I Return From Hell

Chapter 5: Chapter 3: Slaughter Feast (Part 2)

Seeing this, Ye Qing was so terrified she was about to scream...

”You’d better shut up.”

Xia Yu’s voice was ice-cold, devoid of any emotion. ”Otherwise, if you attract those monsters, you and your cousin will both die.”

Hearing this, Ye Qing quickly clamped her hands over her mouth.

”BLECH.”

But when she saw the gory scene of Xiao’ai and her best friend’s internal organs splattered all over the ground, she couldn’t stop herself from wanting to vomit.

She quickly dropped the utility knife and pressed both hands over her mouth, terrified of making a sound that would attract the monsters. At the same time, she averted her gaze, not daring to look again.

Another ten-odd seconds passed.

”Help, help... save me...”

The cries for help from outside the bus grew fainter and fainter, until there was only silence.

”Double Fish Pavilion, right hand feeling the pulse...”

Xia Yu muttered something under her breath, and her absorption of the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power suddenly accelerated.

This was the Ancient Guiding Skill she had stumbled upon in her previous life. It was thanks to this skill that her power had soared, raising her from the lower-middle ranks of Spiritual Transformers to the Upper Level, allowing her to grow strong rapidly.

At this moment, every part of her body was tearing apart and healing, then tearing apart and healing again in a rapid, repeating cycle. The pain assaulted her nervous system, but her consciousness remained perfectly clear, her expression not even changing.

In her previous life, when she first came into contact with Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power, her body had almost failed to withstand its scouring force, nearly turning her into a Mutant.

In this life, the environment she was in had relatively thin Spiritual Energy, so the transformation of her body wasn’t as violent. Furthermore, her willpower was far more resilient than in her previous life.

Therefore, even without the boost from the Ancient Guiding Skill, she wouldn’t have become a Mutant. Instead, her body’s overall constitution was improving at an extremely fast rate.

The most obvious effect was that the energy she had just expended was completely restored within three seconds.

The battle to come was bound to be brutal. Every bit of strength she gained increased her odds of winning, and she wouldn’t waste a single second.

「Two minutes later.」

The two Mutants finished their meal. Their bellies were bloated, as if about to burst. A faint sheen appeared on their withered faces, and the barest hint of flesh seemed to regenerate. They twitched their noses, sniffing the air as they began to search for new prey.

As time passed, their bellies rapidly shrank, the sheen vanished, and the new flesh disappeared. Their movements, however, became even more agile.

Eating helped improve their strength!

「Three minutes later.」

”AHH!”

”BANG! BANG!”

...

The sounds of a fight and the screams of the muscular man echoed from within the fog.

「Five minutes later.」

The two Mutants appeared again.

”Those monsters are getting closer. They... I think they’ve found us,” the pink-haired girl said, her voice low.

Ye Qing cautiously peeked out the window, only to shrink back in fear.

While continuing to absorb the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Power, Xia Yu spoke. ”If you don’t want to die, find a Weapon and prepare to fight.”

She didn’t even glance out the window.

Mutants had many ways of tracking humans, the most common being their sense of smell. Their olfactory senses were extremely acute, allowing them to sniff out the source of a human scent within a certain range and quickly pinpoint their location.

Although she had closed the windows and doors immediately, the bus was not very airtight. The fact that it had delayed them for about five minutes had already exceeded her expectations.

The words had barely left her mouth when the two Mutants, having confirmed the presence of a delicious meal inside the bus, broke into a sprint. When they were still more than ten meters away, they leaped high into the air, their feet clearing the ground by nearly two meters, and slammed violently into the side of the bus.

”BANG.”

The entire bus shuddered and even tilted slightly.

The force of the impact was immense.

Two large dents appeared. One more hit, and they would definitely break through!

”AHH!”

Ye Qing shrieked in terror.

The pregnant woman who had been unconscious woke up. The pain in her abdomen had intensified; she clutched her stomach, curled up in a corner, her whole body twitching as if she were ill.

Xia Yu glanced at the pregnant woman before turning her gaze back to the two Mutants outside the bus.

She had no time to worry about whether the others lived or died, nor did she expect any of them to help her. In her eyes, these people served only one purpose: to distract the Mutants so she wouldn’t be surrounded.

”Find a Weapon.”

”Hurry!”

Xia Yu reminded them again.

Unfortunately...

...no one listened.

No.

At some point, Ye Qing had picked up the utility knife again and was gripping it tightly.

But right now, she was actually trying to help the pregnant woman.

She was clearly no help at all.

’I still have to rely on myself.’

Xia Yu said nothing. Everyone makes their own choices, and they must all be responsible for them.

She quickly retracted her gaze, glanced at the spots where the two Mutants had struck, and adjusted her stance. Her body was slightly arched and her legs were bent, poised like a cheetah lying in wait inside the bus.

”BANG.”

”BANG.”

The next moment, the two Mutants smashed through the bus’s skin, landing at the front and back of the vehicle respectively.

Xia Yu’s position was clever; she was just one step away from one of the Mutants—the one that had been a beanpole of an old woman.

And what’s more, the former old woman was sideways to her!

’This is the chance I was waiting for!’

Before her opponent could get its bearings, Xia Yu lunged, gripping the safety hammer with both hands and bringing it down hard.

”CRACK.”

Her strike landed true, hitting its head as she’d hoped. But her own strength was still too weak, making her swing a bit slow. The creature ducked at the last second, avoiding a fatal blow.

The safety hammer only managed to strike the back of its head.

It wasn’t a killing blow.

And because the safety hammer wasn’t heavy enough, the injury it inflicted on the former old woman wasn’t severe.

’As tough as I expected.’

Xia Yu wasn’t surprised. Her right foot was already prepared, and she kicked out, striking her opponent’s right shoulder.

While keeping a firm grip on the hammer, she put her full force into the motion.

Using the powerful opposing force, the safety hammer was brutally *ripped* out—not pulled!

This inflicted a second wound to the back of the former old woman’s head.

Immediately after, Xia Yu leaped backward.

She landed steadily on her feet.

”ROAR.”

The former old woman became frenzied, spinning around and lunging at her.

But with two injuries to the back of its head, its balance was severely affected, reducing its threat level by thirty percent.

’Thirty percent? That’s more than enough.’

Xia Yu took a deep breath, pushed off with her feet, and shot forward like a cheetah...
