I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 84: Chapter 83: Viewing Boats at the Shipyard

...

Gu Nan finally realized that An Jun had taken all of his stuff to the shop.

ACHOO~

He let out a sudden sneeze as a wave of goosebumps broke out over his skin.

Gu Nan knew if he didn’t warm up, he’d definitely have a cold by tomorrow. He pulled out his phone and searched online, but he couldn’t find any red ginger tea. In the end, he just ordered some cold and flu powder.

He didn’t have any bowls at home, but his cups and kettle were still there, so he started by boiling some water.

Normally, getting a little drenched wouldn’t be an issue. With his constitution, Gu Nan wasn’t worried about catching a cold.

It wasn’t the first time he’d been rained on while fishing. But today’s stalemate with the boss fish had dragged on for so long that he’d been sweating profusely before the rain soaked him. He had to be careful now that the chill had seeped into his bones.

Gu Nan then found a dry rag and wiped down his livewell and tackle box, mopping up the wet floor as well.

As for the fishing rod, he stored it directly in his game inventory. ’Can’t have it bringing rainwater in there!’

Twenty minutes later, the delivery guy arrived with the cold and flu powder. Gu Nan mixed two packets and drank them. He immediately felt a warmth spreading through him from the inside out.

He then turned on the AC, lay down comfortably on his bed, and began reading the information on the newly unlocked fish species.

The Gray Emperor. In some southern domestic markets, it’s also called a ”pointed-head,” but several different species of the same family go by that name.

This species can also be found domestically, in the southern seas. However, the one from the game was sourced from the Malaysian archipelago.

’It’s also found in places like East Africa, but maybe Malaysia is just closer.’

The Gray Emperor can reach a maximum length of sixty-five centimeters, but most, like black sea bream, are on the smaller side.

Gu Nan’s catch was exactly thirty-three centimeters long, classifying it as ”Large.”

Its flavor was rated four and a half stars, which was already excellent. The description noted it as a delicious fish with tender flesh, suitable for all sorts of preparations, with a suggested price of sixty yuan.

This fish showed Gu Nan that ”elite” species were the ones that truly commanded import-level prices.

In fact, sixty yuan per half-kilo for a live fish was quite cheap. Black sea bream was already selling for fifty!

He collected the Gold Coin reward from the index, bringing his total savings to 3,600. Then, Gu Nan arranged for the Indian Marlin to be shipped via the game before finally closing his eyes and drifting into a deep sleep.

He decided not to ship the Tai Star Garoupa for now, since the few at the shop hadn’t sold yet.

Besides, for species where he only had one or two, he planned to accumulate a larger quantity before shipping them all at once. It would seem more plausible and save on shipping costs.

The next morning, Gu Nan woke up a little after 7:00 a.m.

He got up and stretched. He felt mentally refreshed, but his body was a little sore and tired. Clearly, the aftereffects of the previous day hadn’t faded.

But Gu Nan had no plans to get a massage. He had too much to do today.

He got up and washed, then took the fishing rod out of his game inventory. After carrying the tackle box and livewell out to his three-wheeler, he set off for the shop.

At the shop, Yi Chen was already busy. Gu Nan didn’t interrupt him, just asking, ”Yi Chen, anything you feel like eating today? I’m going to grab breakfast and stop by the wet market to buy some groceries.”

”Get some yellow chives and eggs. I was thinking of making scrambled eggs with yellow chives for lunch. You can decide on the rest, boss.”

”Okay.”

After putting away his tackle box and fishing rod, Gu Nan went back to the front of the shop. Seeing the Star Chicken Fish in the tank by the entrance, he suddenly remembered something.

”By the way, Yi Chen, I don’t think I delivered any fish to the food stall owner yesterday. Did he not sell out his previous stock?”

”Oh, about that! The owner came by with his three-wheeler yesterday around noon to pick up his order. He said he’ll just come get it himself from now on whenever he’s free.”

”Alright, that’s even better.”

Having learned this, Gu Nan rode his three-wheeler away from the seafood market.

He first stopped at the wet market to buy groceries for lunch and dinner, then headed to a breakfast stall to grab a bite.

Back at the shop, he dropped off the groceries and took the opportunity to film Yi Chen for their morning fish-selling video.

’The short videos introducing the different fish species can be filmed later,’ he thought. ’That’s not a problem.’

Once that was done, it was 9:00 a.m. Gu Nan set off on his electric scooter to go sign up for his boat license exam.

You could get a boat license by going directly to the Maritime Safety Administration, and they would help arrange a school. Of course, you could also go to a qualified school or training center.

The one Wang Junhe had recommended was a training center, or rather, a yacht club.

Wang Junhe was a member there. So when Gu Nan went in to sign up and mentioned who had referred him, the receptionist’s attitude seemed to improve.

The receptionist was very upfront, explaining that they could fast-track the license. Gu Nan could have it in hand within a week of passing all the tests.

If he went through the normal process at the Maritime Safety Administration, he’d have to wait a whole month after passing everything.

Furthermore, once he passed the written exam at the club, he could come in to practice the hands-on portion whenever he liked.

The club’s record for the fastest license acquisition was ten days, with the average being around fifteen.

The fee, however, was exceptionally high: twenty thousand yuan.

Fortunately, since a member had referred him, he received a discount, bringing the price down to just fifteen thousand.

The clientele here was either rich or powerful, so it was no surprise the price was steep. Who among them would care about such a small fee for a license?

A normal boat license exam only cost a few thousand yuan.

Gu Nan opted for the Third-Class Operator’s Certificate, which was applicable for fishing vessels or specialized fishing boats between twelve and twenty-four meters in length.

As for how far out to sea he could take a boat, that depended on the operational range certification the vessel itself could obtain.

For example, a small twelve-meter boat would generally be restricted to near-shore waters and could only get a Class Three certificate, meaning it couldn’t venture more than twenty nautical miles from the coast.
