I Return From Hell

Chapter 47: Chapter 45: Conclusion and Resources

Under the flashlight’s beam, Xia Yu searched carefully for sunflower seeds. She even deliberately combed through the ground, meticulously searching inch by inch around the glass greenhouse.

She managed to collect a great number of them.

She had no way to directly identify which of the sunflower seeds was the Spiritual Plant, so she could only gather all of them.

It was worth noting that she had made a point to search for sunflower seeds near the sunflower that ”grew” Nie Qianqian’s face.

Based on the principle that the stronger the parent, the more likely the offspring is to produce a Spiritual Plant, this particular sunflower had the highest chance.

Time passed, bit by bit.

With the help of the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power, everyone’s stamina recovered quickly and their injuries healed at a rapid pace. More importantly, their physical conditioning improved across the board.

Their eyesight, for example.

It had gotten better.

This allowed them to search for the sunflower seeds more effectively.

Soon, the group had searched the entire glass greenhouse and its surroundings. Still not satisfied, Xie Shaokun ordered everyone to check carefully three more times. They found a few more sunflower seeds, but when they truly couldn’t find any more, they finally stopped.

What no one noticed was that one sunflower seed had happened to fall into the nostril of a nearby Mutant, escaping everyone’s search.

The mist began to dissipate, little by little.

Xia Yu’s heart relaxed slightly. ’The orchard Mist Event is finally ending.’

This Mist Event was full of unexpected turns. Even though she had run through a simulation beforehand, some things still went beyond her predictions.

’Luckily, it ended perfectly.’

’No, that’s not right.’

’I still don’t know if I’ve gotten the Spiritual Plant. I collected a lot of sunflower seeds, but who knows if I missed one?’

”Phew.”

”It’s over.”

Xie Shaokun also noticed that the sensation of his body tearing and reforming had stopped. He let out a heavy sigh of relief and said, ”You two, we’ll meet again.”

With that, he took Blood Butterfly, the gun, the sunflower seeds, and the Crystal Cores and left without a backward glance.

Once Xie Shaokun was completely gone, Wang Quanzhi finally sat on the ground, completely relieved. First, he took out his phone to call the police, then he looked at Xia Yu and asked, ”Miss, shall we wait together?”

”Alright.”

”My name is Wang Quanzhi. And you are, miss?”

”Xia Yu.”

”We’re practically friends who’ve been through life and death together now. Miss, did you know who that guy was? He’s a wanted criminal! Why else do you think he had a gun?”

”Oh my god, a wanted criminal? You sure know a lot.”

...

The two chatted idly.

Wang Quanzhi kept an eye on the situation at the orchard while trying to find topics of conversation to get closer to Xia Yu.

He felt like he was in control of everything.

In reality, under Xia Yu’s subtle guidance, he revealed a lot of information.

The most useful of which was...

”Let me show you something cool.”

He glanced around, then secretively opened his palm.

Sunflower seeds!

Three of them!!

Xia Yu’s pupils constricted slightly. ’This guy actually hid some?’

She couldn’t be sure if the Spiritual Plant was among these three sunflower seeds, so to be safe, she had to get them.

Her gaze turned cold as she thought, ’Should I just knock Wang Quanzhi out?’

One of her plans for this Mist Event was to use Wang Quanzhi to tell Zhao Guohui that Xie Shaokun was the problem, not her, Xia Yu.

To get Zhao Guohui to stop watching her completely.

And to get Wang Quanzhi to stop following her.

She had done a good job of it right up until the end of the Mist Event.

’Is it all going to fall apart at the last minute?’

”Let me tell you.”

Wang Quanzhi quickly put them away and said, ”Xie Shaokun must know a lot about the Mist Event. There has to be a reason he’s so obsessed with these sunflower seeds.”

”Saying he just ’likes to eat them’ is a bullshit reason. I don’t buy it for a second.”

He had no idea that the harmless-looking pretty girl in front of him was actually the most dangerous one. He was still showing off, ”I’ll give these to the police later. Tsk tsk... that’s bound to be a huge contribution.”

In the end, Xia Yu decided not to make a move.

The cost was too high.

While playing along with Wang Quanzhi, she reached for the phone in her pocket, operating it by touch from memory.

「A dozen or so minutes later.」

A car sped toward them from the distance, its dazzling headlights making it impossible to see.

The screech of brakes echoed through the air.

A familiar figure strode forward.

”Xie Shaokun!”

Wang Quanzhi’s expression changed, and he hurriedly hid the sunflower seeds.

Xia Yu feigned terror. ”The wanted criminal is here! What do we do? Why did he come back?”

Xie Shaokun wasn’t stupid enough to immediately try and snatch the sunflower seeds from Wang Quanzhi. That would only expose the fact that something was up with Xia Yu.

”I forgot something.”

He said, ”You two didn’t hide any sunflower seeds, did you?”

Xia Yu glanced at Wang Quanzhi and quickly waved her hands, saying, ”No, absolutely not.”

Wang Quanzhi’s heart pounded in panic as he vehemently denied it.

”Cut the crap.”

”Stand still. Let me search you,” Xie Shaokun said coldly, pulling out his gun.

’The police will be here soon,’ he thought. ’If I wait any longer, I probably won’t be able to get away. I have to hurry.’

”You...”

Wang Quanzhi started to say something, but Xie Shaokun pressed the gun directly to his forehead.

How could he dare say another word?

Soon.

THUD.

After finding the sunflower seeds, Xie Shaokun kicked Wang Quanzhi to the ground. ”Lucky I figured it out on the way,” he cursed. ”Otherwise, you little punk would’ve actually gotten away with it.”

”Damn it, don’t let me see you again. If I do, I’ll beat you up every single time.”

He knew how long Yu had painstakingly planned this and how hard she had worked on her act. It would be too damn frustrating if Wang Quanzhi ended up reaping all the rewards.

Wang Quanzhi didn’t dare say a word or even fart, terrified of provoking the man and getting shot.

”Your turn.”

Xie Shaokun looked at Xia Yu.

”You...”

Seeing this, Wang Quanzhi couldn’t just let Xie Shaokun touch Xia Yu. He mustered his courage and said, ”Xie Shaokun, you call yourself a man? Is it really okay to go feeling up a girl like that?”

THUD.

Xie Shaokun kicked him again, cursing, ”You animal who thinks with his dick! I saw you had a thing for her a long time ago. You think everyone’s like you, still in the mood to chase girls at a time like this?”

With that, he looked at Xia Yu. ”I won’t bully you. Get in the car and take off all your clothes.”

”Hurry up!”

’Thank god you gave me an out,’ he was actually thinking. ’Otherwise, I wouldn’t have dared to touch Yu. I’d risk getting my hands chopped off.’

Soon.

”Okay.”

From inside the car, Xia Yu threw her clothes out one by one, her voice weak. She even sneezed.

”Hmph.”

”And your underwear, your under...”

Xie Shaokun began, but he swallowed the rest of the word when he felt Xia Yu’s icy glare.

He checked everything and, confirming there were no sunflower seeds, handed the clothes back to Xia Yu.

「A moment later.」

Xie Shaokun left once again.

Wang Quanzhi walked over to Xia Yu’s side and said, ”Xia Yu, let me see your phone.”

Xia Yu’s heart skipped a beat.
