Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 607: Chapter 326: You Are in My Heart (First Update)

She had prepared her own fruit snack of Fire Dragon Fruit dipped in lychee honey, half a peeled kiwi, which was the other half she had just given to Kenneth Osborne.

With a cup of warm milk and cashew nuts, she felt perfectly satisfied.

After finishing her snack, she took the dishes back to the kitchen, put on a Bluetooth headset, and sent a WeChat message to Edward Foster: ”Hey, Edward, are you there?”

Edward Foster always replied instantly: ”I’m here, what’s up?”

Lawrence Winters replied with a smile: ”Can I call you? Typing is too tiring.”

Edward was thrilled, hurriedly got out of bed, locked his bedroom door, rushed back to bed, leaned on his bear pillow, and replied nonchalantly: ”Sure, I’ll call you.”

With a slight tremble of his hand, he had already dialed the number.

Lawrence’s number was already set as a speed dial on his phone.

Seeing Edward’s call, Lawrence quickly swiped to answer.

Sitting cross-legged on the bay window, she looked out through the thin sheer curtain, the whole world seemed to be filtered.

”Lawrence, didn’t go out this weekend?” Edward asked with a smile.

Lawrence shook his head, stretched out her long legs, pulled open the curtain, and asked, ”Edward, has the post-production technical comparison report for the fantasy drama you asked them to do been completed?”

Edward thought for a moment, it seemed more than a week had passed, but there was no news.

He said to Lawrence: ”Hold on, let me make a call to check.”

Edward put Lawrence’s call on hold and called the producer of the fantasy drama.

”Producer Zhou, has the technical comparison report for the post-production of your fantasy drama been completed? When are you planning to give it to me?” Edward straightforwardly inquired over the phone.

Producer Zhou felt extremely awkward.

She definitely hadn’t done it, and she and the director had already found a domestic post-production special effects company, very cheap, just good enough.

But since Edward specifically called to ask, she absolutely couldn’t say it wasn’t done.

In career settings, confronting your boss directly is a big taboo.

Producer Zhou, smiling broadly, repeatedly said: ”We’re working on it! We’ve been working overtime over the weekend, it’ll be ready soon! Also, we’ve found several famous domestic post-production special effects companies, watched their samples, they’re quite good, and we’re planning to sign contracts with them...”

Edward frowned slightly and said in a cold voice: ”There’s no rush to sign the contract, wait until your technical comparison report is done. By the way, you said it would be ready soon, how soon exactly? It’s been over a week now, how much longer do you plan to drag this out?”

Producer Zhou was a bit dumbfounded but quickly said: ”Soon, it’s coming soon, very soon!”

”And when is that? You need to give me a specific time. Won’t Producer Zhou even be able to give a specific time?” Edward was clearly a bit dissatisfied.

Producer Zhou had no choice but to grit her teeth and say: ”Today! It’ll be done by five o’clock this afternoon!”

”Okay, then I want to see the technical comparison report by five.” Edward was about to hang up when he asked another question: ”Are you working overtime at the office?”

”Yes, yes, we’re at the office, but we’re out for lunch at the moment.” Cold sweat broke out on Producer Zhou’s forehead.

After finishing the call with Edward, she immediately called the director and technical advisors, urging them to return to the office to work overtime, bringing technical staff, starting now, they had six hours to rush the technical comparison report!

After Edward hung up on Producer Zhou, he continued to call Lawrence and shared the conversation he just had.

Lawrence snorted, ”Edward, do you really believe they’ll write it up right away? They’ve already found domestic production companies and are about to sign contracts, they’re completely ignoring what you said!”

Edward curled his lips, he could tell Lawrence was pointing out the obvious flaws of those people, but she wasn’t wrong.

He was thinking the same thing just now, he just didn’t point it out.

As a superior, sometimes you can’t be too ruthless, it’s also important to leave some leeway.

Edward smiled and said: ”It’s definitely just surface compliance, but as long as they get the report done by five, I’ll pretend I don’t know anything.”

”Lawrence, do you want to come back to the office with me today to see how ’overtime’ they’re working?”

Lawrence laughed: ”Isn’t that not so good? Edward, sometimes keeping quiet about what you know can also be a virtue. Let’s give them more time to write properly.”

”I didn’t expect you to be so considerate of them.”

Lawrence quickly said: ”It’s not for their sake.”

”From what I heard, they’ve already secured a production company, and coincidentally, the effects I’ve arranged for are done today. How about this, on Monday we let them bring in the post-production special effects company’s tech people they found to the office, and we listen to their self-introductions?”

Edward shook his head and said: ”No, I said five, so it’s five, I can’t undermine my own authority.”

Lawrence’s eyes turned, she said: ”You also have a point. Our drama is currently in our hands, and the interest accumulates daily, so indeed, we should seize every minute.”

Edward, secretly excited, said: ”How about this, I’ll notify them, tonight at seven, have those post-production special effects companies come to the office for a meeting, you can come with me to see their samples, how about that? You can bring your samples too, let everyone have a look.”

Lawrence thought that Kenneth would probably be working overtime in the study again today, so with nothing else to do, going to the office might be a good way to subtly promote Kenneth’s work, showing them what awesomeness looks like!

She agreed: ”Alright, when are you going to the office?”

”Here’s the plan, I’ll pick you up at three in the afternoon, we’ll go for lunch first, and by the time we finish it will be around five, then you can come to the office with me.” Edward noticed that today Lawrence’s way of saying ”you” was more formal than before, it felt awkward, so he intentionally changed his way of addressing her.

Lawrence found it awkward too, laughing: ”Edward, why are you addressing me with ’you’?”

Edward curled his lips, touched his chin, and said: ”You see, you find it awkward too? I’ve told you before not to say ’you’ to me, but you insisted, so I’ve had to say it in return.”

”But you’re my boss, saying ’you’ is a sign of respect. When you say ’you’ to me, what does that mean?” Lawrence nimbly jumped down from the bay window.

Edward replied, half-smiling: ”What does it mean? Maybe it means you are in my heart.”

To have you in my heart is for ”you.”
