I Can Devour Spirits

Pan Yong walked out of the decrepit and queer gate of the Lower Courtyard, holding the slip Qin Old Head gave him.

The slip had Qin Old Head’s signature, stamped with the seal of the Lower Courtyard, and indicated his departure date.

He told Qin Old Head that he would leave the mountain early tomorrow, which is the nineteenth of May.

Pan Yong folded the slip well, placed it in the inner pocket of his coat, stood on the platform of the Lower Courtyard, glanced at the sky over the distant dense forest, and quickly headed to the edge of the cliff.

Pan Yong walked along the cliff wall to a certain iron chain, slid down the cableway, and arrived at the mountain top where the Medicine Pavilion was located.

Pan Yong showed the Sect Cloud Scroll at the gate of the Medicine Pavilion.

The gatekeeper was a thin, dark middle-aged man. He opened the Sect Cloud Scroll, looked at the portrait inside, glanced at Pan Yong, and handed the Sect Cloud Scroll back to him without saying a word.

Pan Yong took the Sect Cloud Scroll and stepped through the gate.

Although he knew he was doing nothing wrong, his heart still felt a bit nervous when someone was checking the Sect Cloud Scroll.

Pan Yong crossed the large square in front of the gate, looked at the silhouette on the Arrow Tower, then lowered his head and quickly walked past, heading straight for the three-story pavilion with gray walls and black tiles.

Pan Yong walked to the curved counter where Xia Honghua was sitting, applying red nail polish.

Pan Yong showed the Sect Cloud Scroll, got a yellow-covered booklet, and was about to leave.

Xia Honghua put down the mouse-hair brush dipped in nail polish, looked at Pan Yong, and asked, ”Let me ask you, what about that boy Duan Rong? He promised to do something for me, but hasn’t shown up for days.”

Pan Yong only glanced at Xia Honghua, didn’t dare say much, and immediately turned to leave.

Xia Honghua saw him ignoring her question and leaving, and felt quite annoyed.

”These kids, not one makes me happy. Where did all these foes come from?”

Pan Yong quickly shuffled through the dazzling array of shelves, and flipped through the yellow-covered booklet.

He already had the Black Blood Fruit, the Auxiliary Medicine for the Fifth Layer of the Fetal Concealment Scripture. Now he wanted to exchange for the Auxiliary Medicines from the Sixth to the Twelfth layer.

About half an hour later, he returned to the curved counter, with a flickering gaze as he held a bag in his hand.

He found the Auxiliary Medicines for the Sixth to Eleventh layers of the Fetal Concealment Scripture, but for the Twelfth layer, Blood Jade Worm Eggs were nowhere to be found throughout the yellow-covered booklet.

Could the Auxiliary Medicine for the Twelfth layer of the Fetal Concealment Scripture be so scarce that even Shang Xiangyu didn’t have the authorization to exchange it?

Shang Xiangyu was an Inner Sect Disciple and also a Pharmacist.

Suddenly, his eyes shifted, realizing another possibility: perhaps it wasn’t that Shang Xiangyu lacked authorization, but that this Blood Jade Worm Egg was too rare and simply wasn’t in stock.

He wanted to ask Xia Honghua about this issue, but held back.

Asking about the Blood Jade Worm Eggs, such a sensitive question — wasn’t it fearing exposure?

Pan Yong placed the bag on the counter.

Xia Honghua was sitting there, glanced at the bag, then raised her hand and admired her newly painted nails in the light.

Seeing Xia Honghua ignoring him, Pan Yong moved the bag closer to her and said, ”If you would please.”

Only then did Xia Honghua glance at him, pouted, ”You do know how to ask nicely, huh? When I asked you earlier why didn’t you answer me? I asked about Duan Rong; is he coming or not?”

”When you go back, tell him that if he doesn’t come tomorrow, he doesn’t need to come anymore!”

”Did you hear me?” Xia Honghua glared at him when he remained silent.

Pan Yong replied, ”Yes, I’ll definitely pass the message to Brother Duan Rong.”

Seeing Pan Yong finally speak, Xia Honghua, though still annoyed, accepted the bag.

With the account settled, Pan Yong took out Shang Xiangyu’s Star Disc.

Xia Honghua received it and deducted over five thousand points.

Pan Yong, Chen Hu, Yin Cong often came here to exchange items for Shang Xiangyu. Although today’s deduction was quite large, since Shang Xiangyu is a Pharmacist and requires various medicines for alchemy, Xia Honghua wasn’t concerned.

Unconcerned, after finishing the deduction, she returned the bag and Star Disc to Pan Yong.

Pan Yong’s hand trembled slightly when he received the bag, but he quickly suppressed it.

Inside were the Auxiliary Medicines for the Sixth to Eleventh layers of the Fetal Concealment Scripture!

He glanced at the Star Disc and saw there were over 500 Contribution Points left on it.

Pan Yong pocketed the Star Disc, tied the bag around his waist, and walked out of the pavilion.

As soon as he stepped out of the pavilion, he let out a long breath at the entrance.

Dealing with Xia Honghua was much harder than with Qin Old Head.

Pan Yong had seen how others interacted with Qin Old Head, so he could perform and wasn’t too worried about making mistakes.

But how Pan Yong usually interacted with Xia Honghua, he had no idea! He didn’t even know how Pan Yong typically addressed Xia Honghua.

So he decided to omit the address just now.

Not knowing how to address her meant speaking less, making fewer mistakes — that’s the principle he’d set before coming.

Fortunately, it seemed he got through safely, as Xia Honghua didn’t seem to notice anything unusual.

Pan Yong walked past the Arrow Tower and arrived at the square. He didn’t go directly through the square to exit the Medicine Pavilion’s gate.

Instead, he turned and walked to a row of low buildings in the corner.

He entered the pill exchange room, using Pan Yong’s Star Disc to exchange for six bottles of Yang Pill.

As he walked out of the pill room, he glanced at the Star Disc again. This time, there were only eight Contribution Points left on it.
