Invincible Snake Emperor

Chapter 625: Chapter 599: Guarding Against a Thief

This Immortal Spirit Peacock still held a deep grudge about having to eat rice back then, as if it had become a lifelong nightmare she could never erase.

Now that the Azure Owl had achieved her Transformation, she was going to eat all the delicious food the human world had to offer. She would never go back to the Tu Family to eat rice again.

The Azure Owl’s transformed appearance was breathtaking, but standing before her, Su Rushi was not the least bit overshadowed. If the two great beauties were to go out together, they would probably cause the streets to empty as everyone rushed to see them.

Suddenly, the Azure Owl said, ”I think my rotten master is here.”

Ah...!

Su Rushi instantly covered her mouth, looking a little flustered. ”Where? Where is he?”

”Hee hee, I was just teasing you.” The Azure Owl’s beautiful eyes widened, sparkling as she looked at her. ”To think someone actually misses that rotten master of mine. Your taste really isn’t all that great.”

If Tu Xiao’an heard that, he would be furious. He’d probably think indignantly, ’I raised this Peacock Bird for nothing.’

’Biting the hand that feeds you.’

Su Rushi, however, blushed faintly. ”What do you mean, miss him? I was just thinking about my pet snake.”

Suddenly, an idea occurred to her. To maintain the purity of the relationship between a human and a snake, if he came, she would have to set an unwritten rule with him.

And that rule would be... he wasn’t allowed to use his Transformation.

’Mm... Hmph, that’s right!’

As the two beauties were laughing and joking around in the room, the door suddenly opened. An old man with a full head of white hair but brimming with vitality appeared, and in an instant, both Su Rushi and the Azure Owl fell silent.

This old man was, of course, the Vice-Dean.

”Grandpa, you’re back!” Seeing her grandfather, Su Rushi quickly ran over and affectionately linked her arm with his.

The Vice-Dean looked dotingly at his granddaughter, who had finally returned to him, and nodded. ”Shi’Er, Grandpa has good news for you. All the Fierce Beasts in Wencheng have been killed. Ever since you came back, Grandpa has been busy with external affairs and has neglected you. You’re not upset with Grandpa, are you?”

Su Rushi had been sent back just as Wencheng was being assaulted by Fierce Beasts. As the Vice-Dean of the Ancient Academy, he had far too many things to deal with.

”Grandpa, you’re a great man who puts the public good before family. Why would I be angry?”

The Vice-Dean stroked her head. ”Don’t make your grandpa out to be so noble. In my heart, my granddaughter is more important than anything else in the world.”

”Let Grandpa check your pulse.” The Vice-Dean took Su Rushi’s wrist, and a glowing strand of Energy flowed from his hand, through her wrist, and into her body.

Su Rushi said with a smile, ”Grandpa, Shi’Er’s body is fine now. It’s been days since I’ve had an episode, and I don’t feel cold anymore either.”

After a brief examination, the Vice-Dean suddenly turned his gaze to the now-quiet Azure Owl and said, ”Peacock Bird, when your master had you bring my granddaughter back, didn’t he give you something for me?”

”Nope!” The Azure Owl blinked her eyes. She knew this old man was very powerful, so she didn’t dare act impudently in front of him.

The Vice-Dean immediately stroked his beard and said, ”How could there be nothing? I made it very clear to your master that he was to bring the Centennial Ice Divine Fruit back with him.”

”But there really isn’t,” the Azure Owl said with an innocent expression, looking devastatingly cute.

The Vice-Dean was so angry his beard bristled and his eyes went wide.

”Grandpa, I haven’t even had an episode, so it’s fine even if I don’t have the Ice Divine Fruit to eat.”

”What do you mean, ’it’s fine’? Do you think I don’t know your own body? Can a Taiyin Cold Body just disappear into thin air?” The Vice-Dean’s expression turned grim. ”When I examined you just now, the Yin Power inside you was clearly stirring. Are you still trying to hide it from me?”

Su Rushi immediately shut her mouth and gave a weak smile.

The Vice-Dean turned his attention back to the Azure Owl, refusing to let the matter drop. ”And what about that master of yours? Tell him to come see me.”

”Old man, he’s my master, not the other way around. How am I supposed to make him come see you?” the Azure Owl retorted, dissatisfied.

The Vice-Dean gave a smile that wasn’t a smile. ”You two are master and servant, bound by soul. Are you telling me you have no way to contact each other? Besides, he’s already in Wencheng, and he’s been raising hell in the fallen district, yet he refuses to show himself. Has his status risen so much that this old man can no longer request an audience with His Great Snakiness?”

The Azure Owl rolled her eyes and pretended not to hear him, silently chanting in her head, ’Smelly old man, damn old man, what’s he acting so smug for?’

”Grandpa, perhaps Xiaoleng is busy. The Azure Owl said her master will definitely come,” Su Rushi hurriedly interjected, trying to smooth things over.

The Vice-Dean sighed. His judgment was clouded by worry. Without The Protean Ice Divine Fruit, his granddaughter wouldn’t be able to suppress the Yin Power in her body, and her life would be in grave danger.

Suddenly, the Vice-Dean thought of something and asked, ”Shi’Er, that snake didn’t do anything to you, did he? Why do I get the feeling your relationship isn’t so simple? What’s with all this ’Xiaoleng, Xiaoleng’ business?”

”Grandpa, what are you talking about?” Su Rushi immediately protested.

”I just wanted to tell you, humans and demons follow different paths. A snake is a snake, even if it can use Transformation.”

Su Rushi’s face flushed red with embarrassment. ”Grandpa, you’re getting more and more ridiculous! I don’t even know what you’re talking about.”

”It’s best if you don’t.”

Seeing his granddaughter’s reaction, the Vice-Dean’s bad premonition grew even stronger. He became as wary as if he were guarding against a thief.

He knew all too well how alluring his granddaughter was to men. Even the White Demon King, a mighty Deep Mountain Demon King who had lived for thousands of years, had wanted to take her as his wife. There was no guarantee that snake wouldn’t get any wicked ideas.

Ever since they came down from the Yaoling Mountain Range, his granddaughter hadn’t been able to stop thinking about that snake. Could it be that the classic ”demon saves the damsel” scenario had led to... complications?

The Vice-Dean secretly erected a defensive wall in his mind. When that snake arrived, he couldn’t let him see his granddaughter again.

Just in case something unfortunate happened.
