Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 712: Fighting Over Control

The Hollow Ancestor was quite familiar with Liora and her powers.

Although some time had passed since their last battle and he didn’t know exactly what she had experienced, it should have been impossible for someone to change their concepts so significantly.

Converting to the Law of Humanity was even more impossible!

After all, Liora herself was a Devil! How could she possibly embody the concept of humanity?

Soon, however, the Hollow Ancestor had no time to think about it.

Another thing caught him off guard.

Liora’s strength was terrifying!

As the concept of Humanity permeated her surroundings and clashed with his chaotic threads, the latter were immediately blasted apart.

Although new chaotic threads appeared to replace them, those were shattered again soon after.

Under normal circumstances, the Hollow Ancestor should have been able to turn his attention toward her and make up for the losses.

Unfortunately, he was unable to exert his full strength.

Looking at the Will of the Cosmic Universe, which took advantage of his weakness to also launch an attack, the Hollow Ancestor groaned. He had a bad feeling about this.

—

Liora did not know what her opponent was thinking about, and even if she did, she wouldn’t care.

Faced with her archnemesis, she didn’t waste any time communicating and jumped straight into battle.

With her eyes tightly closed, she continued urging the Law of Humanity to clash against the chaotic threads of the Hollow Ancestor.

Inwardly, she was quite surprised.

“It deserves to be an Ancient Devil…”

“Although I’ve made such rapid progress in the Cosmic Universe, he has not lagged behind in the slightest.”

Blessed by the Human Emperor Technique, Liora was currently not much weaker than the giant who had torn apart the sky. If she was willing to pay a heavy price, she would also be able to reach this place on her own.

Even so, she could sense that the Hollow Ancestor was not any weaker than her.

In fact, had it not been for the Will of the Cosmic Universe’s assistance, she might have even lost!

“Is this the benefit of refining the Cosmic Universe?” Liora couldn’t help but whisper secretly.

Her expression grew solemn as her mind sank into her body.

The moment her Humanity Law wiped out part of the Hollow Ancestor’s power, she noticed that she had established a connection with something distant.

It was vast, grand, and seemingly everlasting.

Upon further investigation, she came to realize it was the Cosmic Universe.

As she traced the connection between them, her sight unknowingly moved to a tiny area within the universe, barely a couple of meters in size.

She didn’t realize why her consciousness had descended here at first.

But soon, she discovered that she could control everything within that area, whether it was the energies or even the Laws themselves.

Insights instantly flooded her mind. If she were an ordinary Awakener, she would have immediately made several consecutive advancements, perhaps even becoming a World Lord on the spot.

Unfortunately, the insights were far from enough to help Liora improve her strength.

Even so, she was satisfied.

Mostly because she sensed that this was not the end of it.

The small space was actually expanding.

Two meters. Five meters. Ten meters.

Every time a chaotic thread was destroyed, the space she could control would grow bigger.

Similarly, the speed at which she comprehended Laws would accelerate, as though the world itself was blessing her.

“Is this what it feels like to refine a world? It’s somewhat similar to my state within the Cosmic Sea…” Liora whispered as she “raised” her head.

With her having refined part of the Cosmic Universe, the mist clouding her vision had disappeared.

She could now sense two wills shrouding everything in the universe, permeating every single inch of it.

From her point of view, one occupied about eighty percent of the universe, while the other occupied the rest of it.

Obviously, the two represented the Hollow Ancestor and the Cosmic Universe respectively.

Besides those two, there was also a tiny flickering area.

A third will had appeared. Her own.

With her and the Cosmic Universe working in tandem, the areas they controlled grew larger and larger. The Hollow Ancestor was forced to retreat.

Unfortunately…

“Such a rate of progress is too slow…” Liora shook her head.

At their current speed, it would take them millions of years to wear down the Hollow Ancestor and divide the Cosmic Universe.

It was no wonder that the battle between the two had begun at the start of the Era yet and had lasted until now.

Refining a world… was too difficult. Or rather, the Cosmic Universe was too vast.

Of course, spending a million years to gain control over such a world, all while defeating her enemy, was absolutely worth it.

However, Liora doubted that everything could proceed smoothly.

“I can sense traces of backlash remaining on the Hollow Ancestor’s body. It should be because he altered the past, trying to possess the Cosmic Universe at the start of the Era.”

“This is the reason why he didn’t interfere in my growth before. Aside from trying to stop my arrival, he has not appeared a single time.”

“But that does not mean he possesses no trump cards.”

“Moreover, in those millions of years, many things can change. Who knows if any passing powerhouse takes a liking to the universe and chooses to pick it up and leave?”

In simple terms, Liora did not want to wait.

Her intuition told her that if she decided to wear down the Hollow Ancestor step by step, accidents were bound to occur.

At that thought, her eyes narrowed.

She glanced at the Will of the Cosmic Universe, wondering what it would choose to do. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to plan to break the deadlock.

Oblivious to the future threat, it had begun celebrating, seemingly awaiting their destined victory.

Liora shook her head in disappointment.

“Sure enough, even at times like these, I still have to rely on my own strength…” she whispered inwardly.

The next moment, a message was sent out of the universe’s core, appearing in the real world.

After digesting the information within her message, Anna’s expression grew serious.

Concern crossed her face, along with a trace of relief.

She knew that the second stage of their plan had begun!
