Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Su Zhi said his goodbyes to Tuoba Jing after lunch.

Wang Baichuan and Wang Yichuan still had to return to Jinshi Village. Although the most recent wave of Earthquake Beasts had just retreated, Su Zhi couldn’t help but worry about letting two unarmed, ordinary people travel back to the village alone.

”How are you feeling, sir? Any better?” Su Zhi asked with concern on the way back.

Wang Yichuan nodded repeatedly. ”Much better after taking the medicine. I will never forget your kindness, Lord Beastmaster...”

”Think nothing of it. You gave me shelter from the wind and rain when I first arrived here.”

Su Zhi quickly waved his hands and asked curiously, ”By the way, was there something wrong with that first Radiant Gold Vein Opening Stone? Why couldn’t it be used in the medicine?”

Wang Baichuan shook his head. ”We don’t know either. We’d seen the Physician brew medicine before. When he placed the stone in the medicinal broth, it would slowly dissolve on its own. But that first one didn’t do that; it stayed hard and bright.”

Su Zhi’s eyes widened slightly. ”It did that...?”

As soon as they returned to Jinshi Village, Su Zhi grabbed Yu Bao and, wasting no time, found a secluded spot to pull out the Radiant Gold Vein Opening Stone.

”Well, Yu Bao? Can you sense anything?”

”Woof?” A question mark seemed to pop up over Yu Bao’s head.

’If I sniff carefully, does it smell a bit like herbal medicine?’

The light faded from Su Zhi’s eyes, and his expression turned to disappointment. ”I thought you might have a new discovery. After all, you’re the one who laid it.”

Yu Bao: ”...”

’What do you mean, *I* laid it? Isn’t the image of a dog laying a stone a little weird...’

’But if I sense it carefully, the Energy activity inside this Radiant Gold Vein Opening Stone seems a bit higher, very similar to his state after activating Thick Earth Golden Might.’

Su Zhi immediately followed up, ”Can you absorb it, then?”

Yu Bao shook his head.

He had already tried yesterday when he first got it. Unlike other resources, the Energy inside the Radiant Gold Vein Opening Stone seemed to be sealed away by some special mechanism, making it difficult to absorb directly like a normal resource.

It was strange that the people here used it to brew medicine, and with pretty good results, too.

”We’ll worry about it later, then.” Su Zhi casually stuffed the stone back into Shan Bao’s Flash Gold Flash Space.

Then, just as Yu Bao was eagerly getting ready to pounce, Su Zhi grabbed his head in advance.

”I’ve predicted your prediction, kiddo.”

A triumphant look appeared in Su Zhi’s eyes as he began to rub—

[Pet Beast: Yu Bao (Yu Dian Farm Dog)

Power: 1.30

agility: 2.26

Intelligence: 3.70 -> 3.89

Constitution: 1.42

Perception: 4.79 -> 4.90]

[Real-time Energy Value: 6879]

As was his custom, Su Zhi allocated a good number of Points to Intelligence.

Besides feeding Yu Bao’s addiction to showing off, Intelligence also gave him a significant boost in learning new Skills.

In the beginning, Yu Bao had to practice for quite a while just to learn Earth Force Field. But with the continuous accumulation of Intelligence Points, the speed at which he learned Skills had shown a noticeable improvement. He could now quickly grasp even some of the more difficult Skills.

”Woof!” Yu Bao let out an aggrieved cry after the rubbing was done.

’Predict my ass! I was saving those!’

”Saving them is boring. Besides, what’s done is done. Just accept it,” Su Zhi said with a mischievous grin, hitching up his pants.

So, Yu Bao molded a cucumber shape from a stone and stuffed it into Su Zhi’s hand.

’Can anyone understand my pain? I’m stuck with a cringe Beast Tamer.jpg’

”Okay, okay...”

Su Zhi accepted it, not knowing whether to laugh or cry, then immediately looked at Yu Bao with anticipation. ”Right, how’s your practice with that one Skill going? I remember you’ve been thinking about it for a long time.”

”Woof.”

Yu Bao gave a lopsided smirk, a meaningful smile spreading across his face.

At the same time, Wu Bao’s body tensed, and he instinctively clenched his butt.

’This is bad. According to web novel tropes, that kind of smirk is the prelude to a Dragon King getting ready to show off!’

Sure enough, the next moment, Yu Bao’s body shrank rapidly until he was only about one-tenth of his original size—even smaller than he was before he evolved.

”Woof!”

Yu Bao stood on his hind legs, spread his front paws, and gazed up at the heavens with deep emotion.

He had finally mastered Doubling!

Back during the ”First Annual Su Zhi Cup,” Wu Bao, who had mastered Doubling, gave Yu Bao a lot of trouble. Ever since then, Yu Bao had been quite fixated on this Skill.

In fact, ever since his Real-time Energy Value had reached Two-star, Yu Bao had been trying to master Doubling.

However, the Skill was incredibly difficult to learn. It seemed to be linked to his Real-time Energy Value, so allocating Points didn’t have a very obvious Effect. Yu Bao had practically been trading years off his life to train, and he still hadn’t learned it...

With the help of this final batch of Points, his Real-time Energy Value had received another small boost, and that was enough for him, the great Yu Bao, to finally learn it!

This also showed that Wu Bao truly had a special talent in this area. It was a Skill that even Two-star Pet Beasts found difficult to learn, yet he had mastered it with ease before even reaching Two-star...

Su Zhi sized up Wu Bao, nodding thoughtfully.

”Chirp chirp!” Seeing Yu Bao shrink to her size, Shan Bao’s eyes sparkled with adoration.

”Hmph.” Although he was truly shocked on the inside, Wu Bao just waved a front paw, maintaining his usual disdain for everything Yu Bao did.

’It’s just a lousy Doubling skill, what’s so great about learning it?’

’Can Yu Bao use it like him, combining the advantages of size and Power to overcome a greater force with leverage? Obviously not. Mastering Doubling like this is completely meaningless.’

”Woof~!” Yu Bao’s eyes narrowed mischievously. He took two steps toward Shan Bao, wagging his tail.

’Come on, Shan Bao, let’s cuddle!’

”Chirp chirp~” Shan Bao gave a little hop forward and leaned against Yu Bao. Now that Yu Bao was about the same size as her, the sensation of snuggling was much clearer.

The friction between the Flash Gold Sparrow’s fluffy feathers and the Yu Dian Dog’s soft fur made both little creatures feel incredibly cozy.
