I Can Devour Spirits

Zhu Qunxiang and the others found some dead branches, lit them with flint, and made torches. Holding the torches, they continued to investigate within the dense forest.

They had barely walked a distance when, suddenly, they saw a massive shadow in the place where the trees were densely packed ahead, akin to a small hill hidden within the forest.

However, in this dense forest, a small hill definitely would not appear without reason.

”What is that thing?”

In the gathering dusk of the dense forest, everyone felt shocked in their hearts. They had just gone through a brutal chaotic battle, which made them easily suspect every rustle.

Zhu Qunxiang glanced at Amo, who was not far behind, and said, ”Amo, could you go take a look?”

Amo looked questioningly at Lv Qingzhu.

Lv Qingzhu’s eyes gleamed slightly, and she said, ”Go ahead, be careful.”

Amo nodded, took the torch from Zhu Qunxiang’s hand, and walked slowly towards the shadow ahead in the dense forest.

That shadow was so enormous, it definitely couldn’t be human. Amo’s stature was already far above average, yet that shadow was several times larger than Amo.

Amo approached the shadow, her gaze slightly jumped, and under the illumination of the torch, she saw the dense forest was filled with heaps of horse carcasses.

More than a dozen horse carcasses piled together, looking like a small hill.

Amo turned back and walked over to Zhu Qunxiang, saying, ”It’s a pile of horse carcasses!”

Upon hearing this, Zhu Qunxiang felt slightly relieved.

The group had finished investigating the dense forests on both sides of the official road, and all the corpses that needed to be found had been discovered.

Lu Qingfeng and Wang Shanshan went to nearby villages and procured three ox carts.

They loaded the found corpses onto the ox carts.

Ximen Kankan took off his coat and dressed Xia Shuangshuang’s corpse with it. Jiang Qingyu’s corpse and severed head were placed together.

Tao Rong had only a headless corpse, and the location of his severed head was unknown.

Beside Fan Yuanhai’s dried corpse sat a shriveled head.

On the other ox cart were piled the corpses of the Filthy Blood sect members, their bodies all adorned with floating blood threads that squirmed, which under the moonlit night made it even more unsettling. No one was willing to drive this ox cart, so Zhu Qunxiang took it upon himself.

Lu Qingfeng drove the first ox cart transporting the bodies.

Wang Shanshan drove the last ox cart, with Duan Rong, Xiao Yu, Shen Mizi, Ximen Kankan, and Lv Qingzhu all squeezed onto it.

Amo was too large to sit on the ox cart.

Zhu Qunxiang lashed a whip onto the ox’s back, and the old yellow ox mooed once before slowly moving along the moonlit road.

Amo walked slowly alongside the ox cart carrying Lv Qingzhu...

They were heading back towards Xianggu County.

This was Zhu Qunxiang’s intention.

They had encountered an ambush by the Filthy Blood Sect, which was a significant case.

Both the targets of the attack and the location where it occurred fell under the jurisdiction of Xianggu County.

The evidence for this significant case was essentially the corpses of those Filthy Blood sect remnants, which needed to be handed over to the Xianggu County Government Office.

Additonally, he needed to write a detailed report about the case in Xianggu County, so all the sect envoys could sign it collectively before submitting it to the sect.

As sect envoys, they had the responsibility to protect this batch of registered disciples. With the deaths of Tao Rong, Jiang Qingyu, and Xia Shuangshuang, there had to be some sort of explanation.

Moreover, these three were young masters from noble families; they all had some background. If this case wasn’t handled properly, it could cause a lot of trouble for them, with many future consequences.

Therefore, they must return to Xianggu County.
