Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 221: Chapter 161: Mysterious Backlash

As someone born into Roman elite as the second generation, he understood from an early age that seeking thrill and pleasure was the meaning of his life. To realize his life philosophy, he participated in both lawful and unlawful activities, with few brutal spectacles he hadn’t witnessed.

But he had to admit, the brutal spectacle before him was something he truly hadn’t seen before.

The manager of the execution bar was right in front of him, and the manager’s splattering blood sprayed onto his face, with quite a few shards of bones falling into his mouth.

He closed his mouth, his lips moving slightly, then braced his neck and, unafraid of scratching his esophagus, swallowed the blood-mixed bone shards into his stomach.

Thud thud.

Thud thud

What was that sound?

It was his heartbeat.

Tasting the remains in his mouth, he never felt so clearly alive.

The performance on stage quickly entered its finale, with the bar manager sawed diagonally from the left clavicle to the right thigh, splitting into two.

The bar manager hadn’t died; his upper half on the ground was still struggling, emitting weak wails.

Duan Kaiming pulled out the handkerchief from his chest, wiped the blood off his face, then gripped the blood-soaked handkerchief and raised his fist, shouting:

”Another one!”

Duan Kaiming’s voice awakened the other spectators from their shock, leading them to follow his voice and raise their arms to shout together.

”Another one!”

”Another one!”

...

The lead singer on stage was stunned; today’s program was pre-designed, with the sawing of the bar manager being merely an illusion meant to showcase the Divine Power of the Gate of Heaven.

They initially thought such a bizarre public killing would throw the audience into a panic, fleeing frantically.

So they rehearsed countless times on how to control the panicked crowd and how to quickly resurrect the bar manager.

Yet they never expected that upon seeing this scene, these beasts below would be shouting for another.

He, a believer in the Evil God who’d hosted over a dozen sacrifices, found this group of beasts below perverse.

With the audience’s enthusiasm too high, he had no choice but to call up three bar workers, saw them one by one to entertain the crowd.

Until all three workers were sawed, the audience was finally satisfied and cheered.

Yet suddenly, the Gate of Heaven on the screen emitted light, and the four corpses lined up on stage were actually bonding together and rising again in the light.

Another brutal spectacle they hadn’t seen.

The lead singer said, ”The end of the world is nigh, and God is transmitting His Divine Power onto Earth through the Gate of Heaven to save it.”

”In the old era, those favored by God could only resurrect three days after death, but now, believers can be resurrected immediately after death as long as they receive God’s Shelter!”

”Remembering the Gate of Heaven means you and I are Divine Messengers from the other side of the gate, sent to earth by the Lord. Now is the time to recall everything and completely open the Gate of Heaven for the Lord.”

Most of the attendees had no faith; suddenly becoming Divine Messengers made them feel perplexed.

However, the powerful impact of the scene on stage continued to resonate within their minds.

Seeing limbs reconnecting, dead resurrecting, witnessing such brutal spectacle firsthand made doubting the lead singer’s words difficult.

Many people began reviewing their smooth lives, believing there was indeed Divine Shelter unseen, and perhaps they were truly Divine Envoys.

Wu Chang, mixed within the crowd, saw clearly that when the lead singer revived the bar manager and others and the audience believed, the entire Mystical Ceremony was activated.

In the real world, Mysticism likewise adhered to the First Law of Mysticism in the Moonlight Sanatorium Plane.

”Human cognition is one of the sources of mysticism existence. The more people believe in its existence, the stronger its Power becomes.”

When people believed in resurrection and the Gate of Heaven’s Divine Power, the cognition of everyone in the scene was distorted by mysticism.

Their hesitation now was merely a process of self-persuasion; soon, they’ll fully accept this concept.

Just as Wu Chang predicted, it wasn’t long before people began to believe the lead singer’s words, willing to join them to help open the Gate of Heaven and welcome the Lord’s arrival.

At the moment of deciding, tentacles wriggled out from their faces, and a nearby service crew would promptly offer a mask for them to wear.

Wu Chang shook his head after seeing this; unaffected by the Mystical Ceremony, naturally growing tentacles from the flesh signified these people were already finished.

The charm of the First Law of Mysticism lies in its infinitely growing snowball effect.

Once people begin believing in mysticism, they will be influenced by it; the influence deepens their belief, thus Strengthening Mystical Power, making the influence even deeper.

Once started, escape is destined to be impossible.

Ten minutes later, everyone wore masks, including Wu Chang.

He didn’t need to fake tentacles growing out of his face, simply activating Social Phobia, taking a mask directly from the service crew to wear.

All joined the Revelation; seeing the time ripe, the lead singer and others seized the moment and immediately commenced the next, and final, gathering.

All attendees’ phones simultaneously rang with alerts, updates on a pinned announcement in the Night Song group.

The announcement contained a location, the Wanghai First High School auditorium.

No organization needed; masked people voluntarily drove towards Wanghai First High School.

Located in the central area of Wanghai City, Wanghai First High School was the city’s top-performing high school. In Wanghai City, those with conditions in their family desperately strived to get in.
