Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Qin Shaojin’s lips twitched slightly, and even though they were tens of kilometers apart, he could imagine the dangerous aura emanating from Brother Huo, spreading steadily towards him.

He chuckled, ”Brother Huo, I believe Sister-in-law will definitely call you tomorrow.”

Huo Jinnan didn’t make a sound and hung up the phone.

The next day, he opened his phone’s location tracking and saw that Che Huan’s phone icon was lit up, yet he hadn’t received a call from her.

Che Huan didn’t know how Qin Shaojin could have the hotel’s phone number, calling her directly in her room!

But what should she say after making the call?

Qin Shaojin hadn’t revealed any information to her!

He—

Bit his lip and stared at the familiar number, his fingertip was about to touch the screen but then retracted!

For some reason, he suddenly chickened out!

Taking a deep breath, he opened his photo album, found a picture he took of him while sleeping with no beauty filter, no editing, just a direct, raw shot of the man’s features, sharp and flawless.

Setting Huo Jinnan’s photo as both her screen background and screensaver, Che Huan called Wen Nuan. Learning that Aunt Zhong was recovering well, that there had been several rejections of varying degrees but none that were extremely dangerous that week, she let out a sigh of relief.

Excitedly, Wen Nuan spoke, ”Sister Huanhuan, come back soon! You told me not to tell my dad and mom, and these past few days I’ve been so anxious I couldn’t sleep well. I’ve even lost two pounds!”

Che Huan couldn’t help but chuckle, ”Isn’t that perfect? Haven’t you always wanted to lose weight?”

Wen Nuan pouted and whined, ”Humph, Sister Huanhuan, where’s your conscience?”

Che Huan hadn’t been able to rest or sleep well for days, feeling wound up, and suddenly everything relaxed, ”When I come back, I’ll treat you to a meal and make it up to you double.”

”Better not.”

Wen Nuan hastily spoke up, her mood lifting as she thought of the recent scandal involving Huo Jinyun, ”Sister Huanhuan, it’s really lively in Hong Kong now, you’ll have quite the show to watch when you get back.”

Che Huan asked, but Wen Nuan wouldn’t tell, her lips sealed tight as if locked.

Che Huan couldn’t be bothered to ask any longer, ”Alright, I’m going to book my ticket now.”

After boarding the car and swaying for hours, the closer she got to Hong Kong, the more nervous Che Huan suddenly became, experiencing for the first time that sense of ”homesickness strikes harder as one nears home.”

Getting off the car, she saw Wen Nuan from a distance, standing at the station in a white pleated skirt, looking down at her phone.

Che Huan sneaked up and suddenly snatched Wen Nuan’s phone from her hands.

Before Wen Nuan could react, she started yelling, ”Robbery!”

Che Huan stood there, laughing uncontrollably!

Wen Nuan, annoyed, lunged to take back her phone, ”Sister Huanhuan, I’ve noticed you’re getting naughtier; it must be your brother-in-law’s influence!”

Hearing Nuannuan mention Huo Jinnan made Che Huan’s eyes flicker, ”Alright, let’s go.”

Confused, Wen Nuan asked, ”Where to? Are we going to Muhe Hospital?”

Che Huan shook her head, ”Let’s go to your place first.”

”Oh.”

Wen Nuan helped Che Huan carry a piece of luggage and hailed a taxi.

Once in the cab, the destination given, Wen Nuan affectionately looped her arm through Che Huan’s, asking why she had suddenly taken off for ten days.

Che Huan smiled without a word, neither of them noticing the car speeding up more and more.

The taxi driver struggled to keep control, his face growing pale, as he pressed hard on the brakes to no avail, and couldn’t help but curse, ”Damn it, it’s like the brakes have failed!”
