God-Level Special Forces Soldier

Chapter 60: Chapter 58: Memorial

When Wang Meng left with the check Xiao Tian had given him, he glanced nervously at the damaged punching bag.

This inhuman strength was truly terrifying.

After venting for a while, Xiao Feng finally calmed down and sat quietly by the bed, lighting a cigarette for himself.

Enveloped in smoke, Xiao Tian’s face turned somber.

After some thought, he shifted slightly to take out a locked suitcase from the bedside table and entered a highly complex password on it.

”Click”

The box opened, revealing its contents.

If anyone else were present, they would be frightened to death seeing this.

Inside was a piece of skin, human skin!

This was something Xiao Tian had personally peeled from the body of the bandit who kidnapped Han Yan, and through special treatment, it remained preserved.

The palm-sized human skin had a water droplet-shaped tattoo on it.

The sea-blue water drop looked vivid and lifelike, undoubtedly crafted by a master.

The organization that those bandits belonged to was extremely mysterious; even with all of Xiao Tian’s resources, he couldn’t find out anything.

Later, he considered whether he could find clues through this water drop tattoo; after all, it appeared to be a kind of totem token. But he still failed.

The gang seemed to appear out of nowhere, Xiao Tian searched domestically and around the world, but could not find a trace.

In the end, with no other choice, he returned home.

This small water drop, what does it represent? What is the origin of that organization? Why did they launch such a targeted activity and then disappear again...

Endless questions echoed in Xiao Tian’s mind, yet remained unanswered.

...

On the first day of May Day, Xiao Tian first called Lin Bingxuan, telling her he had something to do tomorrow and would return in a couple of days.

Lin Bingxuan noticed Xiao Tian’s peculiarity that night, feeling a bit of doubt but asked no further, only reminding him to stay safe.

Afterwards, Xiao Tian went to the bureau to ask for a day off; the criminal police team did not have statutory holidays like regular units to enjoy leisurely.

Upon receiving Xiao Tian’s leave request, Bai Tao readily approved, dealing face-to-face with such a highly-skilled and incomparably prestigious subordinate left no room for leadership act.

The next morning, Xiao Tian rose early, dressed in a black suit, looking less flamboyant than usual, yet much more solemn and heavy.

...

The place Xiao Tian headed to was naturally Liu Hanyan’s grave.

When Liu Hanyan unexpectedly passed away, Xiao Tian buried her here. Not only was this place blessed with excellent feng shui, but the area was also away from the hustle and bustle of the city, boasting exceptionally beautiful scenery, good enough even to build a resort.

This was Liu Hanyan’s hometown.

Xiao Tian parked his car by the roadside, carrying two bottles of wine, some incense, candles, and paper money, and walked silently to Liu Hanyan’s grave.

The epitaph stood out with large engraved characters—Loving Memory of Liu Hanyan, Established by Xiao Tian!

”Time flies, Han Yan, I’ve come to see you again...”

Xiao Tian slowly sat in front of the tombstone, gently stroking its surface, a faint smile on his face.

”This time, I brought you your favorite wine and your favorite snacks. Long time no see, I hope you are doing well down there...”

Xiao Tian murmured to himself, then quietly placed the snacks in front of the grave. He opened both bottles of wine, poured one slowly on the soil of the grave while drinking the other silently.

”You used to say I was amazing, that I was like a hero, but I know in my heart, I am not a hero. Not only did I fail to protect you, but years have passed and I still haven’t found those bastards who harmed you. I can’t avenge you; truth be told, I feel quite useless...”

As he spoke, Xiao Tian gulped a mouthful of liquor, the high alcohol content seemed to ignite a fire within his chest.

”I’ve searched all over Hua Country, searched the world, but those guys are like underground rats, I can’t find them no matter what...”

”If they really are rats that burrow, I will dig three feet deep to unearth them, peel their skins and pull their tendons, use their heads to earn your forgiveness!”

”Crack!”

The bottle in Xiao Tian’s hand shattered along with his words, a fierce aura emanated, making the surrounding air tense.

His face was already ferocious, his eyes seemingly filled with just one word—revenge!

Blood debts must be paid in blood!

The organization hidden behind the scenes must pay the price in blood for the crimes committed!

This was what Xiao Tian had been pursuing, something he wouldn’t forget in his lifetime.

If time smooths over all wounds, then Xiao Tian’s obsession only deepens with time, until he utterly destroys that organization!

...

”Look at me, wasn’t paying attention, spilled all the wine.”

After a long while, Xiao Tian chuckled bitterly, cleaned up the shattered glass pieces, then silently lit incense, candles, and paper money, also lighting a cigarette for himself, sitting by the flames, uncaring of the scorching air burning his hair.

He quietly sat there, from morning till dusk, as if wanting to accompany his beloved woman into eternity.

At midnight, Xiao Tian remained seated there, slowly closing his eyes, the cool evening breeze felt like Han Yan’s gentle touch on his cheek...

...

Xiao Tian sat by Liu Hanyan’s grave for two full days and nights, apart from that bottle of wine, he had almost nothing else.

”I have to go, I’ll come by again in some time.”

Xiao Tian slowly got up from the ground, moved his stiff body, the dew still on him dripped from his clothes and shattered on the ground.

Taking one last look at the name on the tombstone, he turned and left; his upright figure, under the slanting sun, appeared a bit desolate and lonely, leaving a long shadow behind.

At this moment, a slight breeze blew, as if a lonely shadow was silently standing beside him, bidding him farewell.

Xiao Tian paused his steps but did not look back; instead, he continued forward, his pace clearly more resolute and determined than before!
