Celestial Beast Taming

Chapter 252: Chapter 159: You Have No Face Either

Just then, Tao Niannian came out of the kitchen carrying a tray of freshly brewed tea.

Before Tao Niannian could even set the tea on the table, a loud commotion erupted from outside the shop.

Immediately after, several members of the City Patrol Team walked in, accompanied by the man whose arm had just been torn off by Hong Ji.

”Captain Wang, they’re the ones who tore off my arm! You have to get justice for me.”

The middle-aged man’s face was deathly pale, but his severed arm was no longer bleeding. It was clear he had received treatment before coming here.

Wang Hongwu was in a foul mood as he looked at Zhong Yi, Wen Tao, Cui Heng, and the others.

The Dragon Soaring Assembly was currently underway, so many outsiders had come to Longya City.

These days, anyone who still dared to come to Tao En’s shop was almost certainly an outsider.

Wang Hongwu wasn’t annoyed with outsiders like Zhong Yi and Wen Tao, who came from other cities in the Xin Xia Federation. He was annoyed with the people who were constantly coming to cause trouble for Tao En.

And wouldn’t you know it, whenever the people causing trouble for Tao En ran into a problem themselves, they would come looking for him.

He was just a captain of the City Patrol Team; he couldn’t afford to offend Cao Xing’an, but he didn’t want to offend Tao En either.

This man who had come to him was invoking the name of the Dragon Sword Mercenaries.

The Dragon Sword Mercenaries was an organization that helped Adventurers acquire Secret Realm Points, but it hardly ranked among the powers within Longya City!

However, the Dragon Sword Mercenaries was a force personally cultivated by an important figure from the Jinglong Commerce Association.

And since Master Cao Xing’an was the chief Creator of the Jinglong Commerce Association, Wang Hongwu had no choice but to take this matter seriously.

Tao En, once a Five-finger Peak Creator, could now barely even see clearly.

Yet he was still being harassed at his own shop by such insignificant people. It was truly pitiful.

If people from other cities saw this and word got out, it would be a disgrace to Longya City.

”What happened here?”

”Causing unprovoked disputes within the city is forbidden. Why did you attack him?”

Wen Tao was about to speak, but Zhong Yi had already risen to his feet.

”Captain Wang, as a leader in the Longya City Guard Army, I trust that you will handle this matter with fairness and impartiality.”

”I would ask that you first question him as to why he was trying to wreck Master Tao En’s shop.”

Wang Hongwu raised a hand and rubbed his temples. A dispute had just occurred in Master Tao En’s shop only two days ago.

The troublemakers always came up with all sorts of excuses, like poor service, communication problems, or neglecting customers.

Wang Hongwu knew full well why these factions were coming to cause trouble for Tao En.

Since someone had now brought the matter up, Wang Hongwu turned to look at the middle-aged man with the severed arm.

Just as he was about to motion for the man to explain, the man glared resentfully at Zhong Yi and Hong Ji and bellowed.

”I wasn’t wrecking the shop! I was just here to buy something!”

”The service in this shop is terrible. I only said a few words. When did I ever wreck the place?”

Hearing the middle-aged man flatly deny causing trouble, Tao Niannian was so angry she started to tremble.

”You clearly broke a bunch of things just now! You...”

Before Tao Niannian could finish, the middle-aged man cut her off with a sharp retort.

”I broke things? Is anything broken in the shop right now?”

”Let me tell you, a little girl like you shouldn’t be making such slanderous accusations.”

”With only a grandfather and no parents to raise you, it’s no wonder you spout nonsense the moment you open your mouth.”

The middle-aged man’s original intention was to cause a scene at Tao En’s shop and curry favor with a Steward from the Jinglong Commerce Association.

But in the end, not only had he failed to cause a scene, he’d even lost his arm!

The rage in his heart made the middle-aged man speak without any restraint.

’Even though I can’t get a word in with Master Cao Xing’an,’ he thought, ’there’s no reason he wouldn’t protect someone who’s causing trouble for Tao En.’

’Otherwise, who among his underlings would bother making life difficult for Tao En on Master Cao’s behalf in the future?’

’Besides, the Dragon Sword Mercenaries I belong to are connected to the Jinglong Commerce Association anyway.’

The man’s words immediately brought tears to Tao Niannian’s eyes, caused Tao En to heave with rage, and made Zhong Yi’s brow furrow deeply.

”Oh? You weren’t causing a scene in the shop? Then perhaps I was mistaken.”

”But why were you trying to take advantage of her?”

Wang Hongwu followed the direction of Zhong Yi’s finger and saw Hong Ji, who was curiously observing the Guardian Beasts on display in the shop.

Wang Hongwu could only see the profile of the black-haired woman in the red dress, but even that side view was stunning.

She bore at least a strong resemblance to the young man who had just spoken.

’Are they siblings?’

The young woman’s expressions were so animated, giving off a completely different feel from a Substitute Puppet serving as a Household Beast.

Even though Zhong Yi and Hong Ji looked alike, it never once occurred to Wang Hongwu that Hong Ji wasn’t a human, but rather a Substitute Puppet that had undergone Bloodline Evolution.

Zhong Yi had originally intended to reason with the middle-aged man.

But since the man himself was being unreasonable and spouting utter nonsense, Zhong Yi no longer planned to handle the matter by the book.

The middle-aged man jumped to his feet, shrieking, ”What do you mean, take advantage of her?”

”I was in the middle of enthusiastically wrecking the place! I didn’t even notice anyone come in.”

”You’re the ones who came in and just...”

As the middle-aged man was speaking, Wang Hongwu gripped his shoulder in a vice-like hold.

”Didn’t you just say you weren’t causing a scene?”

”So how did that become ’enthusiastically wrecking the place’!?”

At this, Wang Hongwu’s headache intensified. This man from the Dragon Sword Mercenaries was not going to be easy to handle.

And yet, the man had been foolish enough to fall for the goading and blurt out the truth.

Just as Wang Hongwu was trying to figure out how to resolve the situation in a way that wouldn’t affect Tao En too much while also appeasing the man from the Dragon Sword Mercenaries...
