Chapter 20: Chapter 020: Auction

Having heard Feng Yuan’s words, Feng Wuchen was deeply touched; no wonder Ling Xiaoxiao had said that Feng Zhengxiong was very excited.

“Third Brother, what do you need the mysterious iron for?” With Feng Wuchen not being an Artifact Refiner, what use did he have for the mysterious iron? Feng Zhan was very curious.

Feng Wuchen replied with a light smile, “Father is going to Wanbao Pavilion to bid for the treasure sword, isn’t he? Naturally, the mysterious iron is to be fused into the sword, turning it into a high-grade treasure, or perhaps even into a Spiritual Artifact.”

“But you’d need an Artifact Refiner for that, and Father doesn’t have that skill,” Feng Yuan said helplessly.

“If Father can’t, surely the Elder can, right?” Feng Wuchen said with a smile.

“Are you kidding? The Elder only knows Alchemy, how could he know Artifact Refining? But let’s focus on winning the treasure sword first; a mid-grade treasure is highly sought after,” Feng Zhan said.

...

As they chatted, they arrived at Wanbao Pavilion, which was bustling with people—a stream of attendees entering the auction hall.

“Welcome, three young masters of the Feng family, please come this way,” the Wanbao Pavilion guard greeted them respectfully and led Feng Wuchen and the others into the auction hall.

The auction hall was packed with people, and many high-ranking members of the families from Unmatched City and the surrounding towns had already been seated in the private rooms on the second floor.

“Chen Er, I will help you win that treasure sword in just a moment!” Feng Zhengxiong laughed happily as he saw Feng Wuchen enter the private room.

Feng Wuchen’s sword had broken, a testament to the duel with Mo Ling’er.

“Thank you, Father,” Feng Wuchen replied with a smile.

Yu Wanxiong stood on the central stage of the auction, pressing down his hand to signal the crowd to quieten down.

Yu Wanxiong smiled and said, “Thank you all for coming to Wanbao Pavilion. Today, there are ten treasures up for auction, so I’ll spare you the long speech.”

As he finished speaking, Zhang Han had already brought up the first treasure.

Yu Wanxiong picked up the treasure and introduced it, “The first treasure is a high-grade Yellow Tier Cultivation Technique, the Thundercloud Palm, a Thunder Attribute technique, extremely powerful. Don’t miss out, the starting bid is three hundred thousand Gold Coins.”

“A high-grade Yellow Tier Cultivation Technique! The power must be terrifying!” The crowd below was already excited, eager to bid on it right away.

But here was the problem, where to get three hundred thousand Gold Coins? And that’s just the starting bid!

“Four hundred thousand!” The first to bid was the Family Head of the Yang family, Yang Qingyun.

“Four hundred and fifty thousand,” the Family Head of the Lin family called out next.

“…” Other families followed suit with their bids.

As the families bid against each other, the crowd below could only watch, utterly unable to compete in the bidding.

It might be just a high-grade Yellow Tier Technique, but for Unmatched City and the surrounding towns’ families, it was an extremely powerful technique!

An additional powerful technique could significantly enhance a family’s strength.

“Chen Er, you’re about to enter the Qi Refining Realm. As long as you find a Thunder Attribute Cultivation Technique and cultivate Thunder Attribute True Qi, you could learn the Thundercloud Palm. If you like it, just name your price,” Feng Zhengxiong said to Feng Wuchen, looking ready to bid without hesitation if it pleased Feng Wuchen.

Feng Wuchen shook his head and said, “You know, Father, that depends on whether I even have the Thunder Attribute. Plus, the Thundercloud Palm consumes a huge amount of True Qi. It’s not as good as you think, so there’s no need to waste Gold Coins.”

Upon hearing Feng Wuchen’s words, Feng Zhengxiong and the others were shocked.

How did Feng Wuchen know about the Thundercloud Palm’s high True Qi consumption? He had neither seen nor cultivated it, so how could he know?

As time went on, treasures were auctioned off one by one, but none caught Feng Wuchen’s interest. The Feng family had not bid either, as if they were just there for the excitement.

“The seventh treasure, I’m sure you’ve all been waiting for it! A mid-grade treasure, the Fiery Blade, a Fire Attribute sword, capable of cutting through iron as if it were mud, with immense power,” Yu Wanxiong held up the Fiery Blade and injected a thread of True Qi, causing the surface of the sword to instantly ignite in flames, emitting a fierce aura and intense heat.

The beautifully crafted Fiery Blade, with flames ignited by True Qi, truly resembled a flaming sword, and was incredibly dazzling.

“Worthy of being a mid-grade treasure! Such a strong aura!”

“Anyone who cultivates the Fire Attribute and wields the Fiery Blade will surely have their combat power doubled!”

The crowd boiled over once again, their eyes filled with desire.

Many families, including Feng Zhengxiong, had come specifically for the Fiery Blade, all eager to acquire it!

“This sword is something my Yang family must have!” Yang Qingyun’s eyes blazed with passion, confident that with the sword, he could defeat Feng Zhengxiong!

This was Yang Qingyun’s opportunity for a counterstrike, and he would not let it slip away!

“Chen Er, what do you think? How about the Fiery Blade?” Feng Zhengxiong asked.

Feng Wuchen’s preferred weapon was the sword, and though it was just a treasure, it suited his tastes quite well.

“I happen to be lacking a sword, so I’ll just make do with this one,” Feng Wuchen shrugged and laughed, feigning reluctance.

“Make do my ass! Picky little brat,” Feng Zhengxiong immediately cursed with a laugh and glared at Feng Wuchen, seeing his unwilling demeanor.

You couldn’t find three mid-grade treasures in Unmatched City! The sword being the king of all weapons! The Fiery Blade was a treasure among treasures!

Watching the excited crowd, Yu Wanxiong chuckled and said, “The starting bid for the Fiery Blade is five hundred thousand Gold Coins! This is the only treasure sword in Unmatched City, miss this and there won’t be another!”

“Six hundred thousand!” Yang Qingyun was the first to bid.

“Seven hundred thousand!” Mo Kun quickly followed with a bid, clearly eager to obtain the Fiery Blade as well.

“Eight hundred thousand!”

“One million!”

Many families were fiercely bidding against each other. In just a few breaths, the price had soared to over a million. No one was willing to back down; it was a test of their abilities.

The crowd below, hearing the astronomical numbers, was dumbfounded one by one.

“Father, it’s already over a million. Should we still bid?” Feng Yuan asked with a frown, somewhat worried.

Feng Qianyang said gravely, “A medium-grade treasure is truly rare and indeed not to be missed.”

“Father, a few hundred thousand wouldn’t be an issue, but this is over a million. Where are we going to find that kind of money? And we don’t even know the final price of the Fiery Blade yet,” Feng Yuan said with a helpless wry smile.

Although the Feng family was a large clan running over a dozen shops and selling Spiritual Liquid and Elixirs, the gold coins were all used on goods, so the amount of gold coins available was not substantial.

Feng Zhengxiong spoke with an air of determination, “Humph! If we don’t have enough gold coins, sell the shops! We must secure the Fiery Blade!”

“A medium-grade treasure has already reached a bid of two million. I really want to know what they’ll do if they can’t come up with the money. Are they going to sell shops like father said?” Feng Wuchen shook his head.

“What else can they do? Do you really think they can come up with two million gold coins just like that?” Feng Zhengxiong didn’t believe that these families could immediately produce two million gold coins.

Feng Wuchen smiled mysteriously and said, “Father, don’t worry. I have a way. I don’t want to let anyone else get that sword.”

“Oh? What way?” Feng Qianyang asked Feng Wuchen with interest.

“A fixed price to crush them!” Feng Wuchen coldly laughed and, looking at Yu Wanxiong, loudly declared, “I bid three million!”

As soon as Feng Wuchen spoke, the fiercely competing many families immediately quieted down, their gazes collectively turning toward Feng Wuchen.

“Hiss…”

The crowd gasped in shock, eyes wide!

“Three… Three million? It’s Feng Wuchen, the third young master of the Feng family, who made the bid!”

“Can the Feng family come up with three million?”

“The young master of the Feng family has suddenly raised the bid by a million!”

The crowd was abuzz, shocked as they stared at Feng Wuchen in the second-floor private room.

“Three million? Such audacity from the third young master of the Feng family. The question is whether the Feng family can actually produce three million gold coins! Let’s hope they won’t fail to bring the money and embarrass themselves,” Yang Qingyun said with a slight sneer.

“Family Head Yang, can your Yang family really come up with two million gold coins? Or are you planning to sell your Yang family’s shops?” Feng Wuchen sneered back.

“Haha!” The crowd below suddenly burst into laughter.

Yang Qingyun’s face turned ashen, his eyes filled with undisguised fierceness, wishing he could slap Feng Wuchen to death.

Feng Wuchen’s bid of an extra million had already crushed many families; not to mention three million, even two million would be hard to come by.

Although many families were not willing to give in, they didn’t dare to continue bidding. There was no need for them to lose face along with the Feng family.

“Is there anyone else who wants to make a bid?” Yu Wanxiong was also taken aback and after a moment asked.

“Three million five hundred thousand!” Mo Kun suddenly made a bid, seemingly also determined to secure the Fiery Blade.

Mo Kun’s bid once again shocked the crowd; the astronomical numbers made their faces pale. But could the Mo family really produce that much gold coins?

However, before the shocked crowd could recover, Feng Wuchen’s subsequent bid nearly scared them to death!

“Five million!” Feng Wuchen bid without hesitation, like a nouveau riche who regarded money as nothing!

The entire auction hall fell silent, without even the sound of breathing, as if everyone held their breath. Even Yu Wanxiong was shocked as he looked at Feng Wuchen.

“Five million! Chen Er, have you gone mad?” Xiao Qingqing trembled with fear, thinking that even selling the entire Feng family wouldn’t amount to five million!

“Chen Er, that’s five million!” Feng Zhengxiong also stared wide-eyed at Feng Wuchen.

“Father, just relax,” Feng Wuchen said without a hint of worry, as if five million was nothing to him.

“Heh, Feng Wuchen, I’ll let you have the Fiery Blade, but I wonder if your Feng family can really bring out five million!” Mo Kun spoke gently, clearly having tricked Feng Wuchen.

Hearing this, Feng Wuchen’s expression didn’t change as he smiled and said, “Family Head Mo, thank you for giving way.”

The hall was silent for a long while, then suddenly erupted, with successive exclamations one after another.

“That’s five million! Can the Feng family come up with that?”

“Has the young master gone mad? Isn’t that too much gold coins for a medium-grade treasure?”

The people were all talking at once, none of them believing that the Feng family had such considerable resources.

“If no one else bids, then the Fiery Blade will belong to Feng Wuchen.” Yu Wanxiong looked over the crowd and said, wondering in his heart whether the Feng family could really produce five million.

But when Yu Wanxiong’s gaze met Feng Wuchen’s, his heart skipped a beat.

“Pavilion Master Yu, may I buy on credit?” Feng Wuchen asked with a smile.

“What? Buy on credit?” As soon as Feng Wuchen said this, the hall exploded again. Bidding and still asking for credit? What kind of rule was that?

Mo Kun and the high-ranking members of many families were stunned!

How could Yu Wanxiong dare to refuse? At that moment, his heart was bleeding, but he could only manage a forced smile in response, “Yes, you may!”
