Chapter 543: Chapter 543: The Little Girl’s True Feelings

Lan Xi’s words were a clear message to Lin Yun: ’I’m jealous. You’d better figure out what to do about it.’

Letting out a helpless, bitter laugh, Lin Yun said nothing. The group continued to chat idly for a bit. That evening, Bai Ling held a special banquet for Lin Yun. She invited Patriarch He, Patriarch Qi, and Patriarch Cai—all patriarchs with whom Lin Yun was on good terms—to the Bai Family’s residence.

During the banquet, the young Mo Qingliu insisted on sitting next to Lin Yun, no matter what.

Although Mo Qingliu clung to Lin Yun, both Lu Bingning and Lan Xi could see that the girl was just an innocent child. She had never experienced any real hardship and was simply pure and adorable.

”What a player,” Lan Xi muttered to Lu Bingning beside her. Hearing this, Lu Bingning just smiled faintly and said nothing.

As the saying goes, three women are enough for a drama. With Lu Bingning and the other two together, it was certainly a show—one that was giving Lin Yun a major headache.

After dinner, Lin Yun, having had quite a bit to drink, saw the patriarchs off. Afterward, Lan Xi walked up to him, snorted coldly, and then silently pulled Lu Bingning away and left.

Watching the two women leave, Lin Yun shook his head with another helpless, bitter smile. ’What is this all about? There’s absolutely nothing going on between me and Mo Qingliu.’

Lu Bingning and Lan Xi were gone, but Mo Qingliu continued to pester Lin Yun, following him all the way to the small courtyard where he was staying. Originally, Lin Yun was supposed to share a courtyard with Lu Bingning and Lan Xi.

But who knew what got into Lan Xi; she had actually asked Bai Ling to prepare a separate courtyard just for the two of them. Now, Lin Yun was the only one living in his courtyard.

”Brother Lin Yun, when are we going to Taiqing Academy? I’ve never been there before...” Mo Qingliu said happily, sticking close to his side.

Pulling Mo Qingliu over to a stone bench in the courtyard, Lin Yun looked at her seriously and said, ”Qingliu, you’re a young woman. Following me around all day like this... it’s completely improper.”

”Why can’t I follow you? You’re my Brother Lin Yun,” Mo Qingliu asked, batting her big eyes and feigning confusion.

Seeing her act like this, with a sly smile playing on her lips, Lin Yun knew

she was just playing dumb.

Don’t be fooled by Mo Qingliu’s usual innocence. In reality, the girl was a clever little imp; she knew a lot more than she let on.

He was out of options. After a moment’s thought, Lin Yun decided he had to be direct. ”Qingliu, look, Sister Bingning and Sister Lan Xi are my confidantes. If you keep following me around like this, they’ll get jealous. Do you want your Brother Lin Yun to end up single forever?”

”Brother Lin Yun won’t end up single. As long as you have Qingliu, you don’t have to worry,” Mo Qingliu said, patting her chest confidently.

Completely defeated by the young girl, Lin Yun now understood her intentions. He had no idea when Mo Qingliu had started to like him.

But honestly, what man in the world wouldn’t be fond of a girl like Mo Qingliu? She had an innocent, guileless personality and a charmingly cute face.

To be frank, Mo Qingliu’s beauty even surpassed that of her older sister, Mo Qingshui. Even when compared to Lu Bingning and Lan Xi, Mo Qingliu was by no means inferior.

It was just that Mo Qingliu’s beauty was more playful, like a porcelain doll that made you want to instinctively protect her the moment you saw her.

However, Lin Yun currently had no intention of making Mo Qingliu his own. He had his own principles when it came to the women in his life: if he couldn’t give someone a lifetime of happiness, why lead them on? That was how Lin Yun saw it.

He tried to reason with Mo Qingliu at length, but the girl was dead set on liking him. In the end, with a blush on her face, Mo Qingliu declared, ”Brother Lin Yun, I may be young and naive, but I know how I feel about you! My sister once told me what it feels like to like someone, and what I feel now is exactly that.”

”I love clinging to Brother Lin Yun’s side. I want to be with Brother Lin Yun every single moment. When I can’t see you, Qingliu gets so sad...”

Listening to Mo Qingliu’s words, Lin Yun knew they came from the heart. Though it must have been embarrassing to say, Mo Qingliu had bravely poured her heart out to him in that moment.

After saying all this, Mo Qingliu’s face was beet red, making her look exceptionally endearing.

Watching Mo Qingliu, Lin Yun was speechless for a long time. Honestly, it would be a lie to say he wasn’t moved by her words. For a woman to say such things to a man’s face showed just how much courage Mo Qingliu had mustered.

After a long silence, Lin Yun finally said gently to Mo Qingliu, ”Qingliu, you’ve seen for yourself. Sister Bingning and Sister Lan Xi are my confidantes. I could never abandon them...”

”I know, Brother Lin Yun,” Mo Qingliu interrupted before he could finish. ”Does that mean if I can get the two sisters to like me and accept me, I can stay by your side forever?”

With things having come to this, Lin Yun looked into Mo Qingliu’s expectant eyes and finally nodded.

Truth be told, Mo Qingliu was very likable. It would be a lie for Lin Yun to say he didn’t like her. But there was one thing that set him apart from other men: he would never be half-hearted with his women.

Lu Bingning, Lan Xi, and Mo Qingliu—each one of them possessed a kingdom-toppling beauty. For any other man, the first thought would probably be to possess their bodies.

But Lin Yun was different. What he wanted was to be able to give his women happiness.

Hearing Lin Yun’s words, Mo Qingliu nodded happily. Then, she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and ran cheerfully out of the courtyard.

Watching the young girl’s retreating figure, Lin Yun smiled faintly and murmured to himself, ’What an endearing girl.’

Having confessed her feelings to Lin Yun, Mo Qingliu felt as if a great weight had been lifted from her heart. The next day, she didn’t look for Lin Yun. Instead, she went to find Lu Bingning and Lan Xi.

The three women went out together to explore Wind City. Lu Bingning and Lan Xi had been in the Eastern Heart Domain for a long time, but they had never really had a chance to properly look around Wind City.

Watching the three of them leave with bright smiles, Lin Yun felt his own heart relax. He was proud to have such heaven-blessed women in his life, and he secretly vowed that he would never let any harm come to them in the future.

Not long after the three women had left, a Maid from the Bai Family came to report that Chairman Qian of the Celestial Spirit Auction House was here to see him.

Hearing it was Chairman Qian, Lin Yun told the Maid to show him in at once. A few moments later, Chairman Qian followed the Maid into Lin Yun’s courtyard.

”Younger Brother Lin...” The moment he saw Lin Yun, Chairman Qian’s face was etched with deep worry. He called out from a distance, hurrying toward him.
