Celestial Beast Taming

Chapter 67: Chapter 66: The Illusion-tailed Fox’s Choice

Lin Zhuo knew Chen Yin’s personality well. She wasn’t one to make promises lightly.

By making such a promise to Zhong Yi, it meant that if he ever truly asked for her help, she would do everything in her power to fulfill his request, even if it cost her life.

Looking at the ledger-like book Chen Yin offered him, Zhong Yi could guess that it must list many precious items.

However, Zhong Yi didn’t even look through it, instead handing the book straight back to her.

”Elder Chen, you and your husband have contributed so much to Starlight City. I’m a part of this city too, so there’s no need to be so formal.”

”If you insist that I choose something, then how about you give me this Ice Coffin made from Sealed Glacial Ice?”

”I also need some fresh flesh and blood. It doesn’t matter if it’s from a Guardian Beast or a Secret Realm Creature.”

Zhong Yi wasn’t greedy enough to simply take the book and start picking items, but he didn’t act overly modest either.

Compared to rare materials, Soul Base Materials, and Guardian Beasts, what Zhong Yi needed most right now was fresh flesh and blood for his Soul-Controlling Flower to devour.

This would allow the Soul-Controlling Flower to condense a new Soul Taming Seed and, as a bonus, let Hong Ji restock her material library.

As for the Ice Coffin made from Sealed Glacial Ice, Zhong Yi planned to use it to nurture his Illusion-tailed Fox.

Sealed Ice Crystal was a very special Ice Element Material. The unique Ice Element it contained had the ability to expel other elements.

Within the range of a Sealed Ice Crystal, Elemental Energies like Fire, Wind, and Earth would be forced out, creating an environment where only the Ice Element could exist.

Take the Ice Coffin made from Sealed Ice Crystal, for example. Because of the crystal’s unique Elemental Trait, no other external elements could penetrate the coffin’s interior.

Meanwhile, the Death Qi that filled the Ice Coffin was completely compressed by the Sealed Ice Crystal around Zheng Yufeng’s body.

Without the Sealed Ice Crystal’s properties, the three Death Soul Pearls would have long since become ineffective, as the Death Qi would have simply dispersed. They would have been completely unable to maintain their function.

This Elemental Trait had only ever manifested in a few Ice Attribute materials. As of now, there were no known Guardian Beasts capable of mastering a similar Ice Elemental Trait.

In Zhong Yi’s opinion, this ability to expel other elements was practically a fragmented Rule.

On the way back to the Evolution Shop from Xuke Studio, Zhong Yi had discussed the choice of attribute for the Illusion-tailed Fox with Zhao Kai, a Four-finger Peak Creator.

Once an Illusion-tailed Fox was induced to grow its tails, it would gain the ability to manipulate elemental powers, destining it to be a ranged magic-user.

However, rather than pure damage output, Zhong Yi wanted the Illusion-tailed Fox’s abilities to be more well-rounded.

If he chose the Fire Attribute, its attack power would be maxed out, but its control and defense would surely be lacking.

The Earth Attribute offered strong defense, but its attack and control capabilities were somewhat lacking. It also didn’t have the anti-air options that other attributes provided.

After comparing them all, only the Wind and Ice Attributes could balance offense, defense, and control.

However, compared to the formless wind, tangible ice would perform better in combat.

Furthermore, the Ice Element was a variant of the Water Element, making its Elemental Traits superior to those of the Wind Element, which was a basic element.

For the Illusion-tailed Fox to acquire the Ice Attribute, it needed to be induced with Ice Attribute materials, and Zhong Yi had many options in mind for which material to use.

And Sealed Ice Crystal was, without a doubt, the best choice among them all!

When Chen Yin and the two Bizarre creatures kneeling before Zhong Yi in gratitude heard his request, they were stunned.

None of the three had expected Zhong Yi to ask for the Ice Coffin.

Before Zheng Yufeng’s recovery, anyone asking Chen Yin for this Ice Coffin made of Sealed Ice Crystal would have been asking for Zheng Yufeng’s life.

Even with her good temper, Chen Yin would not have been able to stop herself from getting angry.

The two Bizarre creatures still kneeling would have attacked immediately.

But now that Zheng Yufeng had recovered, he no longer had any use for the Ice Coffin.

”Lord Su Sheng, if you want the Ice Coffin, I’ll have Yufeng deliver it to you personally tomorrow after he wakes up. He can thank you in person for saving his life.”

”As for fresh flesh and blood, I doubt anywhere in Starlight City has a larger reserve than Deceitful Moon Tower.”

”I’ll have these two pack some for you in a Storage Pouch to take with you now.”

Lin Zhuo stepped forward, glanced at the ruddy-faced Zheng Yufeng in the coffin, and then said with a smile,

”Elder Chen, after all these years, this weight on your mind is finally lifted.”

”I’ll be leaving with Xiaoyi in a bit. He just finished exploring a Secret Realm today and hasn’t had a chance to rest.”

When he saw Chen Yin about to thank him, Lin Zhuo quickly interjected.

”Elder Chen, Xiaoyi was the one who healed him. I just brought him here; I didn’t do anything else.”

”If you want to thank someone, thank him.”

When Zhong Yi had made his requests, Lin Zhuo had been sweating bullets for him.

It wasn’t that Lin Zhuo was afraid Zhong Yi would ask for too much; after all, Lin Zhuo himself had just told him not to be modest and to ask for more.

What Lin Zhuo feared was that Zhong Yi would ask Chen Yin for the corpse of a Bizarre creature, especially since two of the Bizarre creatures she controlled were right there.

For Zhong Yi to ask Chen Yin for the corpse of a Bizarre creature would be no different than a Bizarre creature asking a Celestial Destiny Seeker for the corpse of their Lifebound Guardian Beast.

Lin Zhuo flew his Three-legged Red Crow all the way back from the Ghost Suppression Bureau, taking Zhong Yi with him to the Evolution Shop.

Zhong Yi was holding two Storage Pouches, both of them stuffed to the brim with the flesh and blood of Mortal Beast Level and Extraordinary Level Demons.

The moment Zhong Yi had asked for the flesh and blood, the Soul-Controlling Flower in his soul had begun to joyfully wriggle its roots, its slender filaments stretching out with abandon.

An intense emotion surged from it once more. If it could be translated into words, it would be something like, ”I love you, Mother!”

The intensity and attachment of this emotion were so strong that if it were expressed verbally, its voice would have long gone hoarse from shouting.

The Resurrection Celestial Lord, whom Zhong Yi had just recalled to his Soul Base, watched the Soul-Controlling Flower’s joyfully stretching roots and felt like someone was throwing a party inside a mansion.

Previously, the Resurrection Celestial Lord hadn’t shown much enthusiasm for evolution. But now, knowing that the Soul-Controlling Flower was about to be upgraded, the Resurrection Celestial Lord sent a rare request to Zhong Yi, asking to have its Tier and Quality raised as well.

Zhong Yi thought to himself, ’This laid-back little fellow is finally showing some rare motivation.’

Celestial Destiny Seekers were issued Celestial Destiny Points based on their potential rating. The primary purpose of these points was to allow them to exchange for materials to upgrade their Order Beasts.

Both Lin Zhuo and Wen Tao had explained the importance of Celestial Destiny Points to Zhong Yi on more than one occasion.

The Resurrection Celestial Lord could use Soul Soil to increase its Tier and Quality, but it also required certain materials for induction.

Just like with ordinary Guardian Beasts, while inducing it with special materials wouldn’t change an Order Beast’s Rule Authority, it would affect its Skills and Exclusive Traits.

If this induction was successful, the Resurrection Celestial Lord’s potential would increase dramatically.

However, the materials Zhong Yi wanted to use to upgrade the Resurrection Celestial Lord would likely be quite difficult to find.
