Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Wen Nuan only heard an unpleasant voice and, her mind elsewhere, did not catch what was said. ”Uh, driver, what did you just say?”

”Damn it, the brakes have failed! Are we going to die here?”

The taxi driver’s forehead was dripping with large beads of sweat; no matter how much he stepped on the brakes, there was no response!

He slammed on the brake pedal dozens of times, his legs cramping, but the car continued to rush uncontrollably towards the traffic ahead like a wild horse that had broken free.

Wen Nuan wanted to speak, but suddenly her throat felt blocked and she could not make a sound; she just fiercely gripped Che Huan’s arm, a cry of ”Sister Huanhuan” stuck in her throat, impossible to vocalize.

Before long, cold sweat had soaked through her dress!

Che Huan was not faring much better, sitting there, feeling a severe tremor throughout her body.

Looking ahead, the light was red, and there were many cars stopped; there were also cars on both sides, so even swerving would result in a collision!

Could they really be this unlucky? To have something like this happen as soon as they returned to Hong Kong?

Just then, the car speed suddenly slowed down.

The taxi driver had just let out a sigh of relief, thinking the brakes had miraculously started working again, when he realized that something was off with the car.

The car scraped against the road and came to a stop with a muffled crash, still hitting the car in front.

Che Huan and Wen Nuan closed their eyes, feeling an impact as if it was going to burst their eardrums!

The two held each other tightly, waiting a while before they dared to open their eyes and heard the sound of police sirens.

The surrounding traffic had already descended into chaos; all the passing vehicles had stopped and were completely congested there.

Che Huan glanced at the driver’s seat and saw that the taxi driver, with his head drooping and not responding, his side face smeared with blood.

Could he be dead?

She sat there, her body going limp in waves.

Wen Nuan saw this too and cried out, tightly closing her eyes and hugging Che Huan, her voice quivering, ”Huan... Huan... Sister Huanhuan, he... he isn’t dead, is he? I... I’m scared...”

With the last word clenched out, Wen Nuan began to sob softly, crying out loud.

Che Huan turned pale, also scared, still managed to gently pat Wen Nuan’s back with trembling fingertips, ”Nuannuan, don’t be afraid, it’s okay!”

The two held each other tightly until the traffic police arrived and opened the door, jolting them back from their shock and unrest.

Seeing that Che Huan and Wen Nuan were also slightly injured, the traffic police called ”120” and looked at them, ”Come out!”

Che Huan and Wen Nuan tried to get out of the car but their legs felt like they had stopped working and were completely immobile.

Sizing up the two girls, who were severely frightened.

The traffic police helped the two of them out.

Wen Nuan was still crying, and she was taken to the ambulance with the taxi driver, too scared to look at him, clinging closely to Che Huan’s side.

Che Huan gripped Wen Nuan’s hand tightly, feeling that the accident just now was no accident!

Was someone trying to kill her?

But how could someone tamper with a taxi like that?

Another look at the driver’s seat made her heart heavy with a thick guilt that left her breathless!

Che Huan and Wen Nuan suffered only superficial wounds and were treated at the hospital after a few examinations and were taken to give their statements.

Qin Shaojin and Huo Jinnan were in the next room, listening to the entire testimonies of the two women from start to finish.

The two men exchanged glances.

Huo Jinnan lit a cigarette and took a puff, ”Who else knew she was coming back today?”

”It can’t be my uncle; you saw it too, you and he shot at the same time. If the tires hadn’t been blown out simultaneously on both sides, I’m afraid...”
