His Beloved Treasure

After being moved to a general ward, it was also the most upscale ward in the hospital.

Qin Mu had fallen asleep in front of the hospital bed; her days and nights had been mixed up lately.

Qin Haiming still had a severe headache, but when he opened his eyes and saw her asleep in front of his bed, a warm current surged through his heart, his nose tingled, and tears started to roll down his dry corners.

Qin Haiming tried to lift his hand with the IV needle; this was the first time in seventeen years that he stroked his daughter.

Qin Haiming couldn’t make a sound, feeling as if his throat was blocked.

However, he was very happy; he thought he was done for at that time.

Qin Mu felt someone touching her hair, thinking it was Mu Yichen, but opened her eyes groggily to see Qin Haiming looking at her with a smile.

”Daddy! Are you really awake?”

Qin Mu’s voice was hoarse with excitement, and she hugged him tightly, burying her face in his blanket and crying nonstop.

Tears suddenly streamed down Qin Haiming’s face into his slightly whitening hair; he felt like he was hallucinating, as he actually heard his daughter calling him daddy.

”Silly girl!”

Qin Haiming stroked her hair, that call of silly girl, seventeen years too late.

The room was instantly filled with only the girl’s accusatory crying. She had been resentful for over a decade, but at this moment, when she finally got what she desired, she was overwhelmed with grievance.

An hour later, when the hospital director and others had come to check, and Mu Yichen was also heading to the ward with flowers as she had asked, father and son had both calmed down.

Uncle Wang came over after having his meal and saw that Qin Haiming had woken up, and he couldn’t help but become excited and his shoulders shook.

”Acting your age, huh? Clean up your tears quickly.”

Mu Yichen heard Qin Haiming saying that to Uncle Wang as he entered.

Qin Mu couldn’t help but laugh at that, thinking Uncle Wang was like a kid. Uncle Wang must have had a tough time these past few days, whether physically or mentally, with gauze still stuck to his face.

Hearing the door open, Qin Mu turned her head and saw Mu Yichen entering with flowers. She didn’t say much but took the initiative to find a vase and start arranging the flowers.

Mu Yichen was certainly very excited, though he only said softly, ”You’re awake.”

”Yes! You’ve all had a hard time these days!”

Qin Haiming also comforted him, saying just that.

The thanks between men, it seemed, were only conveyed through their eyes.

Once Qin Mu had regained her composure, she was a bit unsure how to face Qin Haiming, so she ran to the restroom.

”Old Wang, you’ve been seriously injured; why are you still here watching over me?”

”I wasn’t watching over you, these past three days your son-in-law and young miss were here. But I hope to stay by your side in the days to come.”

Uncle Wang hurriedly corrected.

”Oh?”

Qin Haiming felt a tightness in his heart, as he thought about Qin Mu, that stubborn girl. How could she possibly be watching over him every day?

”Mumu has been very worried about you, so she’s only been home last night these past few days.”

Mu Yichen added one more thing.

”Yes, and she came back just after having a meal at home. She was truly terrified by what happened to you.”

Uncle Wang continued, remembering the way Qin Mu had called ’Dad’ when she looked for him in the upstairs surgery room; Uncle Wang felt moved, too.

Qin Haiming’s eyes crinkled slightly; although he did not laugh out loud, he was truly excited inside.

The ward was cheerful, but Qin Mu hesitated to leave the restroom.

Thinking to herself: Why bring up these topics?

Actually, her actions were just reflexive; she didn’t want Qin Haiming to know about it at all.

”This car accident, has anyone found out about it?”

Qin Haiming, having survived a catastrophe, was actually touched, because through this car accident, he had learned of his daughter’s feelings for him, which felt like a blessing in disguise.

But his mind still drifted to the serious matters at hand.

”Don’t worry, your son-in-law has already taken care of the news lockdown, only Secretary Chen knows, so you don’t have to worry.”

”Good, that’s good!”

”But this accident was no accident, it was intentional!”

Mu Yichen thought for a moment and, since Qin Haiming had woken up and seemed lucid, he filled him in on what they had discovered in the past few days.

”Intentional?”

Qin Haiming asked calmly, his eyes betraying no surprise.

Qin Mu, listening to the silence outside, came out with the vase in arms, only to find them all a bit silent.

”Are you discussing the car accident? Now that everyone has woken up, why is the atmosphere still so heavy?”

”You don’t worry about this, I’ll find someone to take over this matter.”
