His Beloved Treasure

Li Man’s heart ached at the thought of Li Yu’s icy gaze.

”Actually, am I even that close with Li Yu?”

When Qin Mu uttered the last few words, there was a hint of doubt in her voice.

She wanted to outright say they weren’t close but feared Li Man would think her heartless.

But she believed that to some extent, they truly weren’t close.

The relationship between an employer and an employee is merely one of cooperation, but even among actors, after a script has been filmed, how many continue to stay in touch? Even fewer become friends.

Li Yu had sent her flowers several times and provided opportunities for her to make money, but she felt it was a mutually beneficial arrangement.

If General Manager Mu hadn’t been so terrifyingly jealous at that time, she wouldn’t have let Li Yu send her flowers for so long.

Sigh!

A marital cold war is truly lethal.

After Li Man left, Xiaomei came into her office, pouting unhappily: ”Who is that woman anyway? Why was she so close to you?”

As Qin Mu was about to start editing photos on her computer, she saw Xiaomei’s sour expression and sighed helplessly: ”Honestly, I’ve been so exhausted these past few days; are you sure you still want to be upset with me?”

Upon hearing these sincere words from her, Xiaomei felt a bit sorry: ”So, where have you been these last few days?”

Leaning forward, Xiaomei went over to her desk and then cradled Qin Mu’s face, which had slimmed down: ”You’ve made me so worried, how did you lose so much weight? Ah... it’s not because...”

”Keep talking nonsense, and I’ll send you back to Paris.”

Qin Mu knew she was about to bring up the domestic violence issue again and immediately slapped her hands away, glaring at her with wide eyes as a warning.

”Then, if it’s not domestic violence, why have you not been coming to the studio for several days?”

Xiaomei’s voice had dropped quite a bit, still afraid of her boss’s authority.

”The leader had a car accident.”

Qin Mu thought about it and decided there was no need to hide it from Xiaomei any longer.

Xiaomei wouldn’t press her when she was most exhausted; now seeing her, Xiaomei asked only once, and since the incident was over, Qin Mu felt able to share.

Xiaomei, however, was startled: ”Leader? Which leader? Jian Yan? Or who else?”

Xiaomei reflexively thought of Jian Yan because it seemed like Qin Mu only ever had that master leading her, nobody else.

”My father!”

Seeing Xiaomei that way, Qin Mu knew she would continue to guess wildly if she didn’t clarify, so she just came out and said it.

Three words, yet they made Xiaomei completely silent.

And herself, wasn’t she suddenly silent as well?

She had actually called him her father!

She had even called him ”Dad” in front of him!

Qin Mu was reminded of the scene from yesterday, thinking about how she cried in his arms like a fool, and couldn’t help her eyes welling up with tears anew.

”Is the old man doing better now?”

Xiaomei suddenly didn’t dare to ask anymore, just very softly, very gently asked that one question.

”Hmm! He just woke up last night, so I came to work today.”

”Ugh! How annoying, such a big deal!”

Xiaomei didn’t continue, but having known Qin Mu for so many years, she really wished she could have been there for Qin Mu when Qin Mu needed someone most, but these past three days...

These three days must have been very difficult for Qin Mu, and there she was, resenting Qin Mu for letting her wild guesses torment her.

That afternoon, Qin Mu visited the hospital again, but this time she had ordered a nourishing brain tonic soup from AM.

His hospital room must already be lively, Qin Mu thought, carrying the soup up to his floor, stepping out of the elevator, and slowly halting as she looked at the female figure standing outside her father’s room from afar.
