I Can Devour Spirits

Ximen Kankan paused for a moment, then suddenly turned and walked towards the place. He had a vague feeling in his heart.

He passed through the dark corridor and saw a firelight not far away. In front of a pile of abandoned weapons, a figure occasionally bent down, intermittently throwing weapons behind.

Ximen Kankan walked over, looking at Duan Rong busying himself there again, his face suddenly turned somewhat unpleasant.

”Can’t you let go of the pile of trash?”

Duan Rong turned his head upon hearing this, seeing Ximen Kankan behind him, looking at him with a peculiar expression.

He could see the worry in Ximen Kankan’s eyes.

Duan Rong immediately understood that his behavior indeed didn’t seem like that of a normal person. No wonder Ximen Kankan would look at him with such eyes.

Duan Rong threw the weapon in his hand behind him, patted Ximen Kankan on the shoulder, and said, ”You don’t need to look at me like that, I’m seriously normal.”

Ximen Kankan glanced at him and said, ”A white horse isn’t a horse, seriously normal means not normal.”

Duan Rong said, ”I’m telling you, I need to stay here for a few days. I know you think it’s strange, but...”

As Duan Rong spoke, he suddenly intensified his tone, his expression becoming serious, devoid of any playful smile.

”First, Kankan, you need to trust me, I definitely have a reason for doing this. Second, I’m definitely not crazy.”

Since Duan Rong was planning to devour for several days here, he had to appease Ximen Kankan.

Ximen Kankan blinked his eyes, stared at Duan Rong for a moment, only to find Duan Rong’s eyes clear and lively, clearly not possessed.

Ximen Kankan finally confirmed one thing, Duan Rong was doing something he couldn’t understand.

”Alright. As long as you’re not possessed, that’s fine. If you want to deal with this junk, go ahead.”

Seeing that Ximen Kankan seemed to have accepted his strange actions, Duan Rong gave him a shoulder pat and continued to bend down to devour the Artifact Spirit.

Seeing that the work time was about to start, Ximen Kankan left Duan Rong and headed towards the blacksmithing cave.

After work, Ximen Kankan took a look inside the cave filled with abandoned weapons, seeing the entire cave pitch-black, not a spark in sight, clearly indicating Duan Rong had already left.

Ximen Kankan returned to his cave, only to find Duan Rong lying on the stone bed, sleeping like the dead.

Standing by the stone bed, Ximen Kankan looked at Duan Rong and muttered, ”Is this guy really okay?”

Although Duan Rong’s spiel had reassured him somewhat that morning, his inner worry hadn’t dissipated. Ximen Kankan sighed and walked out of the cave.

That night, Ximen Kankan specially left a roasted chicken on the stone table in the cave.

In the morning, when he woke up, the roasted chicken was already gone, and Duan Rong was once again inside the cave, playing with those ragged weapons. This time, Ximen Kankan only glanced from afar, not bothering Duan Rong.

And so, five days passed.

Duan Rong acted this way every day, and Ximen Kankan’s worry grew day by day.

Although the wild game he left for Duan Rong each day was eaten by him, after five consecutive days, Duan Rong was now filthy, with disheveled hair, and bloodshot eyes.

Due to the distaste for the smell coming from Duan Rong, Ximen Kankan had started sleeping on the floor as of two days ago.

That day, Ximen Kankan’s three-month training period finally came to an end.

The officer in charge of their group gave him quite a high appraisal, describing him as diligent and clever with numerous ideas.

Ximen Kankan indeed got along well with the others at the Weapon Workshop. Occasionally, he’d crack a joke to lighten the mood and alleviate fatigue.

Out of the training period, Ximen Kankan was quite excited. From now on, he’d be able to organize his time freely, as long as he completed the tasks assigned by the officer each month.

Although his mood was excited initially, as soon as he left the cave, his face turned worried.

He walked to the cave with the abandoned weapons and saw once more a familiar shadow in the firelight bending down occasionally, followed by the clanging sounds of weapons falling behind.

Ximen Kankan sighed, ”This guy...”

Despite his considerable worry, he didn’t disturb Duan Rong and suddenly had an idea with a quick glance of his eye.

An hour later, Ximen Kankan, along with Xiao Yu and Shen Mizi, arrived at the cave.

It turned out Shen Mizi also just finished her three-month training period today.

The Elder Hall had stricter rules, and the nanny in charge of them was very strict. Any minor mistake would result in punishment. During the three-month training period, they were not allowed to leave the mountain where the Elder Hall was located.

Besides, the Elder Hall was a forbidden area of the sect, where registered disciples like Duan Rong couldn’t enter casually. Shen Mizi knew about this situation, so once her training period ended, she immediately went to find Xiao Yu.

When Ximen Kankan went to find Xiao Yu, Shen Mizi had just arrived at Xiao Yu’s a short while earlier. Ximen Kankan’s exaggerated portrayal made Xiao Yu rush over immediately.

Ximen Kankan led Xiao Yu and Shen Mizi and stood not far behind Duan Rong.

Even if it was just a silhouette in the firelight, Xiao Yu recognized Duan Rong at a glance. However, his hair was messy like grass, and his clothes were crumpled.

”There, right there.” Ximen Kankan pointed with his chin towards the silhouette and said.

They saw Duan Rong bending down occasionally, drawing a weapon from the pile of abandoned weapons in front of him, grasping it for just a moment, then tossing it behind.
