Pa!

He gently closed the jade box lid, then turned his hand and stored away the box containing the Bodhisattva Pill. While carefully guiding his flame to refine the Bodhisattva Seed bit by bit, Wei Yang’s mind kept turning.

”After Dou Sheng, the gap between each star is enormous. And similarly, for a Dou Sheng to advance by even one star, the amount of resources and energy required is downright terrifying!”

”Now that I want to rapidly improve again, it’s already becoming extremely difficult. If I take a Bodhisattva Pill, I could speed things up. But doing that would be far too wasteful, totally not worth it!”

Wei Yang shook his head, dismissing the thought.

A Bodhisattva Seed is absolutely not something to squander like that. Using a Bodhisattva Pill just to push up a small realm within the Dou Sheng stage... now that would be extravagant to the point of insanity.

Exactly what sort of obscenely wealthy clan would dare do something so outrageously wasteful?

If word of this got out, people would probably curse him from the heavens to the netherworld. After all, a single Bodhisattva Pill can increase the chance of breaking through to Ban Sheng by around twenty percent!

While twenty percent might look small, for experts stuck at the peak of Nine-Change Dou Zun, they’d willingly trade their entire life savings for that bump in success rate.

In the original story, Xiao Yan consumed this pill and, with the aid of the Bodhisattva Heart, managed to break through straight into One-Star Dou Sheng. Used properly, a single Bodhisattva Pill could potentially create a Ban Sheng powerhouse for an entire faction.

But if used merely as a consumable energy source for someone already in the Dou Sheng realm, four or five Bodhisattva Pills might not even be enough to raise one star.

After all, the Bodhisattva Pill is only a Tier 8 Pill. Even the peak form, the nine-colored version, is still fundamentally only a Tier 8 pill. For a Dou Sheng, the boost isn’t that substantial anymore. Wei Yang had only brought back thirty-two Bodhisattva Seeds total.

Even if he refined every last one into Bodhisattva Pills and used them all without leaving a single pill behind, at best he might raise two or three stars in strength. That would already be pushing it. But such an approach would be wasteful beyond words. Excessively luxurious, almost sinful.

The heavens would probably strike him with lightning for it. Besides, there’s no way he’d keep them all for himself. There were plenty of people close to him who needed Bodhisattva Pills.

Xiao Yan needed them, Medusa needed them, Xian’er needed them, Qing Lin needed them, the three little ones would need them in the future, as well as Ah Da, Xiong Zhan, and so on.

Thirty-two Bodhisattva Seeds might look like a lot, but once they started getting distributed... they’d vanish in no time.

”Looks like if I want to get stronger, I need to become a Tier 9 Alchemist as soon as possible.” Wei Yang exhaled softly, muttering to himself. If he could become a Tier 9 Alchemist, things would change dramatically.

Because then he could refine the Great Bodhisattva Return Pill. Using Bodhisattva Seeds merely to make Bodhisattva Pills is honestly a bit of a waste. The Great Bodhisattva Return Pill is the form that truly unleashes the Bodhisattva Seed’s medicinal power to the extreme.

It shares the same function as the Bodhisattva Pill, but the Great Bodhisattva Return Pill is its upgraded version, reaching the Tier 9. A Bodhisattva Pill can only raise the Ban Sheng breakthrough success rate by around twenty percent.

Meanwhile, the Great Bodhisattva Return Pill has a terrifying fifty-to-sixty percent success rate! That’s more than half — the most ideal pill for a peak Dou Zun trying to break into Ban Sheng.

The Great Bodhisattva Return Pill is a Tier 9 Treasure Pill, created by Xiao Yan during his Hundred Reincarnation at the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree. He developed it after studying the medicinal properties of the regular Bodhisattva Pill and the Bodhisattva Heart.

Since Wei Yang experienced that reincarnation illusion together with Xiao Yan, he naturally knew how to refine this pill as well. In fact, he had participated in the entire development process. As the upgraded version of the Bodhisattva Pill, just how strong was it?

As one of its co-creators and with reference to the original story’s descriptions, this improved Great Bodhisattva Return Pill doubled the original effect, yielding a terrifying sixty-percent breakthrough success rate.

With odds like that, as long as the peak Dou Zun who swallowed it wasn’t utterly incompetent, the breakthrough was practically guaranteed. As a Tier 9 Treasure Pill, it naturally also had great effects for low-level Dou Shengs.

”Once I finish refining this Bodhisattva Pill, I’m stopping.”

Wei Yang made his decision quickly.

After completing the Bodhisattva Pill in the cauldron and fully stabilizing his nine-colored Tier 8 pill, he would stop wasting Bodhisattva Seeds. Then he would begin an all-out push toward breaking into the Tier 9!

Actually, if Wei Yang truly wanted to rapidly increase his strength in a short time, he still had one more option. That meant directly refining the hundreds of bone marrows extracted from the mutated Ancient Heaven Serpent’s skeletal remains.

Given the sheer size of that Ancient Heaven Serpent and the fact that very little of its essence had dissipated, every single piece of bone marrow contained exceedingly pure and dense energy — far richer than the bone marrow of the Ancient Heavenly Phoenix he had dealt with before.

Not even considering the power difference between the two beasts, most of the Ancient Heavenly Phoenix’s essence back then had been poured into the Dragon-Phoenix Origin Fruit.

The Ancient Heaven Serpent was different. Its bone marrow essence had been preserved almost perfectly. If Wei Yang absorbed all these hundreds of serpent bone marrows, raising his strength by around two stars likely wouldn’t be a problem at all.

Back then, Wei Yang had given the Life Spirit Flame, the Heaven Serpent’s blood essence, and its magic core to Qing Lin, while the hundreds of bone marrows had remained untouched. After all, Qing Lin still hadn’t fully refined that Rank 9 Heaven Serpent Magic Core even now.

Once she finished refining that Rank 9 magic core, reaching the mid-to-high-level Ban Sheng realm shouldn’t pose any difficulty. If he gave her a Bodhisattva Pill as insurance, then reaching the high-level Ban Sheng stage would essentially be guaranteed.

That was why Wei Yang hesitated.

The Heaven Serpent bone marrow was undeniably the most suitable resource for Qing Lin. If Qing Lin refined those bone marrows, the result would definitely be far better than what Wei Yang would get from using them.

Moreover, the serpent bone marrow could also help Qing Lin rapidly step into the Dou Sheng realm. Between increasing his own strength by two stars and gaining another Dou Sheng-level powerhouse by his side, Wei Yang was naturally inclined toward the latter.

Once Qing Lin broke into Dou Sheng, paired with her Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils and the mutated Ancient Heaven Serpent body, her combat strength would be nothing to scoff at. She might even be fiercer than Medusa’s Seven-Colored Heaven Swallowing Python.

Thus, Wei Yang had delayed using those serpent bone marrows all this time for this very reason.

”For now, the most important thing is still becoming a Tier 9 Alchemist. Everything else... I’ll deal with when the time comes. Once I reach Tier 9, not only can I refine the Great Bodhisattva Return Pill, but the Tier 9 Pill Lightning itself is also an immense boon for me.”

Refining a Tier 9 Treasure Pill would summon Black Demon Lightning. This lightning was not only immensely destructive but also contained energy of exceptionally high quality.

Perfect — he could use it to strengthen himself and further enhance the destructive power of the Extinction Flame. Killing multiple birds with one stone.

With all of that, the Heaven Serpent bone marrow wouldn’t be quite as critical for him anymore. If he refined several Tier 9 pills, the massive amounts of Black Demon Lightning he’d acquire would also allow his strength to soar rapidly.

”Then next, it’s time to go all out and break into Tier 9!” Wei Yang inhaled deeply and smiled.

Once the goal was set, all that remained was the effort. He swept his gaze over the crimson cauldron floating before him and the verdant Bodhisattva Seed within, currently being tempered under the burning black flame. Wei Yang slowly closed his eyes.

Everything about refining Tier 9 Treasure Pills — the procedures, theory, key points, and precautions — had already been fully prepared during his Hundred Reincarnations. His soul realm and strength now were more than sufficient.

His Dou Qi realm posed no issue either.

Theory, knowledge, countless details — he lacked none. The only thing he still lacked... was practical experience. Now that he had achieved nine-colored Tier 8 Pill, it was time to step into Tier 9 Pill.
