Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2338 Other Plans

Originally, Davis thought Evelynn would be reasonably able to face her ridiculous immortal tribulation because of her Earth Dragonʼs defense, but after witnessing Eldia and Nadiaʼs Immortal Tribulations, he knew that his karmic burden flowing to them screwed up the difficulty by one level higher.

Consequently, Evelynn would be unfit to face her immortal tribulation or risk a higher chance of death.

”Sigh, I shouldnʼt have absorbed Misteltaeʼs blood.” Evelynn gently sighed.

That failed immortal tribulation blood had added a needless burden to her tribulation.

”No, without that, you wouldnʼt have had fate with the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid Empress.” Davis quickly shook his head, ”It was I who implicated you with my karmic burden.”

”Absolutely not. You just feel too responsible for yourself. It is I who should lament my weakness.”

Evelynn also vehemently shook her head, ”My prowess should be able to reach seven levels higher if I went all out using all three of my cultivation systems for the duration of the heavenly tribulation, but thereʼs a minute problem. I donʼt think hexes are particularly effective against heavenly tribulation lightning...”

Davis became slightly assured as he heard about her prowess but still couldnʼt help but wryly nod. This was one of the reasons why he didnʼt let Evelynn go ahead with her heavenly tribulation.

Hexes were a do-or-die kind of attack. If they worked, they would instantly activate fully and cause massive damage, but if they crumbled upon touch, they would literally have no damage. If a bolt of heavenly lightning managed to get past her Collapse Hex, then she would literally be struck to death as she could not easily form a defense of that level.

The only defensive technique worthy of seven levels higher she had was the Earth Dragonʼs species technique: Earth Invulnerability. It would last until the immortal tribulation ended but would it be able to endure the strikeʼs prowess, especially when there would be three strikes on the seventh level, the last ninth strike reaching the peak of the seventh level?

This was only the case after he imbued her with more karmic virtue until her karmic virtue reached the hue of purplish gold.

It was practically suicide to let her face her immortal tribulation at this moment, causing Davis to want to find a solution.

”Forget it. I imagined that I could cross it even if it were seven levels higher, but since it is known to have become eight levels higher and tribulation-related formations are only practically used to counter the last strike or hide karmic sin, I can only delay it until I can reach that level one day.”

Evelynn expressed as she lightly smiled, but Davis was still immersed in his thoughts. He wasnʼt worried about causing Evelynnʼs immortal tribulationʼs prowess as he could eventually decrease it by two levels as long as he could obtain the purplish-gold karmic sin.

What he was worried about was her chances to defend against the last three strikes. Thinking about it, he suddenly turned to look at her.

”Evelynn, since youʼre an Emperor-Tier Fey, have you got any inherited memories?”

Evelynn wryly shook her head, ”I donʼt think so. Most of the things in there are vague and incoherent. Perhaps, it would only become coherent and readable once I step into the Immortal Stage.”

”I see.”

Davis felt that it was a pity. Otherwise, she would have more techniques to use against her immortal tribulation like Nadia did. If Nadia lacked those nine species techniques, she wouldʼve wasted more energy and consequently exhausted herself to death under those eighteen strikes.

”Even if I did gain inherited memories, I donʼt think I can acquire Earth Dragonʼs Emperor-Tier Species Techniques. My blood has tipped towards the Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid side after all. Thereʼs a massive imbalance between the spider blood and the dragon blood. Perhaps, as I make more breakthroughs in the future, the spider blood within me will become more consolidated while the dragon blood will become completely suppressed.”

Evelynn made an educated guess, causing Davis to look at her. He blinked thrice before he couldnʼt help but articulate.

”What if I brought you an Emperor-Tier Earth Dragon Blood Essence?”

”Then…” Evelynn still had her smile, but her expression suddenly froze, turning to look at Davis with wide eyes, ”Wait… thatʼs not possible… Even Isabella doesnʼt have Emperor-Tier Blood… Are you thinking of invading the Earth Dragon Clan!?”

She hurriedly latched onto his shoulders, her expression looking agitated and worried because if Davis put forth a suggestion, she knew he definitely wasnʼt kidding about it.

”You canʼt… you shouldnʼt...”

She looked into his eyes, trying to find an answer, while Davis still looked indifferent, although he was particularly enjoying her worry for him. The next second, he beamed.

”Iʼm not suicidal, and I canʼt wait till I reach the Immortal Emperor Stage to conquer the Earth Dragon Clan here. Whatʼs more, thereʼs definitely not an Emperor-Tier Earth Dragon out there, or the dragon race would be feared to the extreme.”

”Then…?”

”We create one.”

”…!?” Evelynn became stunned.

Seeing that Evelynn had become stupefied, Davis felt that he had gotten ahead of himself.

”Alright, I admit that Iʼm exaggerating a bit. Even if I could not obtain an Emperor-Tier Earth Dragon Immortal Blood Essence, I should at least be able to obtain King-Tier Earth Dragon Immortal Blood Essence. You know Myria transformed an Obsidian Crystal Turtle into a King-Tier Magical Beast, right? Iʼm going to ask her how she did that and gain pointers so that we can turn an Earth Dragon into one and collect blood essence from it.”

”The blood essence can help you strengthen your body, giving you more of a chance to face your tribulation.”

Davis pursed his lips, appearing none the wiser, while Evelynn had her mouth agape, her sexy eyes blinking to his heart-racing statements. However, after she digested what he said, she still shook her head.

”Even if Myria has such pointers, itʼs going to cost heavily. I donʼt think you should-”

”What? Youʼre going to stop me from providing for my loving wife? You think youʼre capable?”

Davis raised his brows, appearing stern, while Evelynn also stared at him, pursing her lips in speechlessness while her shapely nose also turned red from being moved. Her gaze lowered, appearing to avoid his stern yet caring gaze.

At this moment, she found herself unable to think properly, causing her to clench her teeth before she said nothing and just fell into his embrace.

”Youʼre always overbearing..”

”Donʼt you like it?”

”…” Evelynn couldnʼt help but smile as she felt him caress her head softly, ”I love it.”

Although she wanted to advise against it simply because she didnʼt want him to become indebted to someone, especially some other woman, because of her, the way he treated her left her swooning for his love instead, wanting to be pampered more.

Even though he also took care of others with love, the feeling that all he did was for her and all she did was for him became more and more cemented inside her heart and even her mentality, making her feel extremely fortunate.

Davis gently embraced his wife, thinking about her wellbeing.

But in reality, he also had another plan.

His senses fell on the other shelter inside his soul sea, one that housed a light-attributed wolf that was currently undergoing a mutation. Looking at Everlightʼs transformation that seemed to be proceeding safely, he was tempted to try with other magical beasts.

His other plan was to have an Earth Dragon form a Transitory Beast Taming Pact with him and see if Fallen Heaven could transform it into an Emperor-Tier Magical Beast.

Therefore, the Earth Dragon that most deserved his augmentation was… Mira Ruth, Isabellaʼs magical beast pet.

However, Fallen Heaven had the powers of death, life, and karma.

If an Earth Dragon made a pact with him, what would an earth-attributed magical beast mutate into?

He felt like he was missing the point, not to mention that there could be many complications. After all, Nadia turned into a descendant of a Paragon Magical Beast, so what would Everlight become?

Another death attributed wolf? Or a life-attributed wolf like he expected before? But a life-attributed didnʼt seem to be a descendant of a Paragon Magical Beast from what he could guess. Otherwise, light-attributed wolves would also be descendants of a Paragon Magical Beast.

He felt confused, not knowing what to think of this matter as he had no idea what an Earth Dragon would transform into.

ʼMhm, I shouldnʼt endanger Miraʼs life. I should try selecting an earth-attributed magical beast guinea pig before forming a pact with Mira to test Fallen Heavenʼs influence. However, this method is currently a waste of time since if Mira changed from an Earth Dragon to something else, her blood would essentially be useless to Evelynn.ʼ

After all, Evelynnʼs blood had mutated into a mix of Earth Dragon and Three-Eyed Chromatic Hex Arachnid. If another type of blood is introduced unless it is directly related to Earth Dragon and not a distant unachievable bloodline that could only be reached through Fallen Heavenʼs miraculous powers, Evelynn will become unhealthy or ill rather than have her power increase.

He felt like he should still stick to the method of learning magical beast tier-increasing knowledge from Myria and try to turn an Earth Dragon into an Emperor-Tier Earth Dragon so that he could realistically end up having a King-Tier Earth Dragon.

ʼThe only complication is… will Isabella allow me to get blood essence from Mira? Would Mira agree to give her blood essence? If Mira really did turn into a higher-tier magical beast, then Isabella should also benefit. If Isabella doesnʼt accept, then I wonder if I can borrow the other Earth Dragon Eggs she possesses...ʼ

Davis felt that he should talk to Isabella about it after returning. For now, he simply held Evelynn, taking in her warmth and fervor towards him.

Sometime later, noticing that the Vice Elder of the Fire Phoenix Clan Law Enforcement finally left as he never appeared, they didnʼt deign to stay any longer, returning in the direction of the Thirty-Fourth Fire Phoenix City.
