Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 635: Chapter 336: The Later the Night, the More Beautiful

”Bodyguards too? Lawrence, are you in danger? Don’t be afraid! Send me your location right away! I’ll bring a whole squad of bodyguards over!” Edward Foster thought he had figured it out.

In the middle of the night, Lawrence Winters wasn’t the kind of woman who, after having a husband (crossed out) boyfriend, would still flirt with other men. But it’s past one in the morning, and she had messaged him repeatedly; she must be in trouble!

She’s being controlled and can’t tell the truth, so she can only hint!

For a moment, Edward Foster imagined several legendary stories of ”a virtuous woman falling into a trap, a handsome man descending from the sky to save her from fire and water, and thus winning her love.”

Thinking happily to himself, he went to find clothes to put on and also notified his security assistant.

By the time he was dressed, thirty bodyguards were already assembled.

Lawrence Winters sent the suburban address she had gotten from the old Daoist and said, ”It’s not me who’s in trouble, it’s my mom and uncle. They went to this place tonight and seemed to have been attacked. I’m not clear on the details; I need Little Edward’s help to surely find them!”

She also said, ”I’ve already bought a plane ticket; I’ll return to Capital City tomorrow!”

Edward Foster was taken aback, ”You’re not in Capital City? Where did you go?”

”I... I’m out on a vacation with someone.” Lawrence Winters bit her lip, feeling a twinge of guilt.

She’s about to indulge here, but her mom and uncle are facing unknown hardship...

Lawrence Winters was burning with anxiety.

Edward Foster didn’t linger on the issue, simply saying, ”It’s fortunate the address isn’t far from where I live. If I were still staying in the city today, it’d take two or three hours to drive there.”

Lawrence Winters nodded repeatedly, ”Thank you, Little Edward! Thank you, Little Edward! I’ll definitely reward you twice over when I get back!”

”Hahaha! A great kindness needs no thanks! No need to be so polite; aren’t we like family? Don’t worry, I’m familiar with this area, and it’s mostly safe; there’s a police station not far away, albeit a forestry police station.”

While speaking, Edward Foster grabbed his car keys and set off with over thirty bodyguards.

Lawrence Winters waited nervously for news, not even wanting to shower.

She just washed her face and mouth before leaving the bathroom.

Kenneth Osborne was leaning against the wall near the bathroom door. Seeing her come out, he asked lightly, ”It’s so late, who were you calling?”

Lawrence’s mind was entirely on her mother and uncle, not noticing Kenneth’s expression. Worried about her family, she replied irritably, ”Why do you care who I call? Can’t I even have the freedom to make a phone call?”

Kenneth Osborne gazed at her intently, ”You were on the phone with Edward Foster. What happened?”

He knew Lawrence wasn’t the type to flirt with other men in the middle of the night. Still, he deeply disliked Edward Foster, a gut feeling of displeasure at someone coveting his beloved.

So any issue involving Edward Foster made Kenneth almost lose his composure.

Watching Lawrence’s concerned face, he quickly collected himself, ”What’s going on? I heard you seemed to be talking to the old Daoist?”

Lawrence finally looked up at Kenneth, grief welling up, and collapsed into his arms, crying.

”Kenneth, I’m so scared! My mom and uncle... My mom and uncle might be in danger!”

Kenneth felt a pang in his heart, ”What’s happened? Don’t worry, tell me slowly; we will figure something out.”

Sobbing, Lawrence relayed her conversation with the old Daoist and showed Kenneth the video sent via the amulet-camera, ”... This was sent from the micro-surveillance in my grandmaster’s amulet, and my uncle’s certainly been attacked! Waaa...”

Kenneth patted her back, watching the video, speaking steadily, ”You’re right, Uncle and your mother are definitely in trouble. Here’s the plan, let’s check out and return to Capital City now.”

”But there’s no flight back to Capital City now. I just bought a ticket for tomorrow morning,” Lawrence choked out, showing Kenneth her ticket order on her phone.

She added, ”I just asked Little Edward. He’s nearby and familiar with the area; he took bodyguards to look for them. We can wait for his news.”

Kenneth frowned slightly, ”Waiting until tomorrow morning is too late. Cancel your ticket; I’ll figure something out.”

”Huh?” Lawrence stared at him in a daze, ”But if we cancel now, what if we can’t get another ticket for tomorrow?”

Kenneth glanced at her, then checked his phone, sending WeChat messages to a few friends, including Francis Johnson, on a hunch.

Similarly, no one replied.

He swiped through Moments and saw that Spring Spencer had posted something ten minutes ago.

It was a photo of a messy desk, with a solitary figure reflected on a large glass window.

The caption read: Another night of overtime.

Kenneth liked the post and sent her a message: Spring, are you still in the office?

Spring Spencer had just finished drinking a glass of milk and was scrolling through Moments.

Seeing Kenneth message her at one in the morning, she was surprised and quickly replied: Kenneth, are you working late too?

[Kenneth]: No, I’m in Northern Spring City, urgently need to return to Capital City. Do you know of any private planes here that could fly us immediately? I’m willing to pay double.

Spring Spencer knew Kenneth fairly well and replied with a smile: It seems urgent, sure, no problem. I have a few friends in Spring City, all in the investment circle, hang tight.

After about ten minutes, Spring Spencer messaged Kenneth: Private plane arranged, go to the airport now, someone will meet you at gate C567 to escort you onto the plane.

She also sent him the contact’s phone number.

Kenneth breathed a sigh of relief: Thank you, Spring. I’ll treat you to dinner when I get back.

Spring Spencer replied: No need to be polite, hurry to the airport.

After confirming with the contact that they were already waiting at the airport, Kenneth told Lawrence, ”I found a private jet to go back to Capital City; we are leaving now.”

Lawrence was thrilled, ”Really?! Kenneth, you’re amazing! I’ll cancel the ticket right away!”

She quickly canceled her flight on her phone, then, with Kenneth, they grabbed their luggage and checked out.

The hotel front desk was surprised to see the couple checking out soon after going up but, seeing their urgency, didn’t ask much, promptly processing the checkout, and watched them leave.

...

Meanwhile, in the coffin in the woodland, Nick Zeller’s leg still hurt, but being with Gabrielle Winters, he felt completely at ease.

Chatting on, he reassured her, ”Don’t worry, Gabrielle. This land will definitely be profitable. Though five billion seems like a lot, once the houses are built and sold, we’ll at least double that.”

”Okay, stop thinking about the houses now; let’s figure out how to get home after daybreak,” Gabrielle gently tidied his hair, ”Your leg shouldn’t be left untreated.”

”Just a break, no big deal. With advanced medicine, a leg break is a small matter,” Nick said nonchalantly, almost whistling.

Just then, he heard someone abruptly say, ”... Are they inside the coffin?”

Then, with a sudden flip, the coffin lid was lifted, and moonlight poured in. He and Gabrielle saw those standing outside the coffin.

There were three or four men, each with a wicked smile, and among them was the ”Nomadic Daoist” who supposedly had left long ago!
