Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 151: Chapter 138: Mikhail I’s Eternal Life Tomb Chamber (Double-Length 5k Chapter)

Including when the carriage arrived today to deliver corpses and he noticed that bodies which had participated in the resurrection ritual were being sent, he acted more urgently than Wu Chang, fearing that they would not detect the abnormalities of the Soul Light Sect.

If things reached this point and Han’er had no grudge with the Soul Light Sect, Wu Chang wouldn’t believe it.

Han’er took off the necklace and showed Wu Chang a ring, a woman’s ring that matched the one he was wearing.

”Didn’t I mention before that our family promised the Church to watch over the Great Tombs because of the Gravekeeper? That’s why I’ve become close to many sects, including the recently emerged Soul Light Sect.”

”They needed me, and I was initially in awe of the miracles they accomplished. Through our interactions, I became mixed with them. Two years ago, when my wife suddenly fell ill with a terminal disease, they approached me, offering a resurrection ritual. In my confusion, it seemed like a lifeline, so I agreed to their request.”

”Later, like all others who participated in the resurrection ritual, she only lived a month after stepping down from the Holy Table. I thought it was normal; after all, it’s a miracle. Even the Blood Moon Eternal Life can’t grant real immortality. I was already content that she lived healthily for a month. At the time, I was grateful to the Soul Light Sect and would have done anything they needed.”

Upon saying this, Han’er laughed self-mockingly.

”After she passed, the Soul Light Sect said they were worried that I’d miss her too much and buried her in a distant cemetery. They guessed right—I did miss her too much. On the first day of the burial, I secretly dug her out and reburied her in Cemetery No. 44. Whenever I patrolled at night, I would visit her, even on nights of the Blood Moon.”

”Until one Blood Moon night, right in front of me, she turned into a monster neither human nor ghost, and I had to kill her with my own hands.”

Saying this, Han’er was on the verge of tears.

Wu Chang sighed, handing Han’er a piece of paper, which Han’er used to blow his nose heavily and then stuffed back into Wu Chang’s hand.

”Thank you.”

Wu Chang, disgusted, threw the paper into old Schneider’s grave, glaring at Han’er. This guy was disgusting. If he weren’t talking about his dead wife, Wu Chang would’ve punched him.

Han’er rubbed his nose. ”Sorry, I caught a cold last night. Actually, I’m not sad. I’m quite grateful to the Soul Light Sect because after she died, I felt life had nothing left to offer. I was staring blankly at these tombstones every day, almost losing my mind.”

”Thankfully, they helped me find a new purpose in life. There’s no greater motivation to live than revenge, nothing that makes life more fulfilling.”

Wu Chang furrowed his brows, feeling something was off, and asked:

”Even if you succeed, you’ve only been through a single Blood Moon Eternal Life ritual. Even if you can leave the Great Tombs like Patos, can you really handle the Soul Light Sect?”

Han’er shook his head and said, ”Your suggestion was my initial plan, but as I gained the Soul Light Sect’s trust, I thought of a better idea! I’m going to intercept their plan, seize the complete Power of Immortality, and then exact my revenge!”

Wu Chang continued to ask, ”What are you planning to intercept?”

Han’er said, ”Remember the commission I told you about? The Soul Light Sect will enter Cemetery No. 44 with some people two nights from now to open a tomb chamber.”

Wu Chang nodded; this was his hidden side mission, of course, he remembered.

As Han’er spoke of his plan, he became excited, even in the Eternal Life Tomb Chamber. He looked around and then whispered to Wu Chang:

”The tomb chamber they’re heading to is Mikhail I’s Eternal Life Tomb Chamber! Someone like Patos is collaborating with the Soul Light Sect, planning to enter the chamber during the second Blood Moon Eternal Life, devour Mikhail I, and under the Blood Moon Eternal Life’s blessing, obtain full immortality and the Blood Moon Power.”

”I’m planning to act when they’re weakened from fighting each other!”

Wu Chang suddenly understood. No wonder opening a tomb chamber was such a simple task yet became his side hidden mission; it’s because it was Mikhail I’s Eternal Life Tomb Chamber.

If what Han’er said was true, then questions would inevitably follow.

”You’ve told me your entire plan; how will you intercept it now?”

Han’er waved his hand nonchalantly and said, ”Because I can see that you also have a grudge against the Soul Light Sect. By telling you everything, you’ll definitely cause trouble for them.”

Now it was Wu Chang’s turn to be surprised, ”How did you figure that out?”

Han’er chuckled, ”When you visited the Soul Light Cathedral, the look in your eyes when seeing the Great Cathedral and the Fire Master Pope—such unrestrained desire—I found it terrifying. Whether you covet their miracles or their status, just from that look of yours, I knew you’d make your move against them.”

Wu Chang turned to Erin and asked, ”Was I that obvious?”

Erin used a gentle, loving tone and said, ”It’s alright. I’m ready to guide you back to the right path if you ever lose yourself to greed.”

Wu Chang scratched his head. Even Erin thought he was going to lose himself; it seemed it was indeed pretty obvious.

”And what about immortality? Don’t you want to gain the power of the Blood Moon Eternal Life?”

Han’er sneered at this, ”Once you’ve seen enough of those twisted monsters emerging under the Blood Moon, you couldn’t possibly have any fondness for that stuff. Even if it were given to me for free, I wouldn’t take it.”

Wu Chang remained silent for a moment, then patted Han’er on the shoulder.

”Brother Han’er, since you’ve laid it all out for me, as your brother, I naturally can’t let you down.”

”You want revenge on the Soul Light Sect, right? Why wait until after the Blood Moon Eternal Life? We can head to the Soul Light Sect right now and launch a big attack that will definitely drive the Fire Master crazy!”
