Death… And Me

Chapter 3426: Extrication

’Roan,’ Rean contacted him. ’If this works, it will most likely be usable for Dark Element as well.’

Roan was in front of a stall, having the disciple behind the counter register his Sect Pass. By now, he already got the points and cleared the requirement to buy it. ’That’s what I thought as well. However, if you think about it, I doubt we would get stronger by using that method. Also, that would bring some great disadvantages as well.’

’I agree with Roan,’ Kentucky suddenly joined the conversation by using Sister Orb. He didn’t have that soul connection the twins had with each other, but it wasn’t a problem with Sister Orb there to make the bridge. ’The main issue would be the lack of certain elements in certain environments.’

Roan glanced in Kentucky’s direction and noticed the bird flying leisurely above as if bored. ’Have you already acquired your pass for you to get in the middle of our talk like that?’

’That I did!’ Kentucky stuffed his chest with pride. ’Those idiots thought that I was slower than them in the air just because I’m bigger. Hehe! They were just asking for it.’

’You mean, they thought you were fatter, not bigger,’ Rean corrected the Minokawa.

’Shut up! No one asked your opinion!’ Kentucky cut his words, though.

Roan ignored their antics and continued. ’In any case, Kentucky is right. For example, suppose Light or Dark Element truly becomes such a critical existence for our cells’ structures. In that case, we will be impacted by the lack of such elements in certain environments. The Underworld would make me stronger, but Rean would suffer. The other way around is also true, with Rean being stronger in the heavens while I would be pretty much useless. It is not worth it. Of course, the Heavens and Underworld aren’t the only places with such disparities.’

Rean pondered a bit about it. ’What if we chose both paths? We could make our cells accept both Light and Dark Elements as part of their structure to improve our Celestial Bloodline. That way, we could work in any environment.’

’Still not a good approach,’ Kentucky was the one to speak. ’Once again, going into environments with higher Light or Dark Elements would cause trouble with the balance of Light and Dark Elements in our bodies. For Roan and you, that should be even more critical since your main strength comes exactly from the perfect balance of those two elements and everything that encompasses them. Sister Orb would be better positioned to confirm my words, though.’

[Hum? Well, I can’t deny that risk, but it is ultimately your choice.]

’Although he seems too smart for his own good, Kentucky is right,’ Roan continued. ’With both elements being part of our cells’ structures, the balance is not something we could consciously control. In any case, I don’t see much of a need to go to this extent. Our Celestial Bloodline already provides us with way more power than any other bloodline we know. There is no need to try to bite more than we can chew.’

’The first part of your comment was unnecessary...’ Kentucky complained to Roan, who simply ignored him.

Finally, Rean sighed and gave up. ’Fine... I still think this method has some worth, but the risks are too high. I will scrap this idea for the time being and see if I can find a compromise later.’

That conversation took only a few seconds, but Saria noticed how Rean went quiet all of a sudden. ”Are you daydreaming?”

”Uh?” Rean’s attention returned, looking at the girl. ”Oh, right. It is my time. Go ahead, ask whatever you want.” He did agree that he would also answer everything she wanted to know about his skills, after all.

Saria was satisfied to hear that, and she began her plethora of questions regarding Rean’s Healing Skills. Not only that, she also noticed that Rean was indeed countless times better at gathering Light Element than she was. And even though that was the case, Rean’s Light Element never lost its purity. She definitely couldn’t achieve that. If she tried to gather more than she did before, Saria would definitely lose some degree of purity, and it would decay the more she tried to control at once. Thus, she took her time to ask about everything she wanted to know.

With Rean busy entertaining Saria, Roan scanned the field, looking for Rifindio, Zangeshu, and Ridia. Rifindio was the first one he found, seemingly alone in front of a stall and looking at the options. Checking Rifindio’s token, Roan saw almost 5000 points, which he definitely won against the various other bats from other races. ’What are you intending to choose?’

Rifindio noticed Roan and pointed at the penultimate option on that stall’s list. ’This requirement here only asks for a bloodline test. If it is deemed strong enough, I will clear the requirement and be allowed to buy a pass. What do you think? You know what race I came from, and selecting this one might reveal it.’

Roan looked at the option and pressed it. Immediately, a warning appeared, saying that he was already accepted by the sect and that he couldn’t intervene with the test anymore. Nonetheless, it still gave a more detailed description of that option. ’I don’t think they will be able to identify your bloodline through this. When we first met, your bloodline’s concentration was already pretty poor in the Camazotz Bat race. Then, most of it got stolen by the Abyssal Beast.’

Roan didn’t stop there. ’But what happened after that? You became Kentucky’s disciple and began to receive a constant supply of Kentucky’s Regal Bloodline. Well, it is now a Celestial Bloodline, which is even better. Although that doesn’t mean you will have a Minokawa Bloodline, it definitely affected your Camazotz Bloodline to a great extent. Now, your bloodline concentration has increased a lot and even surpassed the concentration it had back then before the Abyssal Beast’s event. It’s just that I definitely wouldn’t call it a Camazotz Bloodline anymore. It’s something much better.’

Rifindio looked at his hand, nodding in the end. ’I also noticed that transformation, and I know it was something amazing. Still, I wonder if it is really a good thing to extricate myself from the original Camazotz Bat bloodline.’

’That is something only you can decide,’ Roan concluded, turning around to leave. ’But in regard to the Sect Pass Requirement, you should try it. It will not consider you a Camazotz Bat.’

In the end, Rifindio nodded and selected the option. His bloodline was then tested by an elder to see if he reached the degree necessary, and it, in fact, surprised the elder. Without any issues, the requirement was cleared, and Rifindio was allowed to use his token points to buy the Sect Pass, which got him accepted into the sect.
