Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1614 1614: Path of Darkness

Crack. Crack. Crack.

The cracks on the dome were increasing, and soon, the red fragments would scatter when the barrier fell. Then, the First Starʼs energy would no longer be able to remain unnoticed.

Zargos was ready for this, but only on one condition:

”Come on, Adam. Itʼs time to wake up,” he muttered, stamping his feet nervously on the ground.

Even a monster as strong as he was could not ignore the threat from Morok. It was too high a level, and if he wanted to protect Merra and Adam, he needed all the power he could get.

...

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The dark matter trembled above Adamʼs palm.

”This... Is this the Dark Energy?”

He had never seen the energy look like this before.

All energy resembled light, translucent flows, varying in color depending on the userʼs element. In its pure form, it was crystal-clear, even clearer than the water in a mirror lake.

The only exception was the Ancient Energy with its purple color and gray hue, but that was a different energy type, just like the Dark Energy.

The dark blob twitched from side to side, as if spikes were trying to break out. It was a creature from outer space, arousing curiosity and a sense of threat.

The Silver Weaver nodded.

”Yep. Unfortunately, thatʼs all we have. Just this one blob, just one drop and nothing more.”

Adamʼs mouth corners curved upward.

”Thatʼs enough. I feel the power inside it, and I know where it would be a good place for this energy.”

”Hmm?” The Silver Weaver raised an eyebrow.

He was about to suggest that Adam combine the white orb and the dark matter, but Adam had another idea.

He leaned forward and let the dark matter slip from his palm. As soon as it was in space, it shuddered and became several times smaller, now resembling a large drop.

”Good.” Adam nodded as he watched the Dark Energy slowly begin to revolve around the white orb like a satellite.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Suddenly, the Evolution Tree shook as a bright light before Adamʼs eyes took the form of runes.

[Order of Desire has undergone changes.]

[Your ability, [Path of Tragedy], has been changed.]

[New ability, [Path of Darkness], has been obtained.]

Adam blinked as his eyes momentarily deepened.

[Path of Darkness

You have always known that your strongest ability came from your desire. Now, it is time for you to see the other side of this power. The light may be swift and merciful, but darkness does not wish to accept these sides, not out of malice, but out of a desire to do everything alone.]

”I see... So, all my Dark Energy will be used up in just one use of the ability? I hope itʼs worth it.”

The Silver Weaver crossed his arms over his chest.

”This is your new trump card. Iʼm sure you didnʼt expect to become stronger here again.”

”Hah,” Adam chuckled. ”The Primal Lands turned out to be a surprisingly productive place. Although what else would you expect from an area where everyone is constantly fighting, and chaos reigns?”

The Silver Weaver looked up.

”Well, as strange as it may sound, you should thank the Befallen Crown for that. If it werenʼt for them, you wouldnʼt have received this power.”

”Pffft!” Adam snorted. ”Theyʼre trying to kill me, and Iʼm supposed to be grateful to them for that? No way!”

The Silver Weaver grinned.

”Hey, youʼre going to give that jester the Dark Energy, right?”

Adam sighed. ”Yeah, no matter how, but he actually saved me. If Ramilo decided not to continue fighting, then that was the best outcome for me. Moreover, he wonʼt take my power, Iʼll just share my energy with him.”

The Silver Weaver said nothing more. He nodded, and his frame shook, breaking into many fragments of dark glass before dissipating into the void.

”Alright, itʼs time to go home. For real this time.”

...

Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.

Adamʼs eyelids twitched as he slowly opened his eyes.

The first thing he saw was red shards falling on him from above and a dark star that had flown out of the destroyed barrier.

At the same moment, a joyful voice rang out from the side:

”Hell yeah!” Zargos exclaimed as he jumped up. ”He did it! Just in time!”

The always calm Merra smiled. She was happy for Zargos, for both of them. But very soon, difficult times would come for all of them.

”Adam! Hurry! Give me your hand!” Zargos ran to him, holding out his hand.

”Hmm? You want to collect your reward so quickly?” Adam was confused. ”I thought we would rest first. Your pool and fruit were surprisingly relaxing.”

Zargos wanted to smile, but quickly dismissed the thought.

”No! You donʼt understand! Merra nor I can completely contain the First Starʼs energy!”

Adamʼs face changed as he realized what the dark star above was. It was nothing more than the remnants of the dark energy from the black flash.

”Shit... That bastard, Morok, and his team, are they coming here?”

Everything was clear from Zargosʼs eyes.

”Yes. I hate to say it, but now itʼs not just about my reward. If you want to be absolutely sure of my victory, give me the Dark Energy!”

Adam wasnʼt ready to rush into it, but he had no other choice.

ʼEither way, Zargos deserves it. Only a man like him would be reckless enough to tell me about the Dark Energy!ʼ

Tap!

In a sudden movement, Adam squeezed Zargosʼs hand tightly.

Zargos grinned widely.

”Good choice, kiddo. But Iʼm not going to hold back. It wonʼt be easy.”

Adam smiled bitterly.

”I didnʼt expect anything else from you. Just promise me youʼll kick the shit out of every one of them.”

Zargos laughed out loud.

”Of course! You can count on it!”

Merra watched from the sidelines, her pupils narrowing and her heart clenching with fear.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Zargosʼs aura burst forth in a powerful crimson flame, instantly becoming larger than the barrier she had set up and covering the entire territory of his mansion.

”Good. This is the heat Iʼve been looking for for so long!”
