Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 739: Encounter in the Origin Sea

The Origin Sea could be described as both desolate and lively.

Lively because countless lights constantly shone, illuminating the otherwise dark void, with each one representing a complete world with its own residents.

Desolate because, while wandering through it, it was highly unlikely to meet any other living creature.

Liora had obviously decided to return to the Demon World on her own rather than using an array. Although doing so would be more time-consuming, it could expand her horizons.

Yet despite having passed through several world clusters and meeting thousands of worlds, she had yet to meet a single person.

Much less a living being, she had not even seen any traces of one. It was as though she was alone.

“But this is normal…”

“Although there are many worlds in the Origin Sea, most of them are lower-level. Their residents don’t have the strength or ability to enter the Origin Sea.”

“Only a tiny portion of these worlds is slightly stronger. Even then, only its apex powerhouses will choose to wander outside.”

“As for higher-level worlds, they can hardly be found. It’s difficult to meet one, let alone its residents.”

Moreover, even medium-level and higher-level worlds had certain restrictions.

For example, the Cosmic Universe prevented its native creatures from leaving.

Other worlds were likely to be the same.

This was why the ability of Devils to invade worlds was so valuable, causing many races to turn green with envy.

Even True Devils could wander freely through the Origin Sea, while some Lesser Devils like Liora in the past, who possessed mysterious methods, could do so even earlier.

Countless thoughts raced through Liora’s mind.

The stronger she became, the more she understood how lucky she had been to become a Devil back then. Otherwise, even if she possessed the Evolution System, it would have been nearly impossible for her to have reached her current level of strength so quickly.

Although she was deep in thought, Liora’s movements never stopped.

She “walked” past world after world, moving through the world clusters. She sometimes stopped to take a look at them.

With her strength, she could forcibly enter most of the worlds or even “grab” them and devour them directly.

However, she didn’t choose to do so, as that would be completely meaningless.

Devouring lower-level and medium-level worlds would hardly increase her strength. Even ordinary higher-level worlds wouldn’t.

Other Devils with her power might have done so simply to satisfy their bloodthirsty nature. As for Liora, she wouldn’t resort to overly cruel methods unless absolutely necessary.

The journey back to the Demon World was long.

Fortunately, every Devil had a connection to their birthplace and could accurately locate it, giving them the ability to travel back.

Liora moved in that direction for an unknown amount of time without encountering anyone else.

Yet just as she was beginning to think that the rest of the journey would be as uneventful, she was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong.

—

“Roar!” A terrifying cry echoed throughout the dark void, causing the light of the surrounding worlds to flicker.

The cry’s owner was an equally terrifying being.

With pitch-black skin covered in chaotic symbols and a form that resembled a lion, it looked like an apex predator, born solely for killing.

Gray flames surrounded its tail while it stood hundreds of feet tall.

Of course, Liora understood that this was not the creature’s real size, but merely a form created to fight more effectively against opponents like her.

If it wanted, the lion could multiply its size hundreds, if not thousands, of times.

After all, her opponent was an Ancient Devil Chaos Beast—one of the greatest threats to any being who dared to wander through the Origin Sea.

In the past, Liora had only killed a few members of this race before she was targeted by its “ancestors” and was forced to flee.

Now, despite not having killed anyone, she was directly attacked by an Ancient Devil-level Chaos Beast.

Its momentum showed that it was equivalent to an Antiquity Devil.

Combined with its terrifying physical strength and bizarre abilities, even Primordial Devils would struggle to keep up with it. Especially in a place like the Origin Sea, its natural habitat.

Despite this, Liora didn’t back down.

She didn’t choose to leverage the Cosmic Universe’s strength to deal with the opponent.

Faced with the Chaos Beast’s incoming claws, she decided to rely on her own strength.

“My return to the Demon World is bound to be troublesome. Using the Cosmic Universe might attract the attention of higher-level beings and is not conducive to my own growth. Unless forced to, I will still have to rely on my own strength.”

“… Since that’s the case, this is an opportunity to test the limits of my own combat prowess.”

Thinking of this, Liora no longer pondered.

As her mind stirred, a mask materialized on her face.

Its expression was full of resentment, while two bloody tears streamed down its cheeks.

The instant it appeared, an intense aura of Envy spread out from her.

Liora waved her hand.

Right above her head, two massive black claws materialized.

If one looked closely, they would realize that these claws looked exactly the same as those of the Chaos Beast.

In fact, this was not an illusion.

The two were indeed the same.

Envy Avatar—by utilizing its power, Liora could directly copy her enemies’ attacks.

The resulting blow could be weaker or more powerful than the “copied” attack, depending on the strength of the Sin Avatar’s user.

Although this information passed through Liora’s mind, time did not stop to wait for her to think.

The next moment, the two pairs of lion claws collided.

One was empowered by the raw physical might of the Chaos Beast and the blessing of this race within Origin Sea.

The other relied solely on Liora’s boiling demonic energy and the concept of Envy.

The instant the two came into contact, the entire world cluster was affected.

Such was the strength of Ancient Devils!
