I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 41: Chapter 41: A Hot Mom Bringing Her Son to Buy Fish

”Isn’t it the weekend?” Gu Nan asked, a little confused when she mentioned picking up her son. He had assumed she meant from school.

”No, I signed my son up for some extracurricular classes.”

Gu Nan understood. No wonder she had to pick him up on a Sunday.

’A single mother working in the massage industry... this therapist must be divorced.’

Sure enough, when he asked about it later, she confirmed she was indeed divorced. She had been for several years, and her son was already five.

Pan Yourong didn’t want her son to become a ”left-behind child,” worrying it would hinder his development. So, instead of leaving him with her parents back home, she kept him by her side.

As for why she was in the massage industry, it was simply because raising a child was expensive, and the pay was good.

With a son by her side, even if Pan Yourong wanted to remarry, no one was willing to take her on.

The world had fewer and fewer mindless simps these days; most people had just checked out.

So the men who approached her just wanted to get in her pants; they had absolutely no intention of marrying her.

But don’t let Pan Yourong’s alluring looks and figure fool you; she wasn’t the type to sleep around.

As a top-tier therapist, one specially recruited by Feiyun Pavilion, her monthly salary plus commission could exceed thirty thousand, sometimes even hitting fifty thousand. She really wouldn’t give an ordinary man a second look.

’Stuck in the middle, and with a son besides... it’d be a miracle if she ever got married.’

Hearing how high her salary was, Gu Nan was startled and asked, ”So, how much was this foot bath again?”

Pan Yourong sounded a little surprised. ”You don’t know? This is the ’Supermodel Foot Bath.’ The price is 399. Of course, if you have a member card, you get a discount.”

”Uh, I didn’t ask. I just had my old classmate recommend someone with good technique.” Gu Nan hadn’t expected the foot bath here to be even more expensive than the head therapy.

’With such a high price per session, no wonder her commission can reach thirty to fifty thousand a month.’

But there must be cheaper foot bath options, otherwise the quality of the therapists couldn’t be this high. He felt like he’d taken advantage of An Jun’s generosity again.

’Whatever. I’ll just use up the balance on his card and then top it up myself next time. Then he won’t think I can’t even afford ten thousand yuan.’

Besides, he had never been the type to only earn money without being willing to spend it. You could tell from his rented apartment that he had certain standards for his quality of life.

The hundred-minute foot bath ended before he knew it, and it was already almost four o’clock.

Gu Nan went out to the lobby. After hearing from Qiaoya that An Jun had added another two hours to his session, he decided to leave Feiyun Pavilion and head back to the seafood shop.

When he arrived at the shop, the door was open, and Yi Chen was already inside.

She was lounging on a reclining chair, watching a show on her phone. When she noticed someone enter and saw it was Gu Nan, she quickly stood up. ”Boss, you’re back!”

Seeing her seem a little tense, Gu Nan gave her a gentle nod, not minding that she had been watching a show.

’New employees are all like this, getting uncomfortable when the boss catches them slacking off. After a while, they become seasoned veterans. Then, she’ll probably just glance at me and give a lazy greeting.’

When Yi Chen saw he didn’t mind, her nervous heart began to settle down.

Still, she no longer felt like continuing her show.

Turning off her phone, she remembered how she had struggled with packing the live fish that morning, with Gu Nan having to help her multiple times. She said, ”Boss, could you show me how to pack the live fish again? I feel like I still don’t quite have it down.”

She had been too busy to learn properly earlier, so now was the perfect time to practice.

”Okay.” Gu Nan, who had just sat down behind the counter, immediately stood back up. This was directly related to whether he could leave the shop to go fishing, so of course he had to take it seriously.

Packing wasn’t a difficult task. He showed her twice in slow motion, and after practicing a few times on her own, Yi Chen got the hang of it. She just wasn’t as practiced as he was.

Time slowly ticked by to four-thirty. Normally, customers would be trickling into the seafood market by now, but today it was quiet.

Gu Nan wasn’t surprised. It had been like this on previous weekend evenings. Business yesterday evening hadn’t been great either; he had only boosted his sales figures by personally contacting customers to sell off the valuable fish.

In the coming days, morning traffic would likely be much slower, while evening traffic would pick up as people got off work.

A little while later, a hot mom in a form-fitting brown dress, holding the hand of a cute little boy, arrived at the seafood shop’s entrance.

She took off her sunglasses, deliberately glanced at the shop sign, then looked inside. A smile spread across her face when she saw Gu Nan, and she walked in.

Seeing a customer had arrived, Yi Chen hurried forward to greet her. However, when she saw the woman’s exaggerated figure beneath the tight, form-fitting dress, her pupils constricted. A ”Whoa” almost escaped her lips, and her eyes drifted to the woman’s long legs.

Yi Chen was only 165cm tall even in sneakers, making her a good half-head shorter than this hot mom in high heels. She was truly envious of her height.

”Hello!” Gu Nan had also seen the newcomer. Realizing it was Pan Yourong, he walked over and greeted her.

She had clearly dressed up to go pick up her child. She wore a platinum necklace and a beautiful ladies’ watch on her wrist.

Her sunglasses were now off, hanging from the collar of her dress between her ample breasts, making one wonder why they looked so white.

Anyone seeing Pan Yourong right now would assume she was the wife of a wealthy man; who would have guessed she was actually a therapist in the massage industry?

”I’m here to buy some fish. Do you have any recommendations for something suitable for a child?” Pan Yourong asked Gu Nan with a smile.

Yi Chen, standing to the side, had a moment of realization. ’So they know each other.’ She had found it a bit strange when Gu Nan proactively went to greet her.

”For a child, this Blue-striped Gidai is a good choice. The meat is fresh and tender. It’s good Steamed or sliced for hot pot.”

”This Black-striped Small Stripes Buri is also good. It’s suitable for deep-frying, which kids tend to like.”

Gu Nan knew Pan Yourong’s financial situation and that the fish was for her child, so he directly recommended two types he felt were suitable, rather than suggesting cheaper options.

Pan Yourong looked curiously at the Blue-striped Gidai, thinking its color was quite pretty. She then picked up her son and asked, ”Sweetie, which fish do you want to eat?”

Gu Nan had expected the little boy to find the Blue-striped Gidai pretty and choose that one, but to his surprise, the boy pointed at the Black-striped Small Stripes Buri and said in a tiny, sweet voice, ”Mommy, I want the fried one.”

Seeing her son wanted that one, Pan Yourong asked, ”How much is this fish?”

”Fifty a jin for the whole fish, sixty a jin if you want it cut into pieces.”

Pan Yourong nodded and pointed to a Black-striped Small Stripes Buri that was about four or five jin. ”I’ll take this whole one, then!”

Gu Nan was stunned. ”Can you finish a fish that big?”

”Sometimes when I’m busy and don’t have time to look after my son, the girls at the shop help out. Since I’m buying some anyway, I might as well get a little extra so everyone can have a taste,” Pan Yourong explained with a smile.

Gu Nan understood. He then instructed Yi Chen, who was standing nearby, ”Yi Chen, go ahead and pack this up.”

”Mhm...” Yi Chen had already put on gloves. After weighing the fish, she got a bag, placed the fish inside, then shoveled in some ice and packed it up.

After choosing the Black-striped Small Stripes Buri, Pan Yourong’s gaze fell on the especially large African Pompano next to it. ”What kind of fish is this?” she asked curiously.

”That’s an African Pompano, a fish from the Indian Ocean. It’s similar to a pomfret.”

”Oh, so it’s from over there. No wonder it looks so strange.” Pan Yourong wasn’t very interested in the fish; she had only asked because it was rather large.

Instead, her gaze returned to the Blue-striped Gidai. She wasn’t particularly interested in fried fish, but hearing that this one’s meat was fresh and tender, she was quite keen to try it. So, she asked for one of those as well.

”Boss, the Black-striped Small Stripes Buri is 4.7 jin, and the Blue-striped Gidai is 1.8 jin.”

Gu Nan went to the counter and credited the sale to Yi Chen’s performance record.

’If you want the horse to run, you have to feed it. Giving it some extra treats will make it run even faster.’

He was planning to hand over all customer reception duties to Yi Chen, so there was no need to tarnish her impression of him over such a small amount of money.

One fish was 235, the other 144, for a total of 379. Her commission would be less than twenty yuan anyway.
