Death… And Me

Chapter 3689: Don’t Miss It!

[The system has reached a point where developing new upgrades has become increasingly difficult. This issue arose due to the hosts’ advanced cultivation technique, which significantly exceeds the traditional methods used in the past. The same applies to the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm, representing a major upgrade from the previous Soul Gem Dimensional Realm. The current state of the hosts, their companions, and the dimensional realm is entirely new, and the system lacks the necessary experience to manage these changes.]

[Quest: The System Finders]

[Description: As the hots already predicted when they arrived in the Werdlem Empire, the Celestial Soul System isn’t the only System in existence.]

[Objective: Acquire a connection, a piece, or any other kind of system-related material from another system for analysis.]𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

[Reward: New upgrades based on the contributions of acquired system information.]

[Time: Unlimited]

[Additional Information: This quest has no end, and more system information can be added to improve the Celestial Soul System.]

Rean and Roan looked at each other. Right after, they shared the new information with the rest of the group, including Zangeshu.

”So the lack of new upgrades is because we surpassed what the system could manage, uh?” Celis commented, still surprised. ”Now that I think about it, our methods are far beyond anything that has ever appeared in our Lisan Universe. Since the system was built with the Lisan Universe’s Control Orb, or Root Egg, it makes sense that it can’t figure out better upgrades. It has nothing to work with.”

[It’s not that it can’t figure out better upgrades,] Sister Orb added. [It can. It even said that creating new upgrades would be ’increasingly difficult.’ It didn’t say it is impossible. I think that as long as we give it enough time, it will eventually come up with new upgrades. After all, it evolves together with its hosts.]

”How much time are we talking here?” Roan asked Sister Orb.

[Who knows? It could take a minute or it could take a million years. However, since the system created this quest, I’m fairly certain it will take a very long time to come up with anything new. To be honest, I don’t think creating something new is the real issue. The challenge is likely to create something new that is suitable for all of you now that you have become what you are.]

”It makes sense,” Zangeshu joined on the side, interested. ”Master, Roan, Celis, and Kentucky don’t even have Dantians and Cores anymore. Their souls are present in their entire bodies instead of their heads. You can literally revive from a single drop of blood with your cultivations intact. I truly wouldn’t want to be the one to think about new upgrades for such weird existences.”

That reminded Roan of the ’lie’ he told the Hibiscus back in the Golden Palace. Back there, Rean cut his head off so he could prevent the Golden Petal’s powers from killing Roan after it hit his body. He told the Hibiscus that he obviously protected his head since that’s where his soul was located. Well, it wasn’t entirely a lie since his soul was also present there, but so it was everywhere else.

”Alright, so be it...” Roan moved to the next part. ”Just where the hell would we even find another system? I’m pretty sure the Werdlem Empire System is also a system like ours, although it has its own abilities. However, I highly doubt we can get a piece of it for our own system to analyze.”

[We don’t even know if the Werdlem System is found in a specific location. What if there is an expert who has it inside their pocket Dimensional Realm? Back in Lisan, I worked with our system as a manager of many other things in the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm, which, although the scale was countless times smaller, was still a similar thing to the Werdlem System in the Werdlem Empire.]

Rean couldn’t help but feel a chill on his back. ”What if... What if the Werdlem Empire is actually a Dimensional Realm, the Werdlem System’s Dimensional Realm?”

Everyone went silent. However, there were problems with that theory.

”Are you sure?” Kentucky pointed one out. ”You, Roan, and Sister Orb can see everything that happens inside the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm. If the Werdlem Empire is a System’s Dimensional Realm, we would have been discovered the very moment we appeared here. Don’t you think?”

”No,” Celis remembered something. ”Did you forget, Kentucky? The Soul Gem Dimensional Realm was left behind in the Lisan Universe. No one controls it anymore. No one can do the same thing as Rean, Roan, and Sister Orb and see absolutely everything that happens inside. The Werdlem Empire’s Dimensional Realm might be in a similar state. It might not have a host anymore.”

”Alright, let’s stop here,” Roan cut in. ”Even if Celis or Kentucky is right, the location of the Werdlem System is definitely not a place we could ever hope to get close as we are now. The point we must focus on is the quest itself.”

Rean understood where Roan was coming from. ”The system never gives quests that are impossible to complete. That said, the Werdlem System most likely isn’t the only system available. There is another one, or possibly various others. The only question is, where could we find one?”

”Could information regarding them be available in the Werdlem Network?” Celis asked Sister Orb. She could do a search faster than any of them there.

[I could try to look for it, but I don’t think it is a good idea. As the power responsible for the Werdlem Empire, wouldn’t you keep an eye on your own network for experts looking for information regarding systems? Sure, our Celestial Soul System can be used to mask our location, but it would still be risky since our system can’t delete the search logs. They would eventually lead to this Universe. I don’t think it is worth the risk to have the Werdlem Empire on our arses again.]

Everyone nodded. ”Sister Orb is right.”

”We have two options then,” Roan continued. ”Ignore it, or use the Celestial Clue.”

”Do we need new upgrades right now?” Kentucky asked them.

”Nope,” the twins shook their heads.

Kentucky shrugged in response. ”Then ignore it is.”

The twins’ mouths twitched. ”What the fuck?!”
