Celestial Beast Taming

Chapter 35: Chapter 34: Hong Ji’s Loving Heart Cannonballs

This wasn’t to say that Hong Ji’s attacks couldn’t breach the Giant Horror Demon’s defenses. Rather, it was because the creature possessed a unique defensive mechanism.

The Bone Spears could pierce the keratinous layer covering the Giant Horror Demon’s skin, but as soon as they broke through, they were deflected by its incredibly resilient skin flaps.

While stabbing with the Bone Spears, Hong Ji also launched dozens of Bone Cones.

Similarly, these Bone Cones were unable to pierce directly into the Giant Horror Demon’s body and change shape to rend its muscles and blood vessels.

Recalling that her initial assault hadn’t achieved the desired effect, and that Zhong Yi had ordered her to end the battle as quickly as possible, Hong Ji’s body suddenly bent forward, as if unfurling a pair of radiant wings.

Immediately, four skeletal tentacles, each longer than the Giant Horror Demon itself, shot out from behind Hong Ji. The tentacles, over twenty meters long, twisted at bizarre angles as they wrapped around the Giant Horror Demon’s body.

If the Giant Horror Demon’s body had been smooth, it could have used its superb reflexes to break free from the coiling tentacles.

However, the hard keratin and skin flaps on the Giant Horror Demon’s body gave the skeletal tentacles perfect anchor points, allowing them to cling firmly to the creature the moment they made contact.

Although the four tentacles couldn’t inflict any real damage after seizing the Giant Horror Demon’s enormous body, they pinned it securely to the ground.

Hong Ji stared down at the Giant Horror Demon with a piercing gaze, extending her hands straight out in front of her.

Immediately, Hong Ji’s fair, slender arms swelled abruptly to more than ten times their original size, her transformed limbs now covered in purplish-red muscle tissue.

As the muscle tissue on Hong Ji’s arms contracted violently, a series of high-frequency sonic booms echoed through the air.

Then, nearly meter-long Horned Demon horns shot out in rapid succession from between Hong Ji’s arms.

Each horn launched with a deafening sonic boom, and within just three seconds, hundreds of them had been unleashed.

Zhong Yi couldn’t help but marvel at the sight. ’I doubt even the Gatling guns from my past life had this kind of firepower,’ he thought.

Just over seven hundred horns shredded the immobilized Giant Horror Demon, turning it into a sieve and leaving behind massive, writhing chunks of flesh on the ground.

This was the first time Zhong Yi had seen Hong Ji fight this way, but the moment those purplish-red muscles attached to her arms, he understood the principle behind her combat style.

The most powerful muscle in any living creature is the Cardiac Muscle. Even the force from the contraction of a small rabbit’s heart wall can move a 10-kilogram object.

Hong Ji had attached the strongest valve muscles from the Horned Demons’ hearts to her arms. She then used the power released by the contraction and expansion of over 4,000 Horned Demon Cardiac Muscles to launch the horns.

Combined with the inherent sharpness of the Horned Demon’s horns, this was how Hong Ji, by unleashing her true power, could perform a Tier Jumping kill against a Giant Horror Demon in under thirty seconds.

Even if this ten-meter-plus Giant Horror Demon was merely a juvenile.

Before it died, the Giant Horror Demon let out a piercing shriek. In the wake of its cry, even with Zhong Ling holding the Ice Crystal Flower—which had already reached Mortal Beast Tenth Level—Zhong Yi and Zhong Ling still felt a wave of scorching heat wash over them.

A Demon, three meters tall but with a broad wingspan of seven to eight meters, appeared on a nearby mountainside.

The Demon resembled a bat, but its body was unnaturally bloated.

Unlike Demons such as the Horned Demon and Giant Horror Demon, which were covered in thick keratin, this bat-like creature was covered in fur. The fur was a mix of black and brown, with numerous dark red splotches.

Compared to the Giant Horror Demon from before, this new Demon felt far more ferocious.

And of course, this Demon was also stronger!

Otherwise, it wouldn’t be able to affect the ambient temperature from so far away.

’So there really is a Wing Melting Demon!’

’And judging by its size, it’s an adult Wing Melting Demon. Adult Wing Melting Demons are considered top-tier elites even in a Second Level Horned Demon Secret Realm.’

’This adult Wing Melting Demon must be the boss of this First Level Horned Demon Secret Realm!’

Right now, the Wing Melting Demon was enraged by the death of the juvenile Giant Horror Demon.

Its huge, corpulent body dove down from the mountainside, gliding toward Hong Ji’s position.

Fortunately, due to its large and corpulent body, the Wing Melting Demon struggled to maintain a flight altitude of more than fifteen meters.

This meant Hong Ji could just barely reach the flying Wing Melting Demon with her skeletal tentacles.

If the Wing Melting Demon could fly higher than fifty meters, Zhong Yi and his companions would have become living targets.

In a world this dangerous, laziness is a luxury that must be earned.

Demons like the Wing Melting Demon, which excelled at Elemental Attacks, would normally laze about in their nests, commanding Giant Horror Demons to feed them.

This was because outside of combat, the Wing Melting Demon spent its time constantly eating to accumulate Fire Elemental Energy within its body.

Unlike the Giant Horror Demon, the Wing Melting Demon was not skilled at high-speed movement. With its fat, bloated body, its flight speed was merely average for a creature of its tier.

However, the Wing Melting Demon showed no signs of panic as the skeletal tentacles reached for it.

After letting out a strange shriek, a viscous, orange flame, thick as liquid, spewed from the Wing Melting Demon’s mouth.

However, things didn’t go as the Wing Melting Demon had expected. The tentacles, composed of various remains, were not instantly burned to charcoal upon contact with its corrosive flames.

Although a large portion of the skeletal tentacles melted away, the corrosive flames seemed to make the remaining parts even tougher.

Through her Material Absorption Skill, Hong Ji could absorb not only Guardian Beast Remains, but also metal.

This happened because ever since forming a Contract with Hong Ji and upgrading her Bloodline to a Fusion Secret Puppet, Zhong Yi had continuously fed her Hundred-Forged Soft Steel.

When Hundred-Forged Soft Steel was combined with Guardian Beast Remains to form the tentacles, it maximized their durability and flexibility.

Now, the Hundred-Forged Soft Steel that Hong Ji had absorbed was finally paying off!

The semi-molten tentacles coiled around the Wing Melting Demon, and the searing heat instantly made the adult Demon shriek in agony.

Molten Hundred-Forged Soft Steel reached temperatures of several thousand degrees. Even with the Wing Melting Demon’s high Flame Resistance, having that kind of heat make direct contact with so much of its fur still inflicted serious injuries.

Once the Wing Melting Demon was immobilized in mid-air by the tentacles, Hong Ji raised her arms, and the deafening sonic booms tore through the air once more.

The Wing Melting Demon’s body was clearly much tougher than the Giant Horror Demon’s. Even with its fur already burned away, it took a barrage of over eighteen hundred Horned Demon horns to finally kill it.

The Wing Melting Demon’s blood, splattered during the assault, burned massive craters into the stone ground, from which lava began to flow.

At that moment, Zhong Yi didn’t know what was more astounding: how hard the Wing Melting Demon was to kill, or how overwhelmingly powerful Hong Ji was!
