I Can Devour Spirits

Duan Rong paused slightly and said, ”Actually, the furnace only exploded once.”

”What?!” Yang Yi suddenly exclaimed, staring at Duan Rong, ”Then why didn’t you tell the truth when I was investigating the furnace explosion?”

Duan Rong looked at Yang Yi, sneered, and said, ”At that time, Master Shang and Pan Yong were all present. What did you want me to say?!”

Yang Yi wanted to say more, but Yang Sixuan immediately waved to stop him.

Yang Sixuan looked at Duan Rong and asked, ”You just said the furnace only exploded once?”

”That’s right.” Duan Rong looked ahead, as if at someone hidden in a black cloak, and said, ”The furnace only exploded the first time. Shang Xiangyu succeeded the second time.”

”Succeeded the second time?!” The voice from within the cloak was filled with astonishment.

Duan Rong said, ”Shang Xiangyu killed his own brother and used his brother’s blood to refine the Blood Pill!”

Yang Yi stood there, feeling a chill throughout his body.

He knew Shang Xiangyu had a foolish brother, and he suddenly recalled that the fool had disappeared ever since the second furnace explosion. However, Yang Yi had never linked the fool to the incident.

In the cell, a brief silence fell, evidently as the two people before Duan Rong were still digesting the bombshell revelations Duan Rong had thrown their way.

This was something Duan Rong had planned in advance.

How could he ensure his walk out from the Judgment and Rectification Department’s dungeon?

By cooperating, he had to cooperate enough! Moreover, as a new Registered Disciple in the sect this year and unrelated to the case, he would very likely be released in the end!

But the information he provided had to be shocking enough and believable enough!

Duan Rong chose to unveil the issue of the second furnace explosion!

Of course, there was one point he couldn’t explain. Why didn’t Shang Xiangyu kill him? He couldn’t reveal that he killed Chen Hu as a pledge. And then, if questioned further, he’d have to explain why Shang Xiangyu didn’t kill Pan Yong. He couldn’t divulge that Shang Xiangyu controlled them with Insect Gu, but he wasn’t affected by it.

Duan Rong had long thought about it. What couldn’t be explained, didn’t need to be.

Sufficient shock and layers of mystery—isn’t that normal? Why? Let them ask Shang Xiangyu. If they could catch Shang Xiangyu.

Yang Sixuan considered Duan Rong’s words.

Based on known information, he had previously deduced that there was a logical contradiction.

Shang Xiangyu’s two failed alchemy attempts! Clearly, he was refining a very important potion.

This potion must have been to alleviate his depletion of origin.

However, two furnace explosions indicated his alchemy attempts failed!

Yang Sixuan deduced that Shang Xiangyu’s origin had been damaged for half a year; without relief medication, he couldn’t possibly sustain himself until he used Filthy Blood Divine Skill to cure himself.

Because finding the Filthy Blood Sect, gaining their trust, joining them, and ultimately cultivating Filthy Blood Divine Skill all required time.

Without a batch of medication to alleviate the symptoms, Shang Xiangyu couldn’t have persevered.

But now, having listened to Duan Rong’s account!

Yang Sixuan suddenly felt that the previous logical contradictions no longer existed. Shang Xiangyu apparently succeeded in refining the medicine before coming out of the mountain.

Yang Sixuan was almost certain that Duan Rong was telling the truth.

”Then Chen Hu and Yin Cong—weren’t they killed in a furnace explosion?” Yang Sixuan was pondering when Yang Yi, standing behind him, finally couldn’t resist asking.

Yang Sixuan’s gaze flickered; he too awaited Duan Rong’s answer.

Duan Rong said, ”They were killed by Shang Xiangyu.”

The cell fell into silence once more.

After a while, Yang Yi asked again, ”Was it because he feared you would leak the fact that he used his brother for alchemy?”

Duan Rong said, ”Perhaps.”

Yang Yi said, ”Then why didn’t he kill you and Pan Yong?”

Duan Rong glanced at Yang Yi, coldly saying, ”I don’t know.”

Yang Sixuan’s eyes, hidden in the shadow of the cloak, stared at Duan Rong’s face, evaluating the truth in his words.
