beautiful eyes as she bounced over to greet him. ”Young Master!”

Ye Qingchen patted Xiao Xiao’s head and smiled. ”How are you feeling today? Any better?”

Xiao Xiao nodded vigorously. ”I feel completely better! Look, I’m perfectly fine! I really want to go back and stay with you today, Young Master!”

Ye Qingchen chuckled. ”Not yet. The Grand Elder said you need another month to recover completely. You must stay here for treatment until then!”

Xiao Xiao nodded with resignation. ”Alright then.”

The three of them chatted for a while when the Grand Elder, remembering something, asked, ”Xiao Xiao, do you truly have no recollection of what happened when you killed Wang Hu?”

Xiao Xiao’s delicate brows furrowed. She tried hard to remember for a long moment before helplessly shaking her head. She had been knocked unconscious by Wang Hu’s palm and knew nothing of what followed.

That shouldn’t be! The Grand Elder’s eyes showed his confusion. Even though the Vermilion Bird Holy Soul awakened prematurely, it should still resonate with Xiao Xiao. Why would she have no memory of killing Wang Hu?

”Ah, my head hurts so much!”

As she struggled to remember, something seemed to surface. Her expression changed, and a look of intense pain twisted her pretty features. She clutched her head and collapsed, rolling on the ground in agony.

Ye Qingchen rushed to hold her. Her skin was scorching hot to the touch, and his expression changed drastically. ”Xiao Xiao, what’s wrong?”

The Grand Elder quickly placed his hand on Xiao Xiao’s forehead. The next moment, his expression grew grim. ”This is bad! There’s a problem with Xiao Xiao’s Holy Soul! I can’t believe I failed to detect that part of her Heaven-Gifted Martial Spirit was missing!”
