Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Isn’t it good to just let things happen naturally?

But, can such a man belong to her? Could he be hers?

Once greed sets in, fear inevitably follows, the fear of losing.

Not knowing when he would go to Hong Kong, or when he would return, or whether everything would have changed by the time he came back.

When Huo Jinnan came out of the bathroom, Che Huan had regained her composure, sitting by the bedside, pretending as if nothing had happened.

Upon hearing his footsteps approaching, Che Huan nonchalantly continued to look at her phone.

Huo Jinnan snatched the phone from her hand and set it aside.

Che Huan had no choice but to return to the reality and looked reluctantly in Huo Jinnan’s direction, ”The little guy was chatting with me.”

Huo Jinnan glanced at the phone beside him and saw that her WeChat had been flashing continuously, having received many messages.

”Huanhuan, I miss you.”

”Huanhuan, my dad is not home again and has left me alone in the house.”

”Sigh, he must be out having fun again, probably found a new girlfriend.”

”Don’t be fooled by Huo Jinnan’s usual icy demeanor, pretending to be upright. In fact, he has lots of girlfriends.”

...

Huo Jinnan stared at the screen for a while, noting that his Chinese seemed to have improved quite a bit, even knowing the idiom ’pretending to be upright.’

He picked up the phone and dialed the little guy’s number.

The little guy was in the middle of typing a message, but after seeing Huo Jinnan’s name, he couldn’t help but shiver.

When he answered the phone, he felt inexplicably guilty, ”Dad, are you coming back?”

Huo Jinnan was still contemplating the sentences he just read on the screen, his brows and eyes cold, not uttering a word.

Thinking of how he had just indulged in speaking ill of Huo Jinnan in front of Huanhuan again, the little guy puffed his cheeks, pursed the corner of his mouth, and wrapped himself into a cocoon with the blanket.

Huo Jinnan asked in a low voice, ”What are you doing?”

”...” The little guy’s big dark eyes orbited, ”Hmm, reading a book, studying. Suddenly I think the term ’study god’ is pretty cool, I want to work hard to become a study god.”

”Rare indeed.”

Hearing Huo Jinnan’s voice, the little guy felt as if his lie was seen through, ”Well, actually, I just think that I should read more books. It makes one seem more cultured.”

”Has the wound on your chest healed?” Huo Jinnan asked softly, recalling the wounds he had seen on the little guy’s face and body last time.

The little guy wriggled out from under the blanket, tugged at his clothes to look at his chest, and said with a grievance, ”It’s turned blue, and it’s a bit itchy sometimes.”

Huo Jinnan glanced in Che Huan’s direction, knowing she was listening, and spoke in a low and mellow voice, ”What about your face?”

”It’s crusted over but hasn’t fallen off yet. Uncle Shen comes to treat it every day, says it’ll take another week.”

The little guy touched the scab on his face, where there was a scar. He couldn’t resist picking at one last night, and it bled. The spot that was nearly healed formed a new scab! Looking in the mirror, it looked even uglier than before, which frightened him from picking at it again.

Thinking about how he’s looked ugly recently, all thanks to that stupid woman, making him afraid to go outside, the little guy pursed his lips in dissatisfaction, ”Dad, what happened to that stupid woman?”

Huo Jinnan lit a cigarette, ”Qin Shaojin is investigating. We should have results soon.”

”Oh!” The little guy tugged at the blankets forcefully, silently voicing to himself:

Huo Jinnan, you must thoroughly avenge me and Huanhuan! Hmph, evil woman!
