Divine Level Witch Doctor

Zhao Yuan nodded. ”That’s right. I won’t.”

The host was dumbfounded.

This was completely outside his expectations.

Although the host wasn’t a medical professional, he had been invited to preside over a national medical event of the highest caliber and had done his homework. He knew the Chinese Medical Exchange Forum held a position of immense status and influence. To be able to speak at such a prestigious event was a tremendous honor! And this wasn’t just speaking—this was an encore lecture, unanimously requested by the audience!

The people sitting below the stage were almost all renowned experts and top Great Gods of the medical world! Earning their recognition and admiration was an incredibly difficult and prestigious accomplishment. Yet now, an opportunity others could only dream of, Zhao Yuan had actually refused—and so flatly...

’Are you out of your freaking mind?!’

The host almost blurted out the thought. Fortunately, his reflexes were quick enough to swallow the words already on the tip of his tongue. He stammered, ”Wh... why?”

”Because I don’t want to. Because I’m not in the mood.”

After saying this, Zhao Yuan gave the host a polite nod, then turned and walked back to his seat.

The host stood there in a daze, unable to process what had happened for a long moment.

’Don’t want to? Not in the mood?’

’How can you be so willful?’

The host felt like crying.

The audience erupted into an uproar. No one had expected Zhao Yuan to actually refuse, and to do it so thoroughly.

”Arrogant! Far too arrogant!” Immediately, a few people started criticizing Zhao Yuan again.

This time, however, very few people echoed their sentiments.

In fact, many people started to lash out at them. ”Arrogant? You’re right, Zhao Yuan is arrogant, but he has the skill and the right to be! And besides, why is he acting this way? Isn’t it because of you people? Before he even got on stage, you doubted him, slandered him, and made all those sarcastic remarks. Forget a hot-blooded young man like Zhao Yuan—even us old-timers would be furious! The fact that he didn’t lose his temper right on stage means he was already showing you a great deal of respect!”

The people who had jumped up to accuse Zhao Yuan now were the very same ones who had first jumped up to mock him earlier.

Hearing the surrounding comments, this group was highly displeased and shot back, ”All you do is criticize us! As if you weren’t mocking Zhao Yuan earlier, too!”

”We *were* mocking him, but only because we were misled by you!”

The two sides immediately began to bicker, and the conference hall descended into chaos.

Seeing the situation spiraling into a farce, Kang Fengyu rushed onto the stage, snatched the microphone from the host’s hands, and boomed, ”Alright, that’s enough! Quiet down! We have foreign guests present. Do you really want to make a spectacle of ourselves in front of them?”

As soon as he spoke, the conference hall finally fell quiet. Though the two factions still glared at each other, they obediently stopped their squabbling and turned their gazes to Kang Fengyu, waiting to hear what he had to say.

”First, I want to apologize to Zhao Yuan. To be honest, when I heard you were going to lecture on the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor*, I had my doubts. I felt it was impossible for you to do it well. I even thought you’d gotten carried away with your own success, that you were arrogant and didn’t know your place. But your presentation today has taught me a profound lesson!”

With that said, Kang Fengyu turned to Zhao Yuan in the audience and gave a deep, sincere bow of apology.

Zhao Yuan shot to his feet. Kang Fengyu was not only a senior in the field of medicine but also a highly respected elder. Zhao Yuan didn’t dare to accept such a profound gesture from him.

But he had just gotten to his feet, before he could say a word, when a thunderous wave of apologies erupted throughout the conference hall.

”Zhao Yuan, we’re sorry!”

”I doubted you before, I slandered you! I apologize!”

”Me too! I apologize as well!”

Zhao Yuan turned to look, and—holy crap—most of the experts and professors in the conference hall had stood up and were bowing to him in apology.

The scene was simply staggering.

Not only was Zhao Yuan stunned, but so were the people from West Hua Medical University.

Once the hall had quieted down somewhat, Kang Fengyu continued, ”Beyond my apology, I also want to express my gratitude. Thank you, Zhao Yuan, for that absolutely brilliant lecture. The key points you explained will provide a tremendous boost to the study of the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor*! Moreover, your lecture makes it clear that your research on the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor* is at the absolute cutting edge, far surpassing the rest of us! I look forward to the day you can successfully publish your findings and let us all learn from you.”

Anyone who hadn’t heard Zhao Yuan’s lecture would have been shocked speechless by these words. But every single person on site, regardless of their personal feelings toward Zhao Yuan, nodded in agreement.

Based on the speech he had just given, Zhao Yuan’s level of research on the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor* was, without a doubt, at the absolute pinnacle, at the very forefront of the field.

CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!

Kang Fengyu clapped as he continued to thank him.

At first, his was the only applause, sounding sparse and isolated. But soon, everyone in the conference hall joined in.

The applause was thunderous, shaking the entire conference hall. Even people outside were startled by the commotion.

The faculty from West Hua Medical University were also on their feet, applauding.

This was the glory Zhao Yuan deserved. The path to it had been rocky, but in the end, it had arrived.

Amid the applause, Zhao Yuan waved to the crowd in thanks. His gesture, however, only made the applause grow even more thunderous.

The rapturous applause continued for a full ten minutes before finally subsiding.

The rest of the program continued, but by now, no one was paying any attention.

At that moment, all the experts and professors left their seats and swarmed the area designated for West Hua Medical University. They were all eager to meet Zhao Yuan and ask for his insights on the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor*.

The contingent from West Hua Medical University instantly turned into Zhao Yuan’s ’bodyguards’ and ’agents’, blocking the throng of excited ’fans’ from getting too close to him.

”Old Ma, what are you doing? Why are you blocking us?”

”Elder Xiao, I just have a few questions for Zhao Yuan! Please let me through!”

”I mean, what is wrong with you people from West Hua Medical University? Why won’t you let us near Zhao Yuan? It’s not like we’re going to eat him.”

Faced with these questions, the group from West Hua Medical University gave a reply that left everyone dumbfounded: ”Didn’t you all give Zhao Yuan the cold shoulder earlier? Well, now he’s out of your league!”

Seeing this, Zhao Yuan shook his head and couldn’t help but laugh. He never expected his teachers and elders to have such a childish side.
