I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Configuring an Editing Computer

Red Fork-tailed Sea Bream. Primarily found in the Indo-Pacific region, with populations in areas like East Africa.

It can grow up to 110 centimeters and lives in waters between one hundred and three hundred meters deep, classifying it as a deep-sea fish.

Seeing that it was a deep-sea fish, Gu Nan finally understood why it could only be kept in the chilled display.

Red Fork-tailed Sea Bream can potentially accumulate ciguatoxins. When caught and eaten normally, consumption of its internal organs should be avoided.

(Note: The safety and quality of aquatic products from the game are guaranteed and can be consumed without worry.)

Gu Nan was initially startled to see it could carry ciguatoxins, but he let out a sigh of relief when he saw the note that followed.

It seemed that all seafood from the game could be bought and sold without worry; there was no need to be concerned about ciguatoxins.

The fish’s flavor was rated only four stars, which was expected. After all, it was just a one-star fish.

Suitable for pan-frying, deep-frying, and soup. Suggested price: sixty yuan.

The price took Gu Nan by surprise. A one-star fish was selling for sixty yuan per jin, ten yuan more expensive than a two-star fish from the regular guide.

’As expected of a fish from an elite spawn. Being expensive is a good thing!’

After unlocking all sorts of high-end seafood in the guide, his shop was destined to take a mid-to-high-end route. Fish like the Star Chicken Fish would eventually be phased out.

’Perhaps in the future, these kinds of fish will just accumulate in the aquarium, and I’ll hand over the selling rights to someone else.’

’Speaking of which, where did Ji Jinxin go? I feel like I haven’t seen him in ages.’

Having finished reading the guide, Gu Nan was more or less rested. He packed up his things and returned to the seafood shop.

The tanks were still quite well-stocked, so most didn’t need replenishing.

So, he put the pomfrets, Ugly Country fish, and Sea Bass he had caught that night into the tanks.

He restocked the Blue-striped Gidai and Yellowfin Gidai, adding five of each, weighing between one to two jin.

He took out two more Black-striped Small Stripes Buri and laid them on a bed of crushed ice.

He did one last round and, seeing nothing else that needed to be restocked, finally closed up shop and went home.

「The next day」

He woke up, washed up, and went downstairs.

As he drove his three-wheeler down a small road, he caught the fragrant aroma of zongzi. ’The Dragon Boat Festival is almost here!’

The thought of the festival gave Gu Nan a bit of a headache.

He would definitely have to go home to celebrate after the morning rush on Dragon Boat Festival, and he’d probably get pestered by his mom about getting married again.

’I wonder if the condition I brought up last time had any effect. Mom hasn’t sent any messages about it, so maybe this trip back home will be a little easier.’

In the morning, Gu Nan bought two zongzi with savory egg yolk and meat. When it came to zongzi, he wasn’t a fan of the sweet kind, preferring only the salted egg yolk and meat variety.

”Boss, morning!” Yi Chen, who was mopping the floor, broke into a smile when she saw him.

Gu Nan’s spirits shot up.

Having a pure and beautiful young woman smile at you every day when you walk in the door would make anyone’s day brighter.

’No wonder rich men like to keep canaries. Being around beautiful things all day really cultivates one’s spirit!’

”Have you eaten yet? I bought some zongzi. Want one?” It was another pleasant day, so Gu Nan decided to reward her with a zongzi.

”No, thank you. I already ate,” Yi Chen said, shaking her head. If she hadn’t, she wouldn’t have been so polite about declining.

”Boss, are we going to start filming today?”

Hearing this, Gu Nan thought of the large Star Chicken Fish and Red Fork-tailed Sea Bream he’d caught last night. Both fish were quite big, around seventy or eighty centimeters long. They seemed perfect for their first video on the short-video platform.

As for the videos for the main streaming site, they could just film live when customers came in.

They had decided on this yesterday. Videos of them actually selling fish would look the most natural and wouldn’t require any script.

The short-form videos, on the other hand, would mainly be used to introduce the various types of fish in the shop.

Even at a rate of one video per day, they had enough fish in the shop to feature for a whole month.

He could intersperse those with videos of the big fish he caught, which would make it easy to maintain a consistent upload schedule.

”Yeah, we’ll start filming today. I’m going to eat breakfast first, so you can get ready. We’ll wait a bit for the short-form video. I have two big fish being delivered today, and we can film them when they arrive, as long as we’re not too busy.”

Yi Chen was a little surprised. She hadn’t expected Gu Nan to not be picking up the delivery himself today.

As six-thirty rolled around, foot traffic in the market picked up, and the shop got busy.

Gu Nan stepped out and bought a selfie stick. Without it, filming with just a phone would lead to shaky footage.

When he got back to the shop, he started filming Yi Chen.

He was mainly filming her selling fish from an observer’s perspective, so they didn’t need a wireless lavalier mic. They would need one for the short-form videos, though.

The shoot was quite long, over half an hour, but the final edited video would probably be around five minutes.

Soon, Gu Nan had captured the entire process: greeting a customer, introducing the fish, making a sale, and packaging the order.

For now, he saved the footage to his phone. Later, he would need to buy a computer powerful enough for editing.

Although phone footage didn’t demand high-end computer specs, he figured he’d be upgrading his camera equipment soon enough. He might as well have An Jun put together a PC for him that could handle 4K video editing from the get-go.

Gu Nan knew the basics about computers, but An Jun, being a video creator himself, had a much deeper understanding.

That meant he could have a custom-built PC, which would save him a good bit of money.

Time trickled by until ten in the morning, when An Jun finally rolled out of bed and showed up at the shop.

”Let’s go. We’ll head to the electronics market now to spec out your PC. After we buy the parts, we can grab lunch, and I’ll help you assemble it this afternoon.”

”Do you have the specs figured out?” Gu Nan asked.

”For the CPU, an i7-13700K. The graphics card should be at least a 3060, but a 3080 Ti would be ideal. You’ll want at least a 1TB solid-state drive and 32GB of RAM or more. The power supply and all that don’t need to be top-tier, just something that gets the job done. Anyway, let’s go take a look. Your budget of ten thousand yuan is more than enough.”

Gu Nan nodded. He knew that ordering the parts online would probably be cheaper—the whole build would likely cost at least five hundred yuan less than buying from the electronics market.

And that was with them already knowing the going rates for all the components.

But today, they were going to the computer store owned by Zhang Mingfei, the boss of Jixian. He would surely give them a discount.

You’re more likely to get ripped off buying this stuff from a casual acquaintance. It’s easier to get a good deal from someone you have an existing business relationship with.

An Jun had driven over today, so the two of them headed directly for downtown Bazhou City.

”Ah Nan, so how are things progressing with Yi Chen?”

On the road, An Jun felt a bit bored while driving and suddenly remembered his mom calling him the previous night, telling him to find a nice young woman to set Gu Nan up with.

But it wasn’t like he had a pool of suitable candidates to draw from. The ones he knew were all in his ”fish pond,” which made them unsuitable.

Besides, Gu Nan already had a young, beautiful woman right there in his shop. Why would he need an introduction from him?

”What progress?” Gu Nan, caught off guard by the question, didn’t know how to react for a moment.

”What else? You two have been together for this long and there’s not even a hint of romance? I’m not even talking about being boyfriend and girlfriend.” Seeing Gu Nan’s reaction, An Jun instantly figured out the state of their relationship, a look of disbelief on his face.

’If it were me,’ he thought, ’I’m not saying we’d have hit a home run, but we would’ve at least made things official by now.’

It finally clicked for Gu Nan, and he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ”What are you talking about? I don’t have time for a relationship right now. Besides, I don’t get that vibe from Yi Chen at all. Don’t be ridiculous!”

”Then why did you tell your mom you wanted someone young, with a good figure, and who’s pretty?” An Jun blurted out.

”...” Gu Nan fell silent for a moment, a hint of resignation in his voice. ”Don’t tell me my mom went to your mom to get her to help find me a blind date.”
