Immortal-Exterminating Divine Venerable

”You’ve all heard about this, then?”

Xuan Shangqing said lightly.

Including himself, three Sect Leaders, a Great Elder, and a Supreme Elder were gathered. If you counted the patriarch of the Sword and Saber Alliance who was here before, then the leadership of the Six Great Sects was assembled.

Of course, the Sword and Saber Alliance answered to the Profound Celestial Sect. Given their stance, their presence here was inconsequential.

That was why Xuan Shangqing hadn’t asked them to stay.

And so, the leaders of the Six Great Sects were gathered here.

What were they discussing?

Xiao Bufan of Snow Moon Manor was the first to speak. ”That bastard Yang Xiao killed my Jun’er! He must die!”

”That’s right. My Tao’er also died by his hand. The boy must be killed. But Xiao Bufan, we are here to discuss matters of great importance. As for that whelp, let’s entrust him to Sect Leader Xuan. What do you say, Sect Leader Xuan?”

Zhang Baxian said calmly.

Unlike Xiao Bufan, he, who had also lost a son, was clearly far more composed.

”Zhang Baxian, I heard your favorite concubine gave you a son. You’ve wanted to get that useless Zhang Tao killed for a long time, haven’t you?”

Xiao Bufan snapped back, infuriated.

Zhang Baxian’s expression changed, and he looked ready to explode.

But he was cut off by Xuan Shangqing. ”We are here to discuss a matter of great importance to the entire Celestial Cloud Region. Why are you bickering over such petty issues?”

”I still think the Sword Casting Sect is untrustworthy.”

Just then, Bing Qingying, who had been silent until now, spoke up.

Her voice, like her presence, was icy cold.

”Us? Untrustworthy? Heh, I’d say it’s your Ice Profound Sect that can’t be trusted. You’ve been cozying up to the Pure Yang Sword Sect for years. Don’t think I’m not aware that several of your past Sect Leaders had secret affairs with Pure Yang Sword Sect disciples!”

Xingtian Qi retorted in a booming voice.

”Alright, that’s enough bickering. The Pure Yang Sword Sect’s sun has set. It’s only natural that the Sword Casting Sect would pledge allegiance to my Sect, as would the Ice Profound Sect. As would all of you. Now, let’s have a proper discussion about how to lure out that old bastard from the Pure Yang Sword Sect. As soon as he’s dead, the entire situation will be decided!”

”As for that little beast with the surname Yang, my Sect will send someone to handle him. Based on my judgment of his Vigorous Qi, he’s at the level of a Low-Tier Martial Saint at best, no matter how strong he seems. My Sect will dispatch a High-Tier Martial Saint to capture him. Then, you can deal with him however you see fit.”

Xuan Shangqing was growing impatient.

However, he didn’t let it show on his face.

’These fools.’

’I still have use for them for now. I’ll wait until that old bastard from the Pure Yang Sword Sect is dead.’

’And then...’

”Very well. I trust Sect Leader Xuan will handle this matter appropriately. Now then, let’s discuss... ah, that’s right. Sect Leader Xuan, you once said that the Northern Wilderness Sword Mansion is about to open. Is that true?”

Zhang Baxian was the first to steer the conversation away, asking for the information he most wanted to hear.

Sure enough, as soon as he spoke...

the other three turned to look, their faces full of anticipation.

They had formed an alliance this time...

...to deal with the Pure Yang Sword Sect.

It wasn’t just because the Pure Yang Sword Sect was in decline and the Profound Celestial Sect’s rise to supremacy was all but guaranteed. More importantly, it was because of the Northern Wilderness Sword Mansion.

The Northern Wilderness Sword Mansion.

That was the greatest secret of the Northern Wilderness Forest.

It only appeared once every thousand years.

Each time it appeared, it would stir a storm of blood and gore.

But every time, a peerless legacy was also certain to emerge.

It was said that the first patriarch of the Pure Yang Sword Sect had entered it seven thousand years ago, which was how he established the sect’s millennia-long prestige.

A prestige that had lasted through the ages.

Who wouldn’t be tempted by such a prize?

”Of course it’s true. With my status, would I deceive you?”

Xuan Shangqing said with a haughty look.

Inwardly, however, he was sneering.

’The Northern Wilderness Sword Mansion.’

’It’s true that it’s opening.’

’And I’ll even let all of them go in.’

’But what will be the result?’

’I’m afraid no one here could possibly imagine.’

”Since Sect Leader Xuan has said so, we naturally believe you. However, I’ve heard that to open the Northern Wilderness Sword Mansion, one needs to gather nine Sword Orders. I wonder if Sect Leader Xuan might be able to give us one?”

Bing Qingying spoke again.

Xuan Shangqing shot her a displeased glance, but Zhang Baxian and Xiao Bufan were also looking at him expectantly.

They clearly had the same thought.

In fact, Xingtian Qi felt the same way.

’Hmph. A bunch of opportunists who won’t act without a guaranteed reward. But I’ll have to give these things to them sooner or later anyway. Might as well be now.’

Xuan Shangqing sneered to himself.

Yet, four tokens that looked like a cross between gold and wood appeared in his hand. The tokens were simple and unadorned, bearing only a single word: Sword.

But the sight of them made the eyes of Bing Qingying and the other three light up.

The Sword Order.

This was the Northern Wilderness Sword Order!

To possess one was to have a chance to enter the Northern Wilderness Sword Mansion.

”Don’t celebrate too soon. The Northern Wilderness Sword Mansion only allows those under thirty to enter. None of you are qualified. Alright, take one each. However, my Sect only possesses eight of them. The final one is in that old bastard’s hands. If he isn’t killed, none of you will get in.”

Xuan Shangqing said coolly.

The leaders of the four sects all nodded in silence.

The Pure Yang Sword Sect.

This time, it was doomed to be destroyed.

They had allied together for the express purpose of gaining an advantage in this affair.

Now, the greatest prize was within their grasp.

How could they not be ecstatic?

As for Yang Xiao?

He was an insignificant little thing. Even if he was strong, what of it?

Especially since Xuan Shangqing had already promised to dispatch a High-Tier Martial Saint.

They were naturally relieved.

At the same time, they were also inwardly shocked.

One had to remember, that was a High-Tier Martial Saint.

With the exception of the Ice Profound Sect, none of the other three sects had ever produced a Martial Saint of such a caliber.

Yet just to deal with one Yang Xiao...

...the Profound Celestial Sect could send one out.

If they truly wanted to annihilate them...

A chill ran through their hearts.

Their apprehension toward the Profound Celestial Sect deepened.

For the moment, however, they all felt the Profound Celestial Sect wouldn’t turn on them.

Otherwise, they wouldn’t have gone to such lengths to win their favor.

They had even given them the Sword Orders for the Northern Wilderness Sword Mansion. Surely, the Profound Celestial Sect had room for them in their plans.

”These old foxes are as cunning as demons. A pity that in the face of absolute power, they will all meet the same end: death!”

After the leaders of the Four Great Sects had departed, a crisp voice rang out.

It was a man dressed in green robes.

He carried himself with an extraordinary air.

He had a longsword on his back, an arrogant expression, and an even more formidable aura.

If Yang Xiao had been there, he would have immediately recognized this man as the one he had hated for so long, the person he most wanted to kill on this trip to the Northern Wilderness Forest.

Xuan Tianzhan!

”Zhan’Er, do not underestimate them. And remember, I am entrusting the entire matter of the Northern Wilderness Sword Mansion to you. You must do a good job.”

”Yes, Father.”

Xuan Tianzhan lowered his head.

Xuan Shangqing nodded slightly, his gaze piercing the distance.

”This time, we can only succeed. Failure is not an option. If we succeed, we will have earned an immense merit. When that time comes, the Immortal Lord will surely accept you as his disciple and bestow upon you the true Longevity Immortal Dao!”

As Xuan Shangqing spoke, his voice held a slight tremor of excitement.

As was Xuan Tianzhan.

He longed for that day to arrive.

Not long after, Xuan Shangqing issued a command. From the Profound Celestial Sect’s residence, a figure instantly left a sealed cultivation chamber and vanished in a flash.

Their destination: the Purple Sun Sect.
