Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 176: Chapter 147: Polar Reversal

Lei Hu looked at the blood moon in the sky, murmuring to himself, was what happened tonight really just a simple unexpected event?

At the very first moment of the blood moon’s eruption, he rode into the Sirena City District.

After entering the district, he did not go to the church immediately but mingled with the crowd, observing what exactly was happening.

He stood at the miraculous site of Sirena’s Great Sage, watching countless followers kneel at the place where the first miracle erupted, praying to the gods almost frantically.

He stood on Sirena’s highest tower, using a long-distance telescope to observe the distance, seeing a tide of undead marching under the blood-red moonlight.

He also saw that under the blood moon’s illumination, the dying who came to Sirena seeking final peace, died in unease and quickly turned into undead, attacking those around them indiscriminately.

Among them was a guy he turned into charcoal with a single punch.

That shriveled old man, who struggled just to drink water before dying, could bite through an adult’s neck with ease after becoming undead, draining a person’s blood within two or three seconds.

In Sirena City, at least thirty percent of those on the verge of dying were in this state.

Even if the undead outside couldn’t break in, could the city defend itself if this group of dying turned into undead?

The only thing that reassured him was that his Thunder Warrior reincarnation, using Thunder Spiritual Power inherently with Break Evil effects, could easily kill these undead.

Even if Sirena City really fell, he could fight his way out of the undead horde, ending the dungeon after escaping the battle.

He wondered if Zhan Gui had succeeded on his end. This blood moon was sinister. If it were delayed too long, and he got trapped outside the city, he definitely wouldn’t go out to save him.

As Lei Hu pondered how the blood moon’s aftermath would conclude, a few clergy members came over and took away the undead turned to charcoal.

The leading priest stayed behind and extended an invitation to Lei Hu.

”Sir Knight, His Holiness the Pope wishes to meet with you.”

Lei Hu feigned surprise and said, ”His Holiness wants to see me?”

When Lei Hu acted, he knew it would attract the Soul Light Sect’s attention, which is exactly what he wanted.

Without a doubt, the Soul Light Sect was an extremely important force in the Midnight Cemetery, and if tonight was just a regular unexpected event, fostering a good relationship with the Soul Light Sect might help him gain some advantages before the dungeon went out of control. If the dungeon went out of control tonight, using the Soul Light Sect as bait to attract the undead’s attention might help him break free from the battle.

In any case, he was winning regardless.

The priest, his face filled with compassion, said, ”Calamity has struck, a crisis looms; only through everyone working together do we have a chance to overcome the difficulties. Knights like you, with mighty strength, are the key combat force.”

Lei Hu hesitated, ”Working together isn’t a problem, but under what guise should I act?”

The priest understood Lei Hu’s intentions for a reward and immediately promised:

”The calamity brought by the blood moon is a great catastrophe foretold in the divine prophecies. This battle is a holy war. All knights participating in the war will be granted the title of Holy Temple Knight by the Soul Light Church, enjoying all the privileges of a Holy Temple Knight. If there’s a chance of a miracle, Holy Temple Knights will be the first to benefit.”

”Happy to serve!” Lei Hu pounded his right fist on his chest and immediately declared.

The issue of miracles aside, he was mainly interested in the title of Holy Temple Knight.

Before entering the dungeon, the Iron Armor Corps had gathered some intelligence about the Midnight Graveyard Dungeon, and Holy Temple Knights were considered superior in the church, even ranking half a level above ordinary bishops.

It was said that obtaining this title could exchange for exclusive skills of the Holy Temple Knights.

Seeing Lei Hu agree, the bishop led him deep into the Soul Light Cathedral. The two took a lift down to the second basement level’s ritual chamber.

At this moment, a large brazier in the center of the hall reignited with sacred fire, although the sacred fire’s quality was far inferior to that of the perennial fire.

After bringing Lei Hu, the bishop withdrew, and as he left, he didn’t forget to close the door of the ritual chamber.

Hearing the click of the door locking behind him, Lei Hu couldn’t help but glance back, thinking that the dungeon plane’s natives were surprisingly courteous, each closing the door behind them.

In the ritual chamber, the Fire Master stood alone beside the altar’s brazier, looking down at Lei Hu, speaking in an emotionless tone:

”You finally came, I’ve been looking for you for a long time.”

Lei Hu frowned, what did he mean by looking for him for a long time, that didn’t sound like anything good.

”Have we met before, Your Holiness?”

The Fire Master shook his head, ”No, we haven’t.”

Lei Hu breathed a sigh of relief, another enigmatic native playing mystery, if not for his status as the Pope, he’d already have gone up and given him a few punches.

The Fire Master’s tone suddenly turned sinister, ”However, I remember your Thunder Spiritual Power very clearly!”

Lei Hu was taken aback, ”You’re a player too?!”

It was impossible for the Midnight Cemetery dungeon plane’s natives to say ”Thunder Spiritual Power,” yet the Pope of the Soul Light Sect turned out to be a player.

This was bad.

Even though he didn’t know why the other came, any Iron Armor Corps member who got randomly cornered by someone saying they had been searched for a long time would instinctively think something was wrong.

He didn’t know which enemy had come knocking this time.

No reason, no cause, many Iron Armor Corps members didn’t even know whether the one coming for revenge was targeting the Iron Armor Corps or them individually before being killed.

But they were used to this lifestyle, just as they never thought the players they chased in groups had any personal grievance with them.
