Death… And Me

Chapter 3411: I Hope They Don’t

”What are you doing?” Zangeshu asked as he used his Lightning Element to cauterize the injury where his missing arm was located. He had been in a world of pain while Rean trained him for years, so he was already used to it.

Ridia wiped out the tears on her face and became serious. ”I’m using my leaves together with my Parasol Tree Innate Ability.”

Zangeshu heard about it. Back then, Gian, the Space-Time Realm Parasol Tree, used his innate ability to find Rean as well. It was all about an extremely high sensitivity to auras. (Chap 3325)

”It is easier to feel the surroundings through my leaves, and if there is even a tiny bit of aura, I will be able to detect it.” Ridia then looked at Zangeshu. ”I will not let them sneak on us anymore!”

Zangeshu narrowed his eyes. She came to accept their situation quite fast and even overcame it. He, on the other hand, took quite a few years to get used to that side of the cultivation world. ’Well, she is, in fact, over a thousand years old... perhaps that’s making her mature much faster than anyone else.’

Nonetheless, he nodded, satisfied. ”Then do it. Let me know if yo-”

”There!” Zangeshu didn’t even have the time to speak before Ridia pointed out and shouted.

Obviously, he understood what she was trying to say and circulated his Lightning Element before pointing his sword.

’Thunder Line!’

A ray of lightning shot forward, guided by his Divine Energy and Sense, hitting an empty point in space. It wasn’t really empty, though...

*Arrrgh!*

Immediately, a cultivator came off from his concealment, and his body fell to the ground. He wasn’t dead, nor did he have any lasting damage, as Zangeshu controlled his strength to perfection. He was definitely a genius when it came to precision. With that, he wouldn’t be disqualified from the test either.

For the first time since he was forced to go with Ridia, he showed a little smile, a genuine one. ”Hmph! You aren’t that useless, after all. Keep doing it since I can’t detect these guys.”

Ridia immediately became happy again, but she controlled herself and returned to her serious expression. ”Yes!”

---

Somewhere at the top of the Divine Snow Mountain, there was a room with countless screens and spheres. Many disciples and elders of the Divine Snow Mountain sect seemed to be watching the screens and using those spheres to control many different formations. At the back of that room, separated by a glass window, a woman with several snow-white feathers on her body watched the whole thing.

”So, how is the test going?” At that moment, a man entered the room, stopping by her side and watching the disciples and elders below.

The female demon beast nodded slightly, although she seemed bored. ”What do you expect? Pretty much a mess. Get to the sect alive... Such a condition is too lax.”

The man didn’t seem to be bothered by it. ”It’s fine, it’s fine. Most of them are expendable anyway. We just need some numbers with some degree of quality. That’s why we didn’t just let them face the dangers of our forest but also our disciples, right? Those two factors will get rid of many of the useless bunch, leaving behind just those who are of some use. Everything is for the sake of the next incursion.”

”Do you think just numbers will be enough?” The woman couldn’t help but ask.

”If it isn’t, then so be it,” the man answered without a care. ”We simply offer some compensation to the more annoying families and ignore the rest. That’s already a great compromise on our part. Besides, this is also an opportunity for everyone, including those who manage to pass the test. If they survive, they will definitely grow in the sect. Who wouldn’t want to rise through the ranks in our Divine Snow Mountain as fast as possible, uh?”

...The woman didn’t seem very convinced, but she didn’t complain either. ”If you say so...”

The man continued to watch below, asking. ”Anyway, you still haven’t told me. Is there anyone who caught your eye? I know you love to watch those with some talent, Silveria.”

Silveria shook her head. ”It’s not that I like to watch them, but that I have to stay here and preside over the test every single fucking decade. Naturally, I have to find something to help me pass the time, so I at least watch the better prospects or those who are weird.”

Silveria closed her eyes for a moment, accessing her VS Device, which was connected to a few of the bigger screens in the room below. In the next moment, those screens changed to show the live action of quite a few cultivators, demon beasts, spirits, and a few extra rarer races. ”Take a look, Bario. Those are some of the more interesting kids I noticed so far.”

”Hehe.” Bario didn’t reject it and watched the various screens. Near the top-right corner, a screen showed none other than Rean and Roan, who just got rid of another group of disciples of the sect. They seemed to know exactly where the disciples were located. ”Not bad; they have some good detection abilities.”

There were many in there who could deal with the sneak attacks, but very few looked to know where the enemy was before the attacks even happened. Rean and Roan were two of those.

At the top-left, a little closer to the middle, Kentucky and Rifindio were also flying in the sect’s direction, but they didn’t seem to be able to detect the disciples of the sect ahead of time. Well, Kentucky definitely had a way, but he didn’t use it on purpose. Nonetheless, neither of them seemed to have any problems dealing with the attacks. It’s just that the majority Silveria put on the screens could do the same, so they didn’t particularly stand out there.

As for Zangeshu and Ridia, those two weren’t even there. With Zangeshu losing an arm in their early struggle, they didn’t attract Silveria’s attention like those on the screens, even though now Ridia managed to detect the enemies ahead.

Bario took a look at the others, and some caught his attention just like the twins, especially those who seemed a lot stronger than their cultivation dictated. ”It might be a mess, but we sure got quite a few good seeds. That’s exactly what we need. Keep up the good work, Silveria.” Finally, he turned around, intending to leave.

Silveria called his attention before that, though. ”Bario, those guys won’t take it lightly.”

Bario knew what she was talking about but didn’t seem to care. ”I certainly hope they don’t. Otherwise, it would all be meaningless.” Finally, he left, leaving a concerned Silveria behind.
