Chapter 10: Chapter 9:Chaos Devourer System (1)

{Chaos Devourer System fully activated}

{Host has received the talent DEVOUR}

”Sweet, now we’re—”

I didn’t get to finish that sentence.

The system cut me off instantly.

{Now commencing core creation process...}

”Wha—”

**Crack!!!**

”ARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!”

A tortured scream ripped out of my throat before I could even process what was happening.

The pain was instant. Violent. Absolute.

A core was something everyone formed during their awakening. It differed depending on race and the energy they used.

For humans, dwarves, and most mortal races, it was called a Mana Core.

For demons, a Demon Core.

For beasts and beastmen, a Beast Core.

For spiritual races like elves, fae, and dryads, a Spiritual Core.

Yes... other races existed in this world.

Even dragons.

But that wasn’t the problem right now.

The problem was this:

I had already formed my mana core during my awakening.

So whatever the system meant by core creation...

...it had just shattered the one I already had.

The agony was indescribable.

It wasn’t just physical pain.

It felt like something deep inside me—something tied to my very soul—was being ripped apart and rebuilt piece by piece.

”ARRRGGHHHHHHHH!!!”

I screamed without shame.

There was no pride here. No ego.

Just pain.

Then something new appeared inside my body.

A strange energy.

It was unlike mana. Unlike anything I had ever felt before.

It was colder.

Older.

Heavier.

The energy pooled deep within my chest, swirling violently where my mana core had once existed.

Round and round it spun.

Condensing.

Compressing.

Becoming denser with every passing second.

Until finally—

Something formed.

A core.

Pitch black.

Yet inside its darkness... something shimmered.

Tiny points of light flickered within it, like distant stars scattered across an endless void.

It was as if the core held a fragment of the night sky itself...

Or perhaps...

...the birth of something far older.

The moment the core stabilized, the unbearable pain finally vanished.

Relief flooded my body so suddenly it almost made me dizzy.

A warm energy flowed outward from the new core, spreading through my veins, mending whatever damage had been done during the process.

But I barely noticed.

The moment the pain disappeared..

...darkness swallowed me whole.

---

”Urghhh...”

I woke with a groan, my skull pounding like someone had taken a hammer to it.

”Damn...”

Rubbing my temples, I forced myself upright and glanced at the clock beside my bed.

19:02

My eyes widened.

I had started this whole thing around midday.

Which meant...

”I’ve been out for nearly seven hours?”..

Before I could start cursing the system properly—

**DINGGG!**

{Core creation completed. Host has successfully formed a CHAOS CORE.}

{Access to CHAOS ENERGY unlocked.}

”...Wait.”

I blinked slowly.

”Chaos... what now?”

My brain hadn’t even begun processing that information when the system spoke again.

{Body reconstruction will now commence.}

”...Wait.”

**CRACKK—**

Something inside my body snapped.

Then another.

And another.

The sound echoed through my bones like glass shattering.

A wave of pain exploded through me as my skeleton seemed to collapse inward.

My muscles followed.

Melting.

Breaking down.

Liquefying.

It felt like my entire body was being torn apart at the molecular level.

I opened my mouth to scream—

But no sound came out.

The pain was too overwhelming.

Too absolute.

My vision went white.

Then black.

And the world disappeared again.

---

When I woke up next, my body felt like it weighed a thousand pounds.

”...Fucking hell.”

My voice came out hoarse as I stared up at the ceiling.

What kind of cursed cosmic entity had I offended to deserve this level of torture?

The system, of course, remained completely indifferent.

**DINGGG!**

{Body reconstruction successful.}

{Host has acquired the physique: PRIMORDIAL CHAOS BODY.}

”...What??”

I shot upright despite the soreness tearing through my muscles.

”A physique?!”

In this world, physiques were legendary.

Rare.

Ridiculously powerful.

The kind of thing entire clans would go to war over.

And this thing just... gave me one?

”How the hell did—”

{Blood replacement process beginning.}

”...Oh for the love of—”

Darkness took me again.

---

When I woke up this time, the first thing I noticed was the smell.

Copper.

Sharp.

Metallic.

”...What the...”

I pushed myself up from the floor.

Something sticky clung to my hands.

Slowly, I looked down.

And my face went pale.

Blood.

There was blood everywhere

On the floor.

On the walls.

On the bed.

My room looked like the aftermath of a particularly enthusiastic serial killer.

”...Holy shit.”

I stared at the crimson mess surrounding me.

”Did I... bleed that much?”

Judging by the state of the room, my entire circulatory system had apparently decided to vacate my body at some point during the process.

”Great.”

Just great.

---

Three hours later.

After an ungodly amount of scrubbing, wiping, and swearing...

My room was finally somewhat livable again.

I collapsed onto my bed, exhausted.

”This blasted system is trying to kill me...”

My eyes drifted to the clock again.

2:30 PM

”...You’ve got to be kidding me.”

So not only had I spent most of yesterday unconscious...

...I had just wasted half of today cleaning up my own blood.

Before I could continue complaining—

**DINGGG!**

{Blood replacement successful.}

{Host has received the CHAOS GENESIS BLOODLINE.}

**DING!**

{Congratulations. Host has obtained the title: .}

**DING!**

{Detected host class: .}

{Switching to system default class: .}

{Host may now access the main status screen.}

I froze.

”...What?”

I just stared into the air.

A bloodline.

A physique.

A title.

My class changed.

What the hell kind of system was this supposed to be?

I thought I was getting a cheat ability

Not... whatever this was.

And why did none of these things even have ranks attached?

”...Hooo...”

I exhaled slowly, forcing my heart to calm down.

”Relax, Dante.”

One problem at a time.

The system had already given me the next step.

So there was only one thing left to do.

”System.”

I called out mentally.

DING.

A translucent screen appeared before me.

I stared at the screen.

Then stared some more.

”...What the fuck?”

Question marks.

Everywhere.

Even my name had a question mark attached to it.

My race too.

”System.”

My voice came out tight.

”Explain. Now.”

DING.

{It has been determined that the host’s true name, race, origin, and several bloodlines have been sealed.}

My eyes narrowed.

”And you can’t unseal them?”

{The system is capable of unsealing the host’s bloodlines and physique. However, the host is currently too weak to withstand the consequences of doing so.}

{Proceed with unsealing?}

I stared at the prompt.

Then sighed.

”...No.”

Definitely no.

I might be reckless.

But I wasn’t suicidal.

If the system itself thought I wasn’t strong enough yet...

Then forcing it open now would probably just get me killed.

”Forget I asked.”

The system fell silent again.

I leaned back against the wall, eyes drifting back to the floating status screen.

So many mysteries.

So many sealed things.

And one terrifying implication.

If all of that was sealed...

Then what the hell was my real origin

”...Yeah.”

I exhaled slowly.

”Let’s... focus on the stuff I can actually use first.”

One step at a time.

After all...

I had an entire system to figure out..
