Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 320: Demon Weapons

Shortly after, Liora stood in front of a high tower. The building was only divided into four floors, yet its height was enormous, more than one hundred meters tall.

Clearly, each floor was very high, as if it were prepared for giants.

Since Liora was following Serathiel, she had no time to fully admire it. Under his guidance, she soon stepped alone into the tower.

The moment she walked into the building, the door behind her shut on its own.

But Liora did not show any fear.

Her head turned as she scanned over the room, and various colors and shapes were reflected in her now-black eyes.

Hundreds of display cases were arranged neatly across the first floor. Inside each of them lay a weapon, as a glass surface enveloped them.

Liora’s expression was calm at first.

However, as her gaze wandered around these objects, she soon couldn’t help but show a hint of surprise.

”Unlike its name, the Divine Race members are neither Gods nor Immortals. They possess neither Divinity, nor do they follow the path of faith.”

”Instead, what the Divine Race relies on are Divine Weapons. By establishing a connection with a Divine Weapon and slowly refining it, a Divine Race member can quickly improve their strength.”

”As for how to refine it? It’s simple: kill!”

”As long as the Divine Weapon devours enough blood and flesh of demons, humans, or any other creature, its quality will be enhanced.”

The Divine Race called such weapons Divine Weapons.

But among the mortals and Warriors of the Central Area, these armaments had a different name:

Demon Weapons!

In Liora’s opinion, this was indeed a far more accurate term to describe them.

As she recalled such information, Liora approached one of the display cases.

A silver sword was lying inside, and as she stepped closer, it trembled. Voices rang inside her head, urging Liora to select it and promising her infinite power.

Considering her power and the strength of her will, Liora quickly snapped out of it.

She took a deeper look at this weapon, and her eyes grew colder before she moved on to the next display case.

The second armament was not really a weapon.

It was a golden mask, with bizarre crimson patterns painted on each of its cheeks.

”Though they are called weapons, this doesn’t mean that they are really weapons. Demon Weapons can be masks, clothes, anything!”, Liora recalled Serathiel’s earlier words, and her next experience confirmed this.

She saw halberds, dresses, and even crumbs of metallic dust swirling eerily.

Regardless, her footsteps did not stop.

She continued going through all of them one by one, partly to satisfy her inner curiosity and partly because she wished to find something suitable.

In total, there were hundreds of such display cases.

Fortunately, Liora did not have to observe each one of them closely.

After glancing at them for only a few seconds, she could roughly judge the weapon’s characteristics and its quality.

As such, it took her less than half an hour to go through them all.

Before long, Liora stood silently at the room’s center, as a contemplative look flashed across her face.

”Many, many choices...”

”There are ordinary weapons like swords, sabers, and halberds which can be used to kill...”

”Strange items such as masks and clothes, which provide defense and other auxiliary abilities...”

”Even chains and other unorthodox items can be found, each with a different, unexpected function.”

The selection of one’s Demon Weapon was extremely important, perhaps the most crucial moment in a Divine Race member’s life.

In fact, the most obvious choice for Liora was to choose a saber.

The Blood Blade Technique was a saber technique, and the same held true for her Manifestation.

However, Liora had never been attached to a particular weapon.

She had used swords, bows, spears, and even halberds in the past.

In her opinion, these weapons were only external tools, items used to enhance her combat power. The same held true for the saber, too.

”In the end, it doesn’t really matter what I choose. At most, it can provide me another method in combat and make it easier for me to act as Ophis.”, Liora thought and shook her head.

With that in mind, she did not hesitate any longer.

The next moment, her palm landed on a nearby display case, and the glass around it shattered under her touch.

Ignoring the glass fragments flying everywhere, Liora reached into the display and grabbed the item lying inside.

Then, without taking a look behind her back, she exited the tower.

--

Liora was originally expecting that Serathiel would lead her to meet her ”father”.

However, seemingly having forgotten about his earlier words, he didn’t do so.

After taking a look at the weapon chosen by Liora and congratulating her for her breakthrough, he hurriedly left, letting Liora return to her room.

The latter did not pay much attention. Following the path according to her memories, she soon found Ophis’ room and shut herself in.

Sitting casually on the king-sized bed, she placed the weapon on her lap and looked at it with faint curiosity.

It was not a saber, nor was it a sword, halberd, or any other commonly found weapon.

Instead, it was a large umbrella.

Pitch-black in color and covered in serpent-like patterns, it looked ominous, yet eerily beautiful.

Liora’s fingers gently brushed against its surface. It was rumored that these weapons were made using the corpses of powerful demons, but she felt none of it.

The umbrella felt soft to the touch yet strangely cold, as if it were made out of ice.

Liora hardly cared about these things.

The reason she had chosen this as her Divine Weapon was not because of its eerie beauty nor because she had suddenly become afraid of the rain.

Rather, it was because this umbrella was surprisingly obedient.

All the other weapons she had met in the tower were trying to tempt her to choose them and promised a future filled with glory, while this umbrella did the exact opposite, begging for mercy instead.

”A weapon should have the consciousness of a weapon.”

”If the weapon is arrogant and has to be taken care of by its wielder, then what’s its use?”, Liora shook her head and muttered.

Ignoring the umbrella’s pleas for mercy, she stretched her hand and placed her palm on it, while the saber beside her soul trembled.

Indestructible Matter poured out and flowed into the umbrella, as Liora controlled it in the way Serathiel had previously instructed her to.

”The Divine Race members use the so-called Divine Aura to establish the connection. I wonder if I can use Indestructible Matter instead...”, Liora pondered, and the next moment, her eyes widened.

She had originally expected that she would have to try several times, even using the methods mentioned in her bloodline memories, before she could accomplish her goal.

But very quickly, Liora discovered that she was worrying over nothing.

The moment the Indestructible Matter poured into the umbrella, the link between her and the Demon Weapon was instantly established.

Immediately, the umbrella became smaller in size. Once it was only the size of a human fist, it shot forward and entered her soul.

Just when the umbrella had appeared and was preparing to settle next to her soul, the crimson saber suddenly shook.

A violent aura emerged and landed on the umbrella, suppressing it and forcing it back.

Though the umbrella was not truly sentient, a look of grievance could almost be seen emanating from it.

It was perhaps the first Demon Weapon in this world that had actually been bullied upon the connection’s establishment with its master!

However, Liora had no time to pay attention to its antics. The moment she merged with the umbrella, information about this weapon and its functions poured into her mind.
