Celestial Beast Taming

Chapter 71: Chapter 68: Silver Shuttle Dream Weaving Cat

In the end, Zhong Yi decided against using a hairdryer on Lan Po’s fur. Instead, he went down to the merchandise area on the first floor and grabbed two stalks of Gentle Breeze Grass.

He used the gentle breeze they released to slowly dry Lan Po’s fur.

Zhong Yi held Lan Po and played for a while, thinking the little creature was just an adorable furball.

Sweet Dream Cats usually had arrogant, domineering personalities. When they were with their Guardian Beast Masters, they didn’t just refuse to see them as masters.

Sometimes, they would even act like they were the masters of their Guardian Beast Masters!

Anyone who raised a Sweet Dream Cat at home had, at some point or another, been scratched by it.

Lan Po was a variant of the Sweet Dream Cat; Dream-Acting Cats didn’t share the arrogant disposition of Sweet Dream Cats.

Furthermore, this was the first time the little creature had ever received care and affection, which made Lan Po particularly fond of Zhong Yi’s embrace.

Zhong Yi placed Lan Po on the cat tree that Zhong Chenghuai had made, but when he went into his room, he found Lan Po had followed him in like a little shadow.

With a mix of helplessness and affection, Zhong Yi picked Lan Po up, went back down to the first floor, and retrieved a cat bed woven from the leaves of a Dream-Painting Banana from the very top of the cat tree.

Back in his room, he placed the cat bed on his own bed, then held Lan Po and had a wonderful night’s sleep.

If Lan Po hadn’t needed the nourishment from a Spiritual Element material like the Dream-Painting Banana, Zhong Yi would have just held the little creature directly in his arms.

That night, Zhong Yi slept soundly and didn’t dream. Even if he had, the dream would have simply become Lan Po’s midnight snack.

The moment Zhong Yi opened his eyes, he saw Lan Po nestled beside his pillow, watching him without blinking.

Only after confirming he was awake did it lean in and touch its nose to his.

When Lan Po’s delicate pink nose touched his, Zhong Yi felt as if a feather had brushed against the tip of his own.

Zhong Yi scooped Lan Po into his arms and played with it for a while before taking a shower and changing into a blue and white color-blocked tracksuit.

Before bed last night, Zhong Yi had intentionally placed two Storage Pouches at the foot of his bed so the filaments of the Soul-Controlling Flower could reach directly inside them.

Due to the sheer amount of flesh from the Mortal Beast Level and Extraordinary Level Demons inside the Storage Pouches, the Soul-Controlling Flower had only managed to absorb the Life and Soul Energy from a third of the remains all night.

This whole night of absorbing the Life and Soul Energy from the Demon Remains allowed the Soul-Controlling Flower to form another Soul Taming Seed.

So, Zhong Yi decided to give this Soul Taming Seed to Lan Po, which had shed all its mottled fur overnight.

Seeing the Soul Taming Seed offered by Zhong Yi, Lan Po felt a craving that seemed to come from its very genes.

However, Lan Po only leaned in to sniff it. Seeing its obedient demeanor, Zhong Yi couldn’t help but smile and say gently,

”Lan Po, once you eat this Soul Taming Seed, you’ll become my Guardian Beast.”

”Your Bloodline will also undergo a leap, but this process will likely be painful.”

”I’ll be right here with you!”

Lan Po gently rubbed its cheek against the back of Zhong Yi’s hand, then let out a determined ”MEOW” and swallowed the Soul Taming Seed.

In Lan Po’s heart, more than a Bloodline leap, it wanted to become Zhong Yi’s Guardian Beast.

As the Soul Taming Seed entered Lan Po’s body, the little creature let out a miserable shriek, as if it had been electrocuted.

Immediately, its newly grown, moon-white fur—less than two centimeters long—stood straight on end.

Through the bristling moon-white fur, Zhong Yi could see Lan Po’s body trembling and convulsing violently.

The blood vessels beneath its skin bulged, squirming like earthworms under its pelt.

Lan Po was now in so much pain it couldn’t even cry out.

Fortunately, a creature that consumed a Soul Taming Seed would passively undergo a leap in its Life force, guided by the seed’s Energy.

Although the process was agonizing, it was a fortuitous opportunity that posed no real danger to the target’s safety.

Thus, Zhong Yi’s heart ached for it, but he wasn’t anxious or worried.

Time ticked by. Under the power of the Soul Taming Seed’s Energy, Lan Po’s fur repeatedly grew long, shed, and then grew back again.

At first, the base color of Lan Po’s fur was creamy white, but with each successive shedding, the new fur took on the lustrous, pearly-white color of mutton-fat jade.

Although its physical size didn’t increase much from the Bloodline transformation, its long, moon-white fur made Lan Po appear more than three times larger than before.

It looked even larger than a typical Sweet Dream Cat.

However, based on looks alone, if you showed Lan Po to the original stall owner, he would never have recognized it as a Sweet Dream Cat.

Lan Po’s current beauty was on a whole other level compared to a Sweet Dream Cat!

Although its fur had stopped shedding and regrowing, Lan Po’s transformation was not yet complete.

Lan Po originally had heterochromia, with one blue-green eye and one amber one. Now, however, in its lake-like left eye, the blue and green colors had separated.

Blue floated to the top half of the iris, while green settled in the bottom half.

This turned its originally blue-green eye into a bicolored iris of azure and emerald.

The amber eye started changing later, but its color transformed as well.

The amber color deepened and settled into a rich tea brown at the bottom, while a brilliant silver gleam appeared in the top half of the iris.

Only after its bicolored eyes had become quad-colored did Lan Po’s Bloodline Evolution finally cease.

If Lan Po’s previous bicolored eyes were magnificent and crystalline, then its new quad-colored eyes now possessed a stunning, mystical beauty.

Zhong Yi used All Things Exploration to inspect Lan Po after its Bloodline Evolution.

[Guardian Beast Name]: Silver Shuttle Dream Weaving Cat

[Guardian Beast Species]: Viverridae/Spirit Cat Species

[Guardian Beast Level]: Mortal Beast Level (1/10)

[Guardian Beast Type]: Spiritual Element

[Guardian Beast Quality]: Silver

Skills:

[Weaving Dreams]: Affect a target’s spiritual memories by releasing a Spiritual Force Field. Weaves a meticulously arranged dream based on the target’s experiences. After waking, the target will believe the events of the dream were real.

Exclusive Traits:

[Dream Silver Shuttle]: For every ten complete dreams devoured, a Dream Silver Shuttle is condensed based on the dreams’ quality. Using a Dream Silver Shuttle to weave a dream greatly increases the success rate of Weaving Dreams. When facing a Spiritual Attack or Spiritual Curse, a Dream Silver Shuttle can be consumed to defend a designated target.

[Successor Nightmare]: This Exclusive Trait can only be triggered when a target begins to doubt the difference between dream and reality. Whenever the target attempts to discern between the two, they will enter a Nightmare state. This disrupts their Spiritual Power and impairs their judgment. Once activated, the Nightmare can infect and spread to surrounding targets.

One look told Zhong Yi that Lan Po had evolved from a Dream-Acting Cat into a Silver Shuttle Dream Weaving Cat. Its Basic Skill, Dream Performance, had upgraded to Weaving Dreams thanks to its improved Bloodline.

However, Zhong Yi’s focus wasn’t on the change in Skills. He had keenly observed that as the Dream-Acting Cat’s Bloodline evolved into the Silver Shuttle Dream Weaving Cat’s, the Spiritual Object’s species had also changed, from the original Viverridae/Dream Cat Species to Viverridae/Spirit Cat Species.

The change in Lan Po’s Guardian Beast Species was a huge surprise to Zhong Yi.

’In my memory,’ Zhong Yi thought, ’when I was compiling the game data, there wasn’t a single cat-type Guardian Beast that belonged to the Viverridae/Spirit Cat Species.’

’Just like how Hong Ji evolved from a Substitute Puppet into a Fusion Secret Puppet, the Dream-Acting Cat’s evolution into a Silver Shuttle Dream Weaving Cat has also altered the original settings I created for this game world.’

Still shaken from the bone-deep pain of its Bloodline Evolution, Lan Po let out a soft ”MEOW” and leaped into Zhong Yi’s arms.

With its claws retracted, its little pink paw pads clung tightly to Zhong Yi’s shoulder. Its body trembled softly in his embrace as it sniffed his unique scent.

Lan Po craved the warmth of Zhong Yi’s arms, as if it could only feel safe when held by him.

Zhong Yi stopped dwelling on the change in Lan Po’s Guardian Beast Species. While soothing the trembling creature, he began to carefully examine the changes in its abilities following the Bloodline transformation.
