Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

95: Chapter 95 Antarctic MountainsAs a terrestrial planet, although Eighteen Stars is far larger than Earth, its structure is not much different.

Earth has mountains and water, and so does Eighteen Stars.

However, compared to Earth’s highest mountains which are only 8-9 kilometers high, the highest mountains on Eighteen Stars can reach hundreds of thousands of meters.

Two suns hang over the poles of Eighteen Stars year-round. Under the light of these two suns, the poles and their surrounding areas are in a state of Eternal Day.

For convenience, Lin Sheng named these two poles the ”South Pole” and the ”North Pole.” According to this division, the two sides of the Black Belt were divided by him into the ”Southern Hemisphere” and the ”Northern Hemisphere.”

The South Pole of Eighteen Stars is a massive mountain reaching a height of a million meters.

Because this mountain is located at the South Pole and is constantly illuminated by the stars, the temperature at the summit is extremely high.

Furthermore, the material of this mountain is also somewhat special.

The rocks that make up this mountain can absorb the energy emitted by the stars and store it for a long time.

Before Eighteen Stars was struck by ”chaotic information,” some of the highly intelligent powerful races on the planet absorbed the energy produced by this mountain’s rocks.

Because the crustal structure beneath this mountain is unique, the mountain rises very quickly. Even after years of consumption, the height of the mountain has not decreased.

Lin Sheng named this mountain South Pole Mountain.

Although South Pole Mountain can produce these energy stones, no creatures live there.

This is not only because of the terrifyingly high temperatures of South Pole Mountain but also because the Planet Lord does not want any race to claim South Pole Mountain for themselves.

For this reason, no living creatures exist on South Pole Mountain or even in its surrounding areas.

As for the Planet Lord and those powerful races, their residence is at the North Pole of Eighteen Stars.

That place also has an Eternal Day environment, but the temperature there is pleasant year-round, unlike the heat here at the South Pole.

The place where Lin Sheng was standing was the Southern Hemisphere.

Although this was not yet the territory of South Pole Mountain, it was also in a state of Eternal Day.

Lin Sheng’s destination this time was the summit of South Pole Mountain.

He would occupy that place, develop there for a while, and then head to the Northern Hemisphere to deal with the Bone Stripper and fulfill a last wish of Eighteen.

The Northern Hemisphere was home to powerful races that were already large before the mutation. The Bone Stripper’s size had already reached 50,000 meters before Lin Sheng left the Solar System.

Lin Sheng then stayed in the Great Universe for a few more days. Based on the time flow ratio of 1:50,000 between the Great Universe and Eighteen Stars, at least a hundred years had passed on Eighteen Stars.

In a hundred years, Droplet Scatter had grown to a thousand meters. Lin Sheng didn’t believe for a second that the Bone Stripper’s size hadn’t changed at all.

If Droplet Scatter’s size were scaled proportionally, the Bone Stripper’s current size could reach at least over two million meters.

Although this size was somewhat ridiculous, it also showed in a roundabout way that it was not a wise choice for the current Lin Sheng to go head-to-head with the Bone Stripper.

Besides, he had no need to fight the Bone Stripper head-on right now.

Anyway, given the circumstances surrounding Eighteen Stars, it wouldn’t be easy for even Lin Sheng, let alone the Bone Stripper, to leave the planet for a long voyage.

The Bone Stripper was just a turtle in a jar.

As long as Lin Sheng accumulated resources (evolution points), he could slowly claim kingship (eliminate the old Planet Lord and become the new one).

...

The closer he got to South Pole Mountain, the more Lin Sheng felt the surrounding environment becoming incredibly hot and dry.

This heat was somewhat beyond Lin Sheng’s expectations.

Because in Eighteen’s memory, although the area around South Pole Mountain was hot, it was a dry heat, not the kind of heat Lin Sheng was feeling now.

Lin Sheng was somewhat puzzled by this.

”Because I destroyed the Information Stabilization Device created by the Source of Information, the interior of this planet has begun to undergo fusion.”

A piece of information surfaced in Lin Sheng’s heart, startling him.

He hurriedly muttered in his mind:

”In how many years will this planet become a star?”

”About 7,100 years.”

Lin Sheng was relieved.

A span of seven thousand years was enough for him to deal with the Bone Stripper and leave this planet.

...

Lin Sheng arrived at the foot of South Pole Mountain.

Blocking his way was a mountain so high that its peak was nowhere in sight.

The rocks of South Pole Mountain were entirely black, piercing through the clouds like the ** of Eighteen Stars.

Looking up at the summit from the foot of the mountain, even though Lin Sheng’s body length was over 6,000 meters, a sense of insignificance still rose in his heart as he gazed upward.

Lin Sheng took off and flew toward the summit at a normal speed of 30 kilometers per second.

After flying for about two minutes, Lin Sheng reached the summit.

Upon arriving here, the evolution points provided by ”Stellar Energy” began to increase significantly.

The temperature at the summit was much higher than at the foot, but Lin Sheng was, after all, a creature that had been near the sun. Although that distance was still far from the sun’s corona, it was still higher than the perceived temperature here.

The air temperature here did not exceed Lin Sheng’s limit of endurance. Although it was somewhat hot, it was still within the range he could accept for a long time.

Lin Sheng observed the summit; the stones there were slightly different from those in other places.

Because it was close to the star and absorbed more energy than the Ground, the stones here emitted faint red light amidst the blackness.

Lin Sheng reached out his claws and pried a large piece of red-glowing black stone from the summit.

”Hah, hah!”

The temperature of the black stone was beyond Lin Sheng’s expectations.

Holding this black stone was like an ordinary person holding a freshly baked sweet potato.

Lin Sheng kept switching it between his left and right hands to reduce the burning sensation it caused.

After tossing it back and forth a few times, the black stone did not cool down.

Seeing this, Lin Sheng threw it directly into his mouth.

”Ow!”

The black stone brushed against Lin Sheng’s throat and fell into his stomach. Previously, during the battle with the Zerg Swarm, because of the emergency, the ”chaotic information” had proliferated extensively, causing Lin Sheng’s sense of pain to be reduced to a minimum.

But now, Lin Sheng had withdrawn the ”chaotic information” from his body. Brushing against the scorching black stone, he let out a sharp ”Ow!”

”Whew, whew...”

Lin Sheng let out a long breath of turbid air. He didn’t know how the natives of Eighteen Stars had absorbed these black stones before, considering even he found them scalding.

What Lin Sheng didn’t know was that the creatures of Eighteen Stars did not have a stomach like his that could digest anything.

When the natives obtained these black stones, they wouldn’t swallow them directly. Instead, they would soak them in water and drink the water filled with the black stone’s energy.

Some races would also grind the black stone into powder and then consume the energy-rich black powder.
