Chapter 72: Chapter 70: The Death Threat Letter Incident

Arriving at the office, Xiao Tian sat unceremoniously in the chair and asked, ”Captain Jiang, what’s the matter?”

Jiang Chao closed the folder on the desk, clasped his hands together, and looked at Xiao Tian with a smile, saying:

”We received a report this morning. The well-known entrepreneur Chen Li from the city has received a death threat letter and is requesting police protection. Do you want to go?”

Xiao Tian smacked his lips and replied, ”There’s no beauty involved, so I’m not going.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang Chao shook his head helplessly and said, ”If you don’t go, I’ll send Wang Meng over.”

After a brief exchange of more words, Xiao Tian sat up straight and asked seriously, ”Captain Jiang, who’s investigating the warehouse from last night’s crime scene now?”

After all, since the Sun Tian case is related to the Water Drop Organization, Xiao Tian also hoped to get some useful information from the police.

”Hmm...” Jiang Chao hesitated. This was supposed to be confidential. However, Xiao Tian’s identity was different from others. After some hesitation, Jiang Chao decided to share what he knew:

”It’s currently being handled by the biologist from the city bureau. Conducting biological experiments secretly is a big deal. I don’t know the specific progress right now, but you can ask Director Bai if you want to know more.”

”I understand.”

With that, Xiao Tian had already opened the office door and walked out.

Watching the tightly closed office door, Jiang Chao felt a bit frustrated, feeling how stifling it was to be a leader.

Just as he stepped out of the office, Xiao Tian received a phone call from Lin Bingxuan.

After all, with such a big incident occurring last night, it would be strange if Lin Bingxuan wasn’t worried.

After hanging up the phone, Xiao Tian stood at the entrance of the detective office and looked at Yu Ningxue sitting inside, murmuring, ”Tsk tsk, that little temper is all written on her face.”

Yu Ningxue was currently in a bad mood, and Xiao Tian didn’t want to be a fool and walk in to take the heat. Instead, he chose to leave the police station directly and drive to Lin Bingxuan’s house.

Just stepping through the front door, a strong fragrance wafted into his nostrils.

Lin Bingxuan heard the sound and came out of the living room with a faint smile and asked, ”Xiao Tian, have you eaten?”

”No!”

Xiao Tian showed a mischievous smile, walked over and picked up Lin Bingxuan, saying, ”How about a little appetizer first?”

Of course, Lin Bingxuan understood what Xiao Tian meant. She answered with a blushing face, ”Well... It’s still early in the morning, wouldn’t it be bad if someone heard us?”

”Heh heh.”

Xiao Tian laughed mischievously and carried Lin Bingxuan into the bedroom.

It was just early morning, and the whole room was filled with the brightness of spring....

Afterward, the two sat at the dining table, eating breakfast and discussing last night’s events.

Just as they had barely started discussing, Xiao Tian’s phone rang. It was ’Web’ calling.

Xiao Tian put down his chopsticks, answered the phone, and asked, ”Did you find out anything?”

”Dear Xiao, from Sun Tian, I only found one suspect. This person’s name is Chen Li, a businessman in Shanghai City. You can start with him.”

Xiao Tian’s face turned serious, and he asked in a stern tone, ”Are you sure?”

”Yes, if Chen Li is not a suspect, then this lead will be broken.”

An hour ago, Jiang Chao had just mentioned Chen Li to him. Xiao Tian hadn’t expected that this Chen Li would be related to the Water Drop Organization!

Xiao Tian’s eyes narrowed!

It seems he must pay a visit!

Without delay, after finishing breakfast, Xiao Tian urgently bid farewell to Lin Bingxuan and drove to the police station.

”Wang Meng, have you gone over to Chen Li’s place yet?”

Xiao Tian held the steering wheel with one hand and the phone with the other, speaking to Wang Meng.

”Not yet, I’m still in Captain Jiang’s office handling the handover. Is there something going on?”

Good that he hasn’t gone yet, so he can just insert himself into the situation!

Xiao Tian grinned and said to the phone, ”Tell Captain Jiang that both of us will go together this time.”

With that, Xiao Tian hung up the call.

.....

Wang Meng put down the phone, somewhat amused and exasperated: ”Captain Jiang, Xiao Tian changed his mind and wants to go with me to protect Chen Li.”

”....”

Jiang Chao nearly spat out the tea he had in his mouth, but luckily swallowed it forcefully. He raised his hand, thumped his chest, and said helplessly, ”Am I even still the leader? Why does it feel so stifling!”

Seeing this, Wang Meng chuckled straightforwardly. Who could blame him when Xiao Tian had such a strong background, not to mention the backing of Director Bai!

Once Xiao Tian arrived at the police station, he left with Wang Meng and drove straight to Chen Li’s house.

Originally, Jiang Chao had prepared four detectives to protect Chen Li. But upon hearing that Xiao Tian was going, Jiang Chao changed his mind and let Xiao Tian and Wang Meng go.

After all, these two were the strongest fighters in Jiang Chao’s team.

”Xiao Tian, this is Chen Li’s villa, isn’t it huge?”

The police car slowly drove into the villa area, and Wang Meng looked at the large villa ahead with envy, sighing, ”It would be great if I could buy a villa like this in the future!”

Xiao Tian wasn’t really interested. After all, both his own house and Lin Bingxuan’s villa were much bigger than Chen Li’s.

After parking the police car by the roadside, the two of them walked to the villa entrance and began to knock on the door one after the other.

”Creak...”

The villa door opened, and a middle-aged man in a suit and tie emerged. He looked at the two of them suspiciously and asked, ”Who are you two?”

Wang Meng pulled out a police badge, and said seriously, ”You must be Chen Li, we’re detectives here to protect you.”

The man inside was indeed the ’Chen Li’ who reported the case in the morning.

Chen Li scrutinized Wang Meng and Xiao Tian and indifferently asked, ”The police station only sent you two over?”

As one of Shanghai City’s renowned entrepreneurs, worth a billion, Chen Li was certainly a notable figure in Huaxia’s business circle.

Yet for this death threat letter incident, only two detectives were sent. How could Chen Li feel safe with just these two protecting him?

Wang Meng understood Chen Li’s thoughts, turned around, and patiently explained while pointing at Xiao Tian:

”Chairman Chen, this is Xiao Tian from our group. He has participated in many major criminal cases and has been awarded several medals. With him protecting you this time, your safety will be much better assured.”

Chen Li said nothing, merely cast a disinterested glance at Xiao Tian, clearly not taking him seriously.

No sooner had Wang Meng finished speaking than a rough and arrogant voice came over: ”Chairman Chen, with us here, you can let these policemen go!”

Xiao Tian and Wang Meng turned around to see a burly middle-aged man with several young men appearing about ten meters behind them.

”Sun Liang!”

Wang Meng’s pupils shrank as he saw the newcomer, a look of shock on his face, instinctively calling out his name.

Xiao Tian raised an eyebrow. This person walked with a steady gait and a solid stance, a person of training. Curiously, he asked, ”Wang Meng, who is this Sun Liang?”
